Here's a new topic for posting any levelpacks made for superlemmini or lemmini!

Here's my first try at making a superlemmini levelpack. This levelpack has five levels, the last of which(alphabetically) uses a glitch. Make sure to send me a replay of any backroutes you find. Any feedback is appreciated! Have fun!

Note that the Windows midis are required to play. If you don't have them I will upload them when I get access to a computer.

EDIT: I have done that now.

Thanks for finding that glitch. As a heads-up, I'm going to have that fixed in the next SuperLemmini release, so that level will only work properly in 0.101 (assuming that glitch is required).

The glitch is the only solution. My finding it came from testing the level and the intended solution, but the basher hit the cracks at the bottom and wrapped up. The purpose of the level is to show off the glitch.

Here's five more levels. None of them use glitches this time. ;P

Once again, replays for the solutions are included with the levels.

I've made a backroute fix for The Hunt for Lemming Autarky. It makes the second starting steel block fully steel(instead of only having the visual parts be steel). This removes a major backroute that saves three bashers and doesn't use the glitch. I don't know why I like this level so much.

For those of you who don't know me, I'm Colorful Arty, a Youtube Let's Player and brand new member of the Lemmings Forums.

I am currently working on a very large SuperLemmini pack, which contains five main difficulties (with 20 levels apiece), 10 tutorial levels, and a bonus pack with 20 levels.

But before that comes out, I also am testing and perfecting a pack called Reverse Lemmings. It's the original Lemmings, but with the entrance and exit swapped and different skills assigned. Once I have ensured all of the levels work (I am carrying these levels over from regular Lemmini), I can post them here if people are interested.

Make a dedicated topic in the SuperLemmini board for your huge pack!
We don't have many topics there these days, so a nice huge level pack is perfect there ;)

As an example for you, I post my own release topic of Lemmings Reunion here: http://www.lemmingsforums.net/index.php?topic=2175.0
A nice release thread makes a good first impression ;)

And as I see I have to warm up SuperLemmini for your pack + your contest levels :)
But you should introduce yourself to NeoLemmix and Lix aswell as it seems that the contest will have entries from all 3 engines!

I link Nepster's NeoLemmix maunal for you to make your start easier as it shows you all the hotkeys and functions: http://www.lemmingsforums.net/index.php?topic=2414.0

And here is also the Lix homepage: http://asdfasdf.ethz.ch/~simon/download.php

Welcome!

I would be interested to see the results of your Reverse Lemmings. It's similar to a challenge we've done before -- challenge thread -- but ours was strictly "keep the original skills if possible, or find the minimum number that need to be added", rather than adding skills to make the reverse level an artistically interesting puzzle.

Colorful Arty

Excellent!

The main reason I like SuperLemmini is because I can use .wav files for the music. Are there any advantages to Lix and NeoLemmix? I have the NeoLemmix level editor, but it seems really complicated. I like my lemmings fairly simple.

NeoLemmix:

+ Supports a variety of music formats (quoting namida in chat: "either OGG or a tracker-based format (IT / MOD / etc) is the best option, but WAV, AIF and MP3 are also supported (but not recommended; WAV and AIF tend to be huge, while MP3 isn't exactly the most efficient in terms of loading times)")
+ Framestepping
+ Untimed bombers
+ 8 new skills
+ A variety of interesting new objects

Lix:

+ Excellent user-friendly editor
+ Multiplayer
+ Framestepping
+ Untimed bombers
+ 6 new skills (walker same as NeoLemmix, others different)

- No music (yet; Rubix is working on this)

If you have music in wav format you'd like converted to something else I may be able to help you. Just let me know the details. :)

Platformer too. It does function slightly differently, but it's essentially the same skill. ;)

QuoteI have the NeoLemmix level editor, but it seems really complicated.

Are you using Lemmix Editor or jLevelBuilder for your levels? If you're using the former, the NeoLemmix Editor isn't too much different (and even if you choose to stick with SuperLemmini, the NeoLemmix Editor will allow you to use some SuperLemmini features that didn't exist in regular Lemmini and therefore aren't supported by Lemmix Editor / jLevelBuilder).

And indeed, NeoLemmix does support WAV music, though as mentioned above it isn't recommended.

In my opinion at least, the only real advantages SuperLemmini has over NeoLemmix are higher-resolution graphics, and cross-platform support (although this is to some extent negated by the fact that NeoLemmix works fairly well under WINE on Mac / Linux). Lix has neither of these disadvantages, although it does lack music support, and may not feel as "Lemmings-y" due to it using only newly-made graphics. Do be aware that while it's quite easy to port content from SuperLemmini to NeoLemmix (and in reverse, provided you don't use any NeoLemmix-exclusive features), it's much harder to port between those two and Lix.
My projects
2D Lemmings: NeoLemmix (engine) | Lemmings Plus Series (level packs) | Doomsday Lemmings (level pack)
3D Lemmings: Loap (engine) | L3DEdit (level / graphics editor) | L3DUtils (replay / etc utility) | Lemmings Plus 3D (level pack)
Non-Lemmings: Commander Keen: Galaxy Reimagined (a Commander Keen fangame)

Hello @exit

Sorry for reviving such an old topic, and I know it's been a while since you were last active here, but I have finally uploaded video solutions to your 10 levels:

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLbp2m4KlFpJtnZLGTxKhQYYaF5lpZGyVR Enjoy! :P

Unless otherwise noted in the video title, these replays were all made with v0.104a of SuperLemmini, which is currently the most recent version of the engine Tsyu released. I also made some solutions with v0.102b, which is the last version to have timed bombers. Finally, your intended solution to "The Hunt for Lemming Autarky" I made with v0.101, which is the last version in which the glitch is possible on SuperLemmini. Honestly, I myself would not had ever figured that out, as I would had simply expected the Lemming to just die because they fell into the bottomless abyss. It's probably not as strange as it appears, though. I didn't grow up playing it on that port, but I believe there are some hidden secret exits on the Amiga port of ONML? I don't know all the details, but as SuperLemmini seems to mostly imitate Amiga physics, maybe that's what's happening in that video with the "warping"? Also this is exactly how the "wrap" gimmick worked in very early versions of NL, where if the vertical wrap gimmick was enabled then Lemmings that fell through the bottom of the level will reappear at the top of the level, and similarly for horizontal wrap the Lemmings exit out one side and will reappear on the opposite level edge.

That reminds me. I still need to release Lemmix pack for NL :-[

edit: Attached my replays now too!
