[NeoLemmix] Zemmings Vol. 2
« on: January 11, 2017, 06:37:08 AM »
Zemmings Vol. 2

This pack features eight new levels using the sKiwi graphics.
I also included my contest 11 entry as a bonus at the end since it sorta shares a theme.
If you have any issues, let me know. I'll try to fix it asap. Enjoy!

Made for NeoLemmix V 2018-01-21 Full and newer.

Here's my replays for four of the levels in the pack. I was only able to beat Toothpaste Temple and Melon Dungeon. Think Vertical Thoughts is backroute as I didn't use the digger and didn't use all the bashers and walkers, while Crumble Cake Dungeon is a huge backroute.

This pack is definitely a lot more challenging than Volume 1 (in particular the ones I haven't beaten yet). I enjoyed Melon Dungeon because it has a very cool solution.

I'll see if I ever get around to beating the rest of the levels!

Thanks for playing Wafflem! Glad you liked Melon Dungeon, that's probably my favorite of this pack.

Your solution for level 2 is close enough to intended. I was really generous with the skills. That is the most vertical thought I've ever seen  It's a really simple level, which probably should have been swapped with level 1.

You're right about Crumble Cake though. I'll jump on that.

This pack really is a lot harder. I'm trying some easier levels for Vol. 3., kinda in the style of "You Live and Lem" with large levels but lots of skills, allowing many solutions. This pack is hard though. :XD:

I've played the unbeaten levels as well as Bird Knight right after posting my initial replays and found backroutes in Doomdoria, Uphill Battle and It's All Downhill from Here (these still work in the new version). I really like the music in Downhill, that music IMO is the best of the pack!

Looking forward to Vol. 3! You Live and Lem is one of my favorite levels, and it's always great to have levels with multiple solutions!

Wafflem, I just uploaded version 3 to fix that backroute on Doomdoria (Level 4). That was a bad one. Thanks for catching that. Glad you like the music! I need to hunt down some more like it.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

GigaLem, it will be a new tileset, but I'm still working out the details. I'm trying to focus on terrain pieces that lend to interesting level design and aren't just for looks. At first, I was thinking of ripping some graphics from an existing game, but I think I'll make another set from scratch.

Arty, thanks! Glad you like them. I look forward to the stream.

This should be the intended solution for Doomdoria. That level was quite hard; I think it'd work better as Level 7, before the Great Bomber Escape.

I think I found another backroute for Crumble Cake Dungeon. Love the music there as well, it's quite haunting and chilling!

EDIT: And a replay for the Great Bomber Escape. Phew, that one was quite tough and a great way to finish the pack! I didn't use all the bombers, though.

Can't wait to see what tileset you're working on next! Though I do remember you mentioning that you wanted to do a tileset based on AWESOME or Agony, I'm especially looking forward to the AWESOME one when you get around to making one!

Nice work Wafflem! There's a few ways to solve levels 4 and 8, your solutions are pretty much spot on. You managed to bypass a certain roadblock on level 8, but I think it's fine. I like your solution. Your right about level 7 though, that's another backroute. I'll try to fix that later.

Sorry Mobius for such a late reply, I've been busy with something. I got the music from a Megazeux community. I think everything I've used so far is from CJA's Old mod pack.

http://vault.digitalmzx.net/show.php?id=1540

It's a collection of songs made by various users of that site. It's a fun site to browse if you like ASCII style games like Dwarf Fortress and ZZT. I used to make games with this engine, even posted a little demo game seven years ago (lol, I feel old).
