What I naively started over a year ago is finally finished.
I just released my PICO-8 demake of Lemmings, recreating all 100 levels from the NES version!
A huge thanks to Eric Billingsley for the amazing soundtrack, and to MissMouse for the incredible CANVAS and PAKRAT libraries that made this project possible.
You can play it directly in your browser or download it from itch-io Pico-8 Lemmings.
or check it out on the Pico-8 Lexaloffle BBS Pico-8 Lemmings.

Hope you enjoy it! Would love to hear what you think!

I played it a little and wow, this is a pretty great demake! It really feels like something that would be released when lemmings was being ported to everywhere ;)
I'm familiar with PICO-8 and the impressive stuff that people make in it, and this is another gem of those.
Despite not liking the NES version that much, I still greatly enjoyed this port, I think you did a really great job!
The abouslute most trash lemmings player you ever seen :P
(Also it's spelled Erick, not Eric or Erik)

Thanks so much!  :cute:  Really appreciate the kind words, and I'm glad you enjoyed it! I had a lot of fun making it, so it's really great to see people enjoying it too. Thanks for checking it out!  :)

Hey Buzzard!

I played through the entire Fun rank of your PICO-8 demake and it's fantastic so far  The gameplay feels good and I absolutely adore the music.

I'm also really glad that the demake recreated the levels from the NES version specifically. I played the NES version a ton in the past and even though it's not my favorite port, I always thought it had some really interesting variations and takes on some of the original levels.

But yep, great job
My Lemmings Packs:
- Lemmings Migration [NeoLemmix] - 40 levels
- Lemmings Migration [RetroLemmini] - Thanks ericderkovits for the conversion!
- Lemmings Destination [NeoLemmix] - 100 levels + 11 contest levels

Lemmings Projects In Development:
- Nothing yet

Hi Nessy,
Thanks you much! 😊 Really glad you're enjoying it!
The NES version actually felt like a good starting point for a PICO-8 demake, since it already had to work within quite a few limitations. I did borrow a lot from the Amiga version (and SNES) though, like the improved Lemming sprites, tiles, cursor, and various other little details.
And it's really cool to hear from someone who actually played the NES version a lot and appreciates those level variations! 😄
And if you feel like leaving a little rating or review on itch, that would be hugely appreciated and really helps! 😊

*P.S. The music was done by Eric Billingsley, he's awesome! We used the SNES music as a reference, and he absolutely nailed it.

I had a quick play with it. Honestly - I have to say the gameplay feels more comparable to the SMS version than the NES version (that's not a bad thing; the SMS version is one of the best ports IMO).
My projects
2D Lemmings: NeoLemmix (engine) | Lemmings Plus Series (level packs) | Doomsday Lemmings (level pack)
3D Lemmings: Loap (engine) | L3DEdit (level / graphics editor) | L3DUtils (replay / etc utility) | Lemmings Plus 3D (level pack)
Non-Lemmings: Commander Keen: Galaxy Reimagined (a Commander Keen fangame)

Hi Namida,
Thanks for checking it out! I'll definitely take that as a compliment, thanks!  :)
The Master System version is actually the one I've played the least. What I mainly based on the NES version were the levels and the smaller sprites.
although I did end up leaning a little more towards the Amiga version with the sprites.

Here's an example of how I adjusted the climber to lean a bit more towards the Amiga version:

For the gameplay itself, I tried to stay closer to the SNES and Amiga versions.
