Loads of other game communities have been making these so I thought it'd be fun to do one for lemmings (and it was), got plenty of suggestions from the discord group too. If you want any explained I can.

My favourite things from each layer:

1 Custom levels
2 Unused Crystal trap
3 Direct Drop
4 Levitation after digging
5 Lemmings Returns
6 500 lost levels

...and I haven't heard of/seen anything below that layer!

If someone fancies explaining all of these, it'll be a fascinating read :lemcat:

I am also very curious about an explanation for all of these.

I haven't seen the format before, but I think I was able to deduce what it's about. :P

i was searched Lemming Curd Porto Caval Shunt back in 2024 and i found the few result related to that lemmings obsecure stuff like a website that exactly linked to 'Lemming Curd Porto Caval Shunt'. Now, i searched it back then show no result , only surgical information about human liver parts :'(   sorry i was really curious about this entry

This seems to be what it's a reference to.

And in finding this and sharing it here, I've probably instantly moved it one or two tiers up the iceberg.
My projects
2D Lemmings: NeoLemmix (engine) | Lemmings Plus Series (level packs) | Doomsday Lemmings (level pack)
3D Lemmings: Loap (engine) | L3DEdit (level / graphics editor) | L3DUtils (replay / etc utility) | Lemmings Plus 3D (level pack)
Non-Lemmings: Commander Keen: Galaxy Reimagined (a Commander Keen fangame)

I don't know many of the topics mentioned in the iceberg (and I would like to know them all!), but I'm surprised that there is no mention of Martin Zurlinden and his Mazulems, the DHTML versions of Lemmings, the meaning of the 22934 level from L2 The Tribes, or the curious and happy story of Kieran Millar.

Sorry, I misspelled it. Here is his history:

ooh some fun stuff to search for when I'm bored. There's a bunch of those I don't know about.  :)

I still think about those 500 lost levels every now and then. Why must Gary never let them see the light of day!? [yes I am obsessive and cry about things like this, even though it's probably pointless]

The most obscure thing on the iceberg that I recognize is the japanese lemming nudity, which isn't nearly as scandalous as it sounds!

I don't recognize anything past the 6 layer. I'm really curious what so many of these could be referring to.

something that i find really weird is the rebelsoft animation which is obscure, in fact! theres an animations thats way weirder, more obscure and that wasnt even in the iceberg :'(

the anti-lemmin demo ???

it is a weird animation made for the amiga (which i know about it since it appeared randomly on my feed before i knew about the rebelsoft animation  )

im not watching it again beacuse IM NOT EXPLAINING

from what i remember, the player was a human-like female lemming and a lemmings threw a bazooka at a random jet and the jet threw missiles at the lemming that used the bazooka :lemming:

il explain more later

i already knew about the arcade version (which i played it and i gotta say, the controls kinda suck :'( but the graphics are good ;P )

and so i already knew the cdi version (also you forgot to mention on the iceberg some thing:

- the 3do port reused the music from the cdi version and the cover from the macintosh version
- the lemmings apppear as enemies in hired guns
- the master system & game gear cancelled ports of lemmings 2: the tribes
- macintosh different graphics
- jelly belly promotions in some versions/levels of 3d lemmings

these are some missing things)

This seems to be what [Lemming Curd Porto Caval Shunt]'s a reference to.

And in finding this and sharing it here, I've probably instantly moved it one or two tiers up the iceberg.

That's the Paradox of something being at the bottom of a list.

For example, someone might list 'Most -> Least Interesting Songs'. The song at the bottom of the list suddenly becomes more interesting than those above it, because it automatically begs the question of why it's the least interesting, which is a point of interest!

The same thing applies to 'Most -> Least Known Facts'. Whatever is at the bottom will become more known simply by its position in the list.
