Lemmings Paintball MIDIs
« on: January 26, 2018, 12:52:51 AM »
After searching pretty deep. I've finally found the MIDIs from Lemmings Paintball that were ripped straight from the game!
You can use these for anything, really.

My Packs:
Yung's First Level Pack: A pack with 15 levels. Basic knowledge of the new NeoLemmix skills is required.

The Hell Pack: Every level is hell themed. Basic knowledge of the new NeoLemmix Skills is required.

NeoLemmix board seems like a weird place to put this, given that MIDI is one of the formats NeoLemmix doesn't support (unless Nepster has added support for it, but I haven't heard that he has). Though they can be converted to IT format relatively easily, which NeoLemmix does support.
My Lemmings projects
2D Lemmings: NeoLemmix (engine) | Lemmings Plus Series (level packs) | Doomsday Lemmings (level pack)
3D Lemmings: Loap (engine) | L3DEdit (level / graphics editor) | L3DUtils (replay / etc utility) | Lemmings Plus 3D (level pack)

How do I convert MIDI to IT? I posted this here because I posted it on the Discord and thought it would be of use to some people.

I'll convert them to IT format, I know how to do it.

Some songs may need one or two tweaks though. Let's see how it turns out.

Attached the songs automatically converted to it format.

Note that it's not possible to get an automatic perfect conversion due to the way the music formats are different, so somebody with better familiarity with the original tunes should listen to these and see if they can spot any issues with the pitch or volume of various instruments and I'll see if I can tweak them appropriately. It's a lot of work to manually fix a bunch of stuff, so really I'm looking for stuff that sounds particularly bad, like one instrument drowning out the others, or something noticeably way off pitch.

That was a good game :)

I have some OGG recordings, should be 100% accurate to the game. Pretty sure OGG's compatible with NeoLemmix.

Kieran: One thing that often helps is to use a midi editor to change their tempo to 128, then change it back after the conversion.

For some reason, despite not touching this for 16 months, I decided to convert SPDBASS to a tracker module format and not have the trumpets sound awful or the timing all wrong. Not really sure what made me decide out of the blue that that's what I'd be doing today, but here we are. The trumpets are not exactly 100% perfect but it sounds way better than usual.

I also made the track loop properly, and made its volume match those of orig_1 etc that come with Neolemmix, which meant boosting the sample volumes almost 10x!!! Why are the original songs so damn loud?

Anyway feel free to use this cooler version of SPDBASS in your level packs.
