So, I'm back but only to give you some sad news. Minty, my second cat, had died at the vets earlier today. Now, you may be wondering why I'm posting this in front of you lot. As well as being a lovely gentle cat himself that especially loved going on people's laps, his frightened reaction to one of the old sound effects while I was playing Lix inspired me to write this post on his behalf. Yes, that makes him probably the most unexpected contributor to a lemmings fangame! He will forever remain in my heart, and I hope he will be in your hearts someday too. <3

RIP Minty (2/9/02 - 3/6/22)

OK, just dumping some of my original level solutions onto the mainspace, and will be shortly updating the packs for hopefully the last time. I really need to think about moving on from NeoLemmix, as I'm running out of disk space on my PC.

This puzzle reminds me of one of those daily coffee break-style newspaper puzzles. Most of these usually have a 'base letter', in which words should only be built around a certain letter. Otherwise, many words can be found, like I have here. I'm only going to list the ones I know though, hidden in spoiler tags of course.

I was aware about the major update to the NeoLemmix Introduction Pack, and have updated the table with new results. I also made a few more optimisations to older levels, all are listed at the top of the page.

The door is still open BTW if anybody has any suggestions for Level Packs, especially those with multiple solutions to levels, and also those including the new skills (Laserer and Slider) if anybody's interested!

Thanks for these solutions! I'll have a look at these and update the table in just a moment. In the meantime, I did some OhNo solutions way back in June. Replay bundle shows the level's name first.

Fun 21 (Mayhem 26): It quite clear according to the background that we have two different versions of this level. Anyway, I was able to improve this to 3 of each. Replay and level attached

2P 16 (The Rubbish Dump): 100% solution easily improved to 60 of each! Simply a fencer for the last cutting skill is just enough for the lems to fall through the gap to the exit.

2P 29 (Cooperation): I was able to save 4 fencers along the last part of the tunnel to make it 27 of each.

Posting on here (for the first time in 2022) to say that I watched the whole documentary yesterday and was thrilled! Some parts were very satisfying to watch on a big TV screen.

It's a shame that Scott Johnston wasn't in but the rest of the level designers turned up and delivered their thoughts. My favourite parts were Adrian's lemmings cover art, and Gary's Lemming drawings/animation. The sleepy eye expression is so fitting for this game! I also loved watching the lemmings blow up, especially on the big screen and all these seemingly random coloured pixels bursting out like fireworks; but never got the connection that it's actually giving the players and emotional response to the game (If I worded that correctly).

Kudos to Tim Wright too, who overcame the game's limits to give out some fantastic music. Nice to see him in the doc with a variety of keyboards in the background. The passion clearly still shows.

I'm glad someone's had the courage to bring this topic up for NL, as I unknowingly created a similar kind of thread for Lix. (And that these new FX can be downloaded too)

I must mention that the pickup skill sound is also noticeably loud and needs quietening down. That would be at the top of my wish-list.

Hmm... We've had another security breach today from a similar spambot.

Maybe we should try a different approach: If this spambot is using several IPs in a certain range, maybe we should block this range from creating accounts? Some people create accounts via a proxy, which happens on Wikipedia a lot.

(I think this would probably be too tedious as there are so many proxies which change dynamically, so a bot account with admin privileges could be created instead.)

Sorry that I'm late to the party, but I have some important thoughts to raise after trying out the laserer on a few levels now.

Visually, I'm finding the alternating red and white part of the laserer's diagonal beam far too flashy and strobe (And would certainly give my mum a migraine if she saw this). I think yellow and white would be less stroby if we still want a flashing effect; otherwise we should have a constant line with white in the middle and red around the outside (See picture below).

This has come moments after I realised something crucially important about the Laserer from a challenge perspective.

Take Fun 23's "I've lost that Lemming feeling" for example, a level with huge walls that sometimes lead up to the top border when fencing. The fencer stays alive and turns the other way as soon as he touches the top edge.

I don't think this is intended, as he should walk up and die instead, but would anyone else like to share their thoughts on this?

So, I'm thinking about doing a re-run of the new skills challenge thread after the deadline passes. I need to consider one more thing I just stumbled across right now during the level "Patience".

If the lemmings are grouped in a cloned stacker pit, and you use a right-side laserer to set them free, the lemmings will enter out to the left and die. I tried selecting lemmings in the majority AND minority of that pit, and there's no difference, because if a laserer hits terrain in a severely crowded space then it also destroys terrain behind them. This is a nuisance if you're going for 100%, especially if one side's a deadly fall, because there aren't enough stacks to turn those lems into the intended direction.

I've uploaded the level I've modified (which has some new skills added) and the replay. If anyone wants me to draw diagrams then let me know. I'll put it in the OP.

Simply needs a little fix. The 'Nuke' works as normal because it's a different function and the F12 key works fine too, but the 'Timer Bypass' nuke fails to work.
