Here's yet another odd lemmings soundtrack. The Adventures of Lomax!

music.nxmi file is included so you can drop it in any level pack and use it easily. (add music files to music folder)

As usual, these music tracks may be used freely with no credit to me necessary.

From your short list at the end I think I prefer the BlowTorcher that can cut through steel.

The weapons would be cool if we had more than just zombies.
I've thought about suggesting SLX add the weasels from Lemmings Revolutions. A weasel would be an upright walking weasel much like the lemming itself. They are placed in one location where they walk back and forth without the ability to fall off an edge. If they touch a lemming they simply cause the lemming to turn around. If a weasel was walking in front of the exit he'd need to be removed to allow the lemming to exit. The weasel combined with a weapon pickup skill could make for a cool level. And you could throw a zombie in too.

NeoLemmix Levels / Re: The Blizzard of Lemm level pack
« on: August 16, 2023, 02:42:41 AM »
Blizzard of Lemm was a collection of snow levels that were considered old back in 2014. They all needed modded because superlemmini made a change and lems walked over the exit and not into it.

The community placed all these old levels into zips and put them online to preserve them. I took out the snow levels for the pack and updated them to work with the new superlemmini... because the xmas suits were coming out soon.

These are old levels. I wish I would have saved the whole archive now, snow and classics. They probably disappeared with the old geocities or something.

Lemmings Main / Re: Lemmings 2 - How to Exit from In-Game?

I prefer to play Lemmings 2 in dosbox. Then I can hit ctrl+f9 to shut it off immediately.

(if you're using my portable version of lemmings 2 for windows this can cause your last save to be lost though.)

For me the dos version is better. I can open level files in text editors and do things alien to me in the Amiga version. And I'm a dos pc guy since the early 80s.

The last time I played those levels was in 2015 using superlemmini. (Other than some quick tests after conversion)
Your snow palace solution was very good.

I couldn't figure these out quickly, that's for sure. I believe Kaywhyn has beaten all of these levels somewhat recently. I can't remember if he played this on superlemmini or Neolemmix though.

The levels are:
Drift 2, Hit the Slopes
Drift 4, Icy Tombs
and Whiteout 7, Center of attention

Your Whiteout 4 solution was somewhat backrouted, the steam trap failed to hit the lemmings. I fixed and attached the updated level here. Your same method should work It'll just need the blocker repositioned.

I'm just attaching this sound file for anyone not familiar with the sound.

I think the sound is pretty good, it's just used far too much at times.

I'm not very good at the really hard levels. I enjoy the easier-to-medium difficulty. And I love all those text intros on world tour. I liked the clues.

I do complete the high-difficulty levels packs too, I just don't enjoy them as much and peek at replays if I'm stuck too long on a level... which happens often on some packs.

I love when someone refers a good pack to me. It's a hard decision with so many out there. I like packs that use the new skills lately.

Here's a link to my portable DOS lemmings 2. It'll run on windows if anyone here wants to test the shimmier interaction.

On the DOS version of Lemmings 2 I can't get it to happen. He shimmies right, then when he reaches the end he dangles and waves, eventually falling down.

He was already a climber. He was a slider too. The fact that he dangles and waves seems to indicate something can be done with him, but I have had no luck.

My copy of Amiga Lemmings 2 will not let me click practice mode. So I can't easily test Amiga. But it doesn't seem to work on DOS.

41
With Lemmings 2 I cannot get a lemming to shimmy right and then climb up at the end. He just hops down.

I forgot that Lemmings 2 has a dangler animation after sliding down a wall AND after shimmying across a wall. I thought Will invented the dangler. The lem waves his arm to get your attention similar to how SLX has the little lines that seem to mark his frustration.

Is there any advantage to adding the dangler animation to the shimmier as well? I don't see the advantage to it in L2 yet.

Here are all the frames for the Bazooka sprite.

If we fire the bazooka strictly horizontally we may not need frames 11-18 as they aim upward.

Any lemmings close to the detonation crator are affected and flung. I couldn't get the lemming firing the bazooka to be flung except once when i fired into the ceiling direcly above him.

The bazooka misses lemmings and hits terrain. Which would make it good for hitting zombies and balloons.

So the Boomerang, in this case, would fling the lemming back over that wall?

I drew the pink line to indicate the travel arc of the boomerang. To show how the boomerang could move over, or through terrain by basically ignoring terrain. If there was a lemming near that green brick wall he wouldn't be thrown far enough the clear the wall.
A boomerang would be bigger than the average ammo round or grenade, so it could hit a target easier. And after it travels horizontally through its course it turns upward to capture a bit more ground and sails up and off the screen.

This is just my quick idea of how a long-range non-destructive flinger could work. The most debateable part of this idea is how I describe it as passing through terrain by ignoring terrain. It would be passing over or in front of it visually. No destruction at all. only hits lems\zombies.

I like the bazooker idea too. And I think the bazooker should leave a crater. And like Lemmings 2 I think the location of the crater should determine the nearby lemmings that are flung. I like the original batter idea too.

44
If this was a real human performing this action he would indeed be facing left when he arrived at the top. But he would also continue to run circles around that terrain forever too.

walk left, slide down facing right, shimmy right, climb up facing left, walk left again.

Yeah, by ranged batter I mean the bazooker, or anything similar that is brought up here.

I do like the horizontal long-range batter skill of the bazooker... but I wanted to bring just one more up here. I started thinking about this last night when I saw Floyd's first post in the (projectiles pop balloons) thread. He threw out the name Boomeranger. I doubt he had all this in mind, but as said in the above post there are a few disadvantages of the bazooker being strictly horizontal. So, what if we considered a boomeranger that completely ignores all terrain. It just flies in a horizontal line over everything, then curves around to cover a bit more ground and flies off the screen?

This would hit lemmings only and fling them. It would cause no damage to terrain. It would work just like a batter up close. It would hit any lemming in a straight line. Then turn around and fly away. It could also use the current thrower animation too.

If we insist we want terrain damage the bazooker might be better.

Maybe this is a terrible idea, I'm not sure. But I wanted to dwell on the boomerang skill for a minute here.
