SuperLemmix / [SLX] Lemmings - To the Rescue! (8 Levels) [V2 UPDATE]
« on: November 29, 2023, 02:07:46 AM »

16 Levels made to show off my new "rescue" idea - each level features a number of neutral lemmings which must be rescued by the regular lemmings.

This pack also shows off the new features of SLX including the Ballooner and Ladderer skills, as well as making use of many of those little differences SLX has too.

Version 2 features a number of revisions by WillLem, including a group of easier versions of the levels. This version also fixes the levels and ensures that all lemmings which are meant to be neutrals are now neutrals.

To install, unzip the attached folder to your SuperLemmix directory.

Have you ever considered recoloring swimmer lemmings to look like the revolution's water lemmings? If your changes cause a boost in swimmer levels it might be beneficial to quickly identify lemmings that can swim. It's basically the same as an athlete recoloring.

I would like to suggest the ability to give bombers and freezers their own sound effects.
I like to use an alternate "bang!" sound for the bomber, but prefer the standard blip sound for a freezer.
Could we change the default for both to use the default sound? But allow each to have their own sound effect?

This way we can change one, or both to another sound, but the defaults would be the same for anyone who prefers
the default.

I also feel that the spearer should have some type of "thud" sound when the spear hits its target. This would really
make the effect realistic.

NeoLemmix Main / Amiga, Win95 and more Music tracks
« on: June 27, 2023, 10:01:07 PM »

This is a link to download the audio tracks for the Windows 95 version of Lemmings.

I Loaded the soundfont for the Midi files, converted the audio to MP3 format and trimmed the files so they will loop properly.

Why did I bother doing this? Well, I was playing around with the Win95 version of Lemmings and I noticed many of the music tracks
really have a deep groovy Bass that works my computer's subwoofer more than any other version. And I wanted to hear more of it.
So here it is for anyone else that wants to groove out.

*Edit This whole pack has been re-made and replaced today in Ogg format. I have also added the DosCD version of the two omitted songs, Doggie and Forest Green.
Music.nxmi file is included to drop in your level folder. Just put the audio tracks in your main music folder.

SuperLemmix Bugs & Suggestions / [SUG] Return of the Stoner?
« on: June 23, 2023, 04:05:39 PM »
This is a discussion to see how users feel about returning the Stoner to Super Lemmix.

Personally I see nothing but gain with bringing these guys back. We have other skills that are similar, like fencer/laserer. We'd just have freezer/stoner going forward.
As someone who's been converting level packs to SLX I can say the stoner is always the biggest obstacle with changing the packs over for me. Adding the stoner back will make conversion faster and easier and ease the minds of those considering converting their packs. Many levels requiring the stoner/stacker interaction can't be replicated; the freezer/laserer will often laser far too much and the fencer won't create a step from the freezer block.

Some level packs aim for a creepy vibe, (like the zombie pack I've been converting,) and the stoner adds a nice element to those levels with the creepy and sacrificed lemmings.

I will say I generally prefer the freezer. It's more usable and friendlier-looking. But I believe the stoner has its place here.

In Development / Level Pack creation tools
« on: June 22, 2023, 05:29:24 PM »
I created these two utilities to aid with creating level packs and I wanted to share them. These eliminate the tinkering and time-consuming process of these tasks and can help newer level-builders to properly format their levels.

Create LEVEL file.bat
If you place this file inside any folder containing your level (nxlv files) and run it, it will generate the (levels.nxmi) file necessary for your pack. The levels will be in alphabetical order, and everything will work.

Create MUSIC file.bat
If you place this file inside the folder containing your music tracks and run it, it will generate the (music.nxmi) file necessary for your pack. Then just place the tracks in your music folder and the music.nxmi file in your level pack and it'll work.

*Edit: Updated both of these slightly. The programs could list non track/level entries before if circumstances were right.

This suggestion comes from GigaLem. He asked me to paraphrase our Discord conversation and create a suggestion for him.

He said to me:
"If there's one request I'd want, since SLX has the spearer and grenader, and the Millas are throwing these, is the phantom cubes. Since Millas is based on the Game "Freedom Planet" it'd only make sense for the grenades to look like these cubes for the Millas sprites, just adapting those to fit the size of the grenade."

I would agree as well. Different packs could easily have their own form of a grenade. And this feature can bring a great level-maker to into the SLX system for his future packs.

The phantom cube is basically a bright green square (see image). But I can absolutely foresee many level-makers utilizing this ASAP.

Closed SuperLemmix Bugs / Suggestions / (SUG) Allow music intros
« on: June 17, 2023, 06:00:36 PM »
I'd like to request Music track intros...

Superlemmini added this feature a while back to allow music intros. If the music track is insanity.ogg you could add intro_insanity.ogg and superlemmini would play the intro one time before starting the main track.

This works easily and can really change the music when the intro is larger.

SuperLemmix Bugs & Suggestions / (SUG) Modification to Styles format
« on: June 17, 2023, 05:55:52 PM »
You could modify the Styles system to allow custom graphics by changing the name. To change walker.png you can add walker_2.png to the image and the game will always prefer the highest number? (Could also just place a 'mod' folder inside the desired style folder and not rename)

I remember superlemmini talking about making a change like this.

This styles could be tweaked further to only use the additional numbered graphics if indicated by a key-press or addition to the level file. It would allow different-themed lemmings on the screen at the same time too.

Doing this for the styles would let people add their own stuff without overwriting default styles. This would allow updating the styles without over-writing their changed parts too.

With the blessing from Strato Incendus I have converted his World Tour Level pack for the Super Lemmix player.

This has been updated since I first shared it a few days ago.

Most replays are from the NeoLemmix post, many are new.

The Music Pack can be found here...
https://www.dropbox.com/s/g6i82fdlg9w713y/Lemmings%20World%20Tour%20Music%20Pack.zip?dl=1

(6/3/2023) Already had one small update... 1.2 now!
(6/7/2023) Two Freezer levels fixed and three replays updated. 1.3 now!
(7/6/2023) With SLX2.4 we can now use the original replay for nm39 and the styles are now in the styles pack.

I love the YIPEE! sound when entering home. But I also get sick of hearing it so much I changed it to BOING!
It might be pleasant to mix the two... only yell yippee on first or last lemming? Or every 3rd one yells Yippee?
Or always do the "Boing" in ffwd mode?

I think three sound samples that have a random-fire method would be lifelike and not as robotic as a perfect 1-2-3 system.
A boing, a swoosh, and a yippee.

I attached the third swoosh sound I had in mind.

*Edit: I edited the WAV file and added a shortened version now.

Closed SuperLemmix Bugs / Suggestions / [SUG] Turbo FF speed
« on: May 29, 2023, 05:06:19 PM »
Sometimes it would be nice to have a faster FFWD option. The same speed as Rewind would be great, that is a nice speed. (IMO)

I believe Super Lemmini too offered an option for faster FFWD speed. Something like this would leave it up to the player and could even have multiple speed options.

NeoLemmix Levels / The Blizzard of Lemm level pack
« on: May 19, 2023, 08:23:02 PM »

This is a level pack I put together in 2015 for Super Lemmini, updated for NeoLemmix/SLX.
This is 65 levels of Snow/xmas themed levels in four ranks made by members of the Lemmings community
long ago. I originally wanted to make this because I created the santa suit lemming animations for Super
Lemmini and wanted a level pack to come out at the same time.

Lots of thanks to Kaywhyn for converting the Super Lemmini pack so I could get this all working.

Update: I added a music file if the one included doesn't work.

Why do the blockers only turn their heads right and then center over and over?

On Lemmings 95 they turn all the way right and all the way left over and over. Like they're saying NO, you may not pass.

I'd like to request a slight change.

I love how the RMB and LMB work similar to the frame-skip forward and back buttons on NeoLemmini.

But, I really would love for the effect to continue if you hold down the button like holding it down on NL works. This would save my mouse button a million clicks.
