Not when you consider the fact that the Lemming doublers are buffs which they are technically charging money for in the form of microtransactions. You do get them occasionally for free but they are rare, it's just nice if they actually helped in tournament Lemming counts. I just don't see any use for the Lemmings doublers if they cannot be used to buff numbers in tournament play.
Well, it might not earn the developers more money then, but I would prefer games that aren't pay-to-win.
The limited exit is an interesting idea, I wonder what you could do with that!

Help & Guides / Re: Lemmings 1 Graphics and Music error

Huh, that is interesting! So you can fix it, and if I understand correctly in versions of DOSBox before a certain time the default settings had the issue not occur? Now I can imagine not having the issue as a kid, but I have gotten so used to it that I feel like I've always had it. :P But I guess it did indeed start occuring when I reinstalled DOSBox after getting a new pc. I have had such recall issues with games before!
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
And thanks for explaining the issue, as well. :)

The regular DOS version does have a music bug, but it has nothing to do with notes being in the wrong place. The issue is that the music cycle restarts whenever you fail a level or start a new game. In case you haven't got the fix for that yet, here it is. If you want to make sure the music is sounding right, compare against this video.
I guess the colours on the level preview screen are indeed a bug. I've gotten used to it, but yeah, it's likely indeed supposed to look like the results screen. :P I don't find it hard to read, maybe you just need to get used to it? I would like to see one of the videos you mention! Are you sure it's the DOS version?
In case you didn't know, you can choose for high-quality colours on the skillbar, that also differ depending on the graphic set used, by pressing 2 instead of 1 on the pc selection screen. This also makes the fade-outs be slower, which can help on levels with a tight time limit. ;)
Have fun! :)

Thanks for the detailed post, Flopsy! Interesting to hear that this is still going, and seemingly going fairly strong.
Isn't this a good thing, though? :P
(sadly Double Lemming multipliers or Lemmings given as rewards for watching ads don't count towards your total, they have to be actually saved on a level to count)

Huh, that's cool!
Yes, I do know Lemmings Returns... in fact, for some reason I got a lot of views on my handful of videos of it, even though I only did the first few levels, which really shouldn't need a walkthrough. :P

Any chance of re uploading the updated version? Your link does not work, says blog not found. I missed this last year. I bought your book but would love to get hold of the updated PDF version, many thanks.

It's the high res version I'd like. Anyone prepared to share?
Aw, that's unfortunate. I wonder if we'll ever get another update, then...
I wouldn't mind sending the pdf, but it's copyrighted, I suppose?

I might celebrate my birthday then (it's on the 28th but my sister's best friend is getting baptised on Sunday), so I probably won't come! But I'll try to remember the option. ;)

Non-Lemmings Gaming / Re: Baba is You (puzzle game)

Basically, the demo version is more like an early beta, less like a limited free trial of full version.
That is always the case, if the demo is the original Jam entry. ;)

That's great, thanks for sharing!
I'd but it if I had a Switch. ;)
The only game with a similar mechanic I know is Nitrome's free platformer changeType(), where you swap around blocks with enemies, coins with springs and so forth, but you can only have one swapping active at a time.

Very nice, thanks for sharing!
Yeah, the hair bounce is rather unnatural in the first attempt. :P It's exaggerated in the second, but it's actually fluid, so I like it!

Heh, it's been a while! We'll see, it might be a week, it might be a year ere I continue. ;)
Edit: These messages do help me remember the possibility, though!
Edit 2: I played some Lemmings 95... I'm getting to the end of Tricky, and it actually is tricky! :P I honestly hadn't expected that, already having beaten so much of Mayhem in the DOS version!

Do you guys know about
It's an online radio station where you can request tracks yourself. :) The track will play after 60-100 minutes, generally. There are currently 7267 albums on there. :o
For $6 monthly you can be VIP and request tracks more often. ;) There's also a very nice community that's formed mostly in the chatbox. :D
The website is quite outdated though, and not everything works as you would expect on the internet in this age, unfortunately. But the content and people make that a very small issue!

... No, I'm not sponsored by SST, I just wanted to let people know, as I feel like some here might enjoy it. ;)

Edit: This website features soundtracks from movies, games and tv series: there are sister websites for 80's pop music, death metal, EDM and classical music as well, although those aren't as big.
