My 4th round
Hey, look at my no. 3, Icho! haha

My fourth round:

Spoiler

1) Jim Power in Mutant Planet
I've known this one for some time now. Obviously, Huelsbeck's music is very good!

Spoiler

Yeah, it's difficult to pick something out DKC2 OST, all the tracks are some of the best ever VGM.
The beginning of "What Lurks" almost always gives me the chills.

It depends on the track! The track I had in mind ( and I will post  in the thread ) is a really dark electronic track , but it has also very fast tempo and it is very heavy! It's not something that you would call "atmospheric"!

That was my initial idea too, but for me also my track for the third prompt did not turn out to be an atmospheric one. :)

Okay, I've got a better picture now. I suppose I've mostly only listened to tracks that are either just atmospheric or atmospheric + dark/gloomy.

I've got a question: is "dark/gloomy" just a subset of "atmospheric"?

Fourth round for me:

Spoiler

1. Mr. Nutz Hoppin' Mad - Nature (Amiga) - "It's the most peppy thing I've heard in my life" - MechaNeko (source).
2. Donkey Kong Country 2 - Lava Theme
3. Tiberian Sun - What Lurks - incredibly haunting. A listen recommended for head-/ earphones.

3rd round:

Spoiler

1. Mortal Kombat II (Amiga) - BGM04 - I had to ponder this one and dig around a bit in order to find OST from a non-obscure game (I understand that it wouldn't necessarily count as "underrated" if it's not well-known but liked by people who know about it)
2. Captain Claw - Level 14 (The Temple), a tough and punishing level...
3. Super Mario All-Stars (SNES) - Game Select - nostalgic, very much so!

Spoiler
Oh yeah, Bigfoot is a no-brainer. I don't like the remastered version of it much, though.

NeoLemmix Levels / Assorted Gubbins
August 02, 2020, 05:34:00 PM
Here is a compilation of levels made by me after the Snack Pack and until today, and some new ones as well (that's where the pack name came from, you see).
Here's what one of the levels looks like:

Apart from that, this pack contains new levels which you may enjoy, contained in a separate rank; here's what one of these levels looks like:

Tested to be compatible with NeoLemmix versoin 12.9.2.

To install:
1. Download NeoLemmix from here here and extract it to the folder you want.
2. Download Assorted Gubbins (link below) and extract it into the main directory of NeoLemmix.
3. Download the music for Assorted Gubbins (link below as well) and extract it into the main directory of NeoLemmix.
4. Run "NeoLemmix.exe". Press F2 in the main menu for the level browser, the levels of both the Compilation and the Assorted Gubbins (proper) are there for you to play.

DOWNLOAD LINKS:
1. Assorted Gubbins (v 1.00)
2. Music (for Assorted Gubbins)

Many thanks to both the people of LemmingsForums for their help and the creators of the music used in this pack for the inspiration to make this level pack happen!

3 out of the 6 prompts so far have involved picking your favourite track in your category. Are you planning to do a lot of these? They are interesting, but also limiting, I feel.

I agree here.

Congrats to DireKrow and Armani here! :thumbsup::thumbsup:
The Contests always involve tough contenders; this is a big accomplishment!

1. Buried In Time title screen/intro.

Pretty good atmosphere in that one, nice.

@DireKrow
Spoiler

1) Oh yeah, Allister Brimble's good in Alien Breed Tower Assault, Alien Breed 2, or All Terrain Racing.
2) Some of the best C64 music I know, Turrican 3 (it's a fan game BTW!)
3) That's great to read! So cool to see someone appreciate Parodius for its music as well! Cheers!

I've seen Diablo mentioned in another reply. I've played that quite a lot, my favourite track is "Catacombs".

@Armani
Spoiler
You know what, I've beaten Fallout 1 fairly recently. For the eighth time, I think. ;P

@Turrican
Spoiler
I must've heard that Z-Out theme somewhere, I know it! Anyway, it's a great one! :thumbsup:

@grams88
Spoiler
I myself enjoy the Amiga version of the title theme of Menace the most. Nice choice!

@607
Spoiler
Donkey Kong Country 2! :thumbsup: :thumbsup: I really like nearly all the music in this game, which I can't say about most of the games I know! The ice level track is no exception.

When it comes to Parodius, then of course I've played it! I've even got a longplay of it on my channel, look: https://youtu.be/qPaBs4rlcTw?list=PLh-NqKHZgzK32XFIASCQlGs71wOh3ltPC

@Colorful Arty
Spoiler
2) Well, to begin with, the 1) title theme is the Amiga version; the track I put in 2) is a tune from C64! They're simply different machines. If you mean the intricacies of the quality of the videos on YouTube, then I don't really know.
3) The soundtrack of Parodius is comprised mostly of renditions of classical pieces like that, so it's similar to Lemmings in that regard, and I really recommend it as the music is pulled off masterfully, some of the best ever VGM, in my opinion, and particularly on SNES!
#27
I might play some but that depends on what you mean exactly with "evenings".

Contests / Re: Speed level design contest
February 28, 2020, 07:50:26 PM
That's a very interesting idea but it'd probably give me a heart attack. Not saying no to watching it someone posts a video!
#29
I like this idea. I enjoyed the Tame levels as a kid (probably mostly because of the tilesets that sparked my imagination, and also because I couldn't do much about the tougher ratings), I wonder if this could bring some new life to them.

That looks so good! I  really like background you used here! :thumbsup:
