In other words, you could theoretically answer "My ass" to every question. You're probably not likely to score much though.

I'm tempted to do that now, but I already submitted my answers for this round. (Made sure to submit them before anyone else, to avoid any possibility I'm basing them on what other people have answered.)

It's not like this game has been invented on this forum  :P it's based on a TV game show http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Family_Feud

So no, there's most likely not going to be any problem if you host something like that somewhere else

I did say two weeks(ish), so that'll mean around the end of the month. Since the last received answers were just yesterday, I think an early close would be a bit premature at this point.

Received another set of new answers since then. At this point, I'm willing to resolve the feud once we've gone 24 hours (starting from now) without receiving any new submissions.

I almost forgot but finally posted my answers.  Not sure that's worth resetting the 24-hour clock though unless there are other procrastinators like me. :lix-blush:

Have to say, I don't feel like I'll do very well on this round, and at the same time none of the questions were able to inspire me to come up with even one funny/interesting bit of comment.  Maybe that's subconsciously why I procrastinated on this one.

We're about half an hour shy of the 24 hour mark, but it's unlikely we'll get more, so I'll start tallying them up. :)

Alright then! Let's see how things went!

1. Name a place where you would go to buy pizza.

For this one, several answers were variations of generally "a pizza store". I've counted these as the same. However, I counted "restaurant" as seperate, as that doesn't specifically imply a pizza store.

Pizza store / Pizza restaurant / Pizzeria - 6 people (1 point)
> 607, Akseli, grams88, NaOH, Nepster, Timballisto

Pizza Hut - 2 people (0.33 points)
> ccexplore, Simon

Answers given by only one person (0.17 points each)
> geoo: "Restaurant"
> Minim: "Papa John's"
> namida: "Domino's Pizza"

2. Name a country that does not have a president.

For this one, I have counted "UK", "The UK" and "Great Britain" as the same.

Great Britain / The UK - 6 people (1 point)
> 607, ccexplore, geoo, grams88, Minim, Simon

Answers given by only one person (0.17 points each)
> Akseli: "New Zealand"
> namida: "Australia"
> NaOH: "Canada"
> Nepster: "Vatican"
> Timballisto: "Sealand"

3. Name a level from "COVOX Lemmings".

All but one person answered "The COVOX Level" here. That one exception said "the first level", which technically, is The COVOX Level (although a somewhat sneaky way of choosing it). I'll accept that as the same.

With that being said, everyone chose The COVOX Level here, so that's simply 1 point to everyone.

Quote from: 607
3. The COVOX Level (I was really tempted to say "I don't know", but I was too curious to not look it up)

4. Name a commonly-consumed product which is generally thought to be unhealthy.

In this one, I felt the answers were differentiated enough that none should be counted as the same. So...

Pizza - 3 people (1 point)
> Akseli, Grams88, Timballisto

Answers given by only one person (0.33 points each)
> 607: "Candy"
> ccexplore: "Fast food"
> geoo: "Fries"
> Minim: "Lard"
> namida: "Tobacco"
> Nepster: "Chocolate"
> Simon: "Coke"

No answer given (0 points)
> NaOH

Quote from: Simon
4. Coke, the drink

5. Name a dwarf planet.

Well. Every contestant answered "Pluto" to this one, so it's one point to everyone.

Quote from: namida
5. Pluto (I wonder how much "IT'S A PLANET" arguing we'll get :P)

6. Name a real-life venomous creature.

Snake - 8 people (1 point)
> Akseli, ccexplore, geoo, grams88, Minim, namida, NaOH, Simon

Answers given by only one person (0.13 points each)
> 607: "Shark"
> Nepster: "Black Widow"
> Timballisto: "Scorpion"

Quote from: Minim
6. Snake (Or Viper, if you want a more specific answer)

7. Name an evil dictator (past or present).

Well, it seems we had a lot of agreement as to the answer to this question. I considered "Hitler" and "Adolf Hitler" the same answer, obviously.

