Lemmings Forums Level Contest #15 - Results
« on: October 14, 2018, 08:21:34 am »
Ladies and gentleman, we've got our final results! :)

Congratulations to Colorful Arty for winning the 15th Lemmings Forums Level Contest! I think that's his first victory even. ;)

Also congratulations to SQron188 for reaching the 2nd place! :)

Choice for the prize for the first place is either :

- a month's advertising on the forum's news ticker
- picking the second-next contest's rules as Nepster will determine the rules for the next one
- US $5.00 (PayPal would be the easiest here I think).

Wow, I'm really surprised I won! There were so many good levels in this contest; everyone should be proud of what they made!

Let me share the origin of my levels' names. My family was really into a game called Roller Coaster Tycoon when we were kids. My older brother Link was making a park while the rest of us watched. He was giving his attractions very unique and hilarious names, among them were a Circus show called "It's Magic, Doofus!" and an observation tower called "Meet me in St. Doofus, Doofus!" I being around 8-10 years old at the time thought these names were hilarious, and decided to bring them back for the contest levels. :D

Also, it's a good thing my initial Rule 1 levels idea failed spectacularly, because there's no way those would have beaten the other levels people made. ;)

Congratulations, Arty! I was indeed wondering what "doofus" was supposed to mean, because for Germans it looks quite funny ("doof", i.e. with a long "o" = German for "stupid").

I do remember Roller Coaster Tycoon, even though I've always been more into the Zoo equivalent (the original Zoo Tycoon had expansions for dinosaurs and sea animals, including the option to host dolphin shows).
Ghost Lemmings - help us test a possible new NeoLemmix skill!
My packs so far:

Paralems, a more flavour-driven one, 150 levels
Pit Lems, a more puzzly one, 100 levels
Lemmicks, a pack for NeoLemmix 1.43 full of gimmicks, 170 levels

Doofus does mean "a stupid person" (hence "It's magic, doofus" implies "It's obviously magic, you're silly for thinking otherwise"), and quite possibly comes from the German word, though I never noticed that connection before now :P

Thumbs up to Arty! A really enjoyable pair of levels there, indeed!

I'm really surprised to have come 2nd. I think it's a great result for a freshman like me.
Not sure what made my level appealing enough to get that far.