Hitler - 10 people (1 point)
> 607, Akseli, ccexplore, geoo, Minim, namida, NaOH, Nepster, Simon, Timballisto

Answers given by only one person (0.09 points each)
> grams88: "Saddam Hussein"

Quote from: 607
7. Adolf Hitler (at first I wanted to do Kim Jong Un because I wasn't sure if Hitler was a dictator, but I decided to just go for it)
Quote from: namida
7. Hitler (was very tempted to say "John Key")
Quote from: Nepster
PS: I would stay away from political questions like Q7 in the future. It is too easy to step on someone's toes if answering a present dictator.

8. Name a programming language.

I did NOT consider "C" and "C++" the same for this question. I would assume a lot of people would agree with me on this.

C++ - 5 people (1 point)
> ccexplore, geoo, Minim, Nepster, Simon

Answers given by only one person (0.2 points each)
> 607: "Java"
> Akseli: "C"
> grams88: "Cobol"
> namida: "Delphi"
> NaOH: "D"
> Timballisto: "QBasic" (I would've considered this the same as "Basic" if anyone had answered that)

Quote from: Simon
8. C++ <-- This is an amended answer, my original answer was C; these shouldn't be treated as feud-equivalent. Even though C is more prevalent in open source, I will choose C++ because the non-programmers will think of that more quickly. If HTML wins this, geoo can fetch his salty concoction.

9. Name a version of the Windows operating system.

Probably the most different "not just one person" answers here out of any of these questions. I would've treated "Windows 8" and "Windows 8.1" as equivalent if it came up, but it didn't.

Windows 7 - 4 people (1 point)
> 607, Akseli, ccexplore, geoo

Windows 8 - 3 people (0.75 points)
> grams88, Nepster, Simon

Windows XP - 2 people (0.5 points)
> namida, NaOH

Answers given by only one person (0.25 points each)
> Minim: "Windows 95"
> Timballisto: "Windows 3.1"

Quote from: 607
9. Windows 7 (another good question! I decided to go with what most people use. But I think Windows 95, Vista and XP might also be chosen a lot)
Well, Vista didn't get chosen at all. :P

10. Name a Lemmings Forums member who is not yourself, a global moderator or an administrator.

We had two answers here that ignored the question's limits - but as mentioned above, on feud scoring questions this is irrelevant, the answers are still scored as such. To be specific, we had one user who named themself, and one user who named an administrator. :P

Simon - 6 people (1 point)
> 607, Akseli, geoo, grams88, namida, Simon

Quizmaster - 2 people (0.33 points)
> NaOH, Nepster

Answers given by only one person (0.17 points each)
> ccexplore: "NaOH"
> Minim: "namida"
> Timballisto: "Insane Steve"

11. Pick a whole number between 1 and 25. (Highest number = least points)

A lot of people went for a "pick high numbers so it's hopefully safer" approach here. So, here's the breakdown of what numbers were picked:

22: Minim, NaOH - 0 points
21: namida - 0.6 points
18: grams88 - 0.8 points
17: 607 - 1 point
14: Simon - 1.2 points
6: Akseli, geoo - 0 points
4: Nepster - 1.8 points
1: ccexplore, Timballisto - 0 points

12. Pick a whole number between 1 and 25. (Lowest number = least points)

Some of the "pick low-scoring but safer" numbers strategy still appeared here, but people seemed to be a bit more daring this time around. Interestingly, the 5 lowest answers are the same people in the same order as had the 5 highest answers on question 11, even with a collision between the same two who collided. The same is also true for the single highest number.

4: Minim, NaOH - 0 points
7: namida - 0.6 points
11: grams88 - 0.8 points
17: 607 - 1 point
18: Akseli - 1.2 points
19: Nepster - 1.4 points
20: Simon - 1.6 points
24: geoo - 1.8 points
25: ccexplore, Timballisto - 0 points

13. Guess how many numbers will have "collisions" in question 11 and 12 combined. (Feud scoring)

So back to regular feud-scoring for a moment, we had a bit of overlapping here...

0 collisions - 4 people (1 point)
> 607, Akseli, geoo, Nepster

2 collisions - 2 people (0.5 points)
> ccexplore, namida

5 collisions - 2 people (0.5 points)
> grams88, NaOH

Answers given by only one person (0.25 points each)
> Minim: 3 collisions
> Simon: 1 collision
> Timballisto: 4 collisions

14. Guess how many numbers will have "collisions" in question 11 and 12 combined. (Accuracy scoring)

And the final question - with the most accurate estimate getting 2 points, second most accurate getting 1 point, third most accurate getting 0.5 points, and everyone else missing out.

The correct answer was 5 collisions. These were on numbers 1, 6 and 22 in Question #11, and numbers 4 and 25 in Question #12.

Only one person got the answer exactly - geoo, who earns 2 points!

There were 3 people who guessed 6, and one person who guessed 4, who are all tied for 2nd place. Thus, the points for 2nd and 3rd places will be divided equally among these four people - that's 1.5 points, so 0.38 each (by the usual convention of rounding to 2 decimal places).

These were NaOH, Nepster and Timballisto guessing 6, and namida guessing 4.

Other people's guesses (which unfortunately did not earn them any points) were:
> 607: 11 collisions
> Akseli: 3 collisions
> ccexplore: 3 collisions
> grams88: 7 collisions
> Minim: 3 collisions
> Simon: 2 collisions

TOTAL SCORES

So with that out of the way, the only thing left to do is tally up the total scores. Our results are...

geoo - 13.30 points
Simon - 11.46 points
Nepster - 11.29 points
607 - 10.48 points
Akseli - 10.39 points
grams88 - 9.96 points
ccexplore - 8.33 points
namida - 8.27 points
Minim - 7.17 points
NaOH - 6.90 points
Timballisto - 6.37 points

Thank you for playing, and we look forward to your participation in the next round, which I will now sign onto #lix to see who's interested in hosting it.

Funny, I said I felt uninspired by the round, but now after reading through all the results I actually have more to say than I thought:

1) In rereading the question I kinda wonder why I didn't go for "pizza store". :XD: I did select "Pizza Hut" amongst other brand names as I believe it's more likely to be available internationally and the feud audience is somewhat spreaded out in where they live.
3) I suspect it may be due to that level being the only one mentioned by name anywhere on this forum, I think.  It's definitely how I wound up answering the question--I didn't even have a clue what the level looks like. :XD:
4) I'm rather curious what the outcome would've been if question #1 didn't exist.  It's now impossible to know unless the question is presented to a completely different audience who does not look at this forum (or at least this thread).
7) The Internet kinda made sure of that.  It's kinda sad actually that there's the saying now about how you know an Internet thread has completely devolved into a flame war once someone brings up Hitler. :-\
9) I actually did wonder if XP might end up being a more popular answer simply due to the news (though to be fair, quite old news by now) surrounding Microsoft's unsuccessful "killing" of XP (I heard it's still around 20% even to this day?)  Anyway, this just begs for a similar question about Linux distros to be featured in a future round.
10) I goofed and forgot only Global moderators are mentioned by the question, rather than any moderator.

I'm curious what the Birthday Paradox would say about collision probabilities and whether geoo actually based his #14 answer on that.  Of course, technically it doesn't directly apply since people aren't selecting the numbers at random.

I was actually going to say Kim Jong-Il for #7 myself, but (correctly) figured almost everyone else would say Hitler. xD (Kim Jong-Un just doesn't strike me as nearly as evil...)

You actually had answers numbered 4 and 5 (and missed 6), but the answers quite clearly corresponded to questions 5 and 6, so I treated them as such.

If anyone's wanting to take the next one, PM me (on this account, not QuizMaster) or post in this topic.

I didn't know what venomous meant :P Else, I probably would've gone with snake ;)
At first I wanted to do C++, but I was afraid people could also easily say C or C#, which are all different, even though the names are similar. And I thought Java could easily get some too. But alas.
