Lemmings Main / Re: The Lost Hebrew version of Lemmings for PC (MS-DOS)
« on: February 13, 2022, 11:16:10 AM »
this may be completely dumb and random but anyone notice the odd mark on the right side of the box; in the black/dark area; it looks kind of like a mask/ghost like face.

Also noticed for the first time that there's lemmings near the bottom of the picture with boxing gloves, punching each other.
That's dust, I'm quite certain. The boxing glove Lemmings are on all (or at least most :P) versions of the cover.

Definitely Cavelem. I tend to enjoy cave music in general, and this one's so nice! It's both relaxing and upbeat. I also like the overall progression. There are nice buildups, and the actual melodies are nice. Just a lovely theme!

Huh, that's interesting, has anyone else looked into it? Is there anyone knowing Hebrew here? That might facilitate the search.

Interesting to see that the L2 Classic tribe tileset looked very different from the final version (while all the other tile sets shown look pretty much like their final versions).
I guess they realized merging different tile sets from L1 didn't work very well due to the palette restrictions?
Though the holes in the pillars also didn't make the cut, I wonder why that is.
Good catch. I thought something was up with that, but because I haven't played Lemmings 2 much it didn't click. I wasn't paying a lot of attention at that point of the video either, because I thought "I've seen the tilesets".
I found it interesting that Neil forgot to include a trapdoor and remarked this, and then wondered why the level got messed up. I wonder if that's indeed what caused it.

Lemmings Main / Re: The Lemmings The Ports Book

Hi PixieDreams, very sorry that I missed your post back in May last year. Do you still want the PDF of the updated version?

By the way did you know that JayCee is selling an updated (but content reduced) version of the book?

See here,

Someone asking about the book in another topic made me remember this. Did anyone end up getting this or not? The eBay page isn't up anymore.

I will dm you the 2018 revision of Lemmings - The Ports. Not sure if it should be put up publicly, considering that the author has previously tried selling the book again (I'm not sure if anything came of that, though?).

Huh, I'm surprised to see 'pioneer' mentioned by almost everyone, as I don't think I ever came across it before.

Site Discussion / Re: [SUG] Allow video embedding

Whatever you do, make sure that embeds are an option to be specifically gone for. Do not automatically turn YouTube links into embeds, because it is often unnecessary, and in some cases undesired.

Help & Guides / Re: Level Codes
« on: January 21, 2022, 04:08:28 PM »
Hi SFBrains!
It looks like they are the same passwords from other systems. Those are easily found online, so there's no need to copy them!
If you'd want to play Lemmings on Windows 10 natively, you could try Lemmings 95. However, I would recommend getting DOSBox instead, essentially emulating an old pc inside your modern pc.
Alternatively, you could look to one of the various modern fan recreations of Lemmings, such as Lemmix, Lemmini or NeoLemmix. If you'd like a short introduction on those, I'm sure someone would be willing to give one. Personally, I prefer to stick with the original PC version. :)

Lemmings Main / Re: [INDEX] Official Lemmings resources

There are a bunch of Lemmings rips on Zophar's Domain. These rips aren't always quite correct, however. The most common issues are stereo soundtracks ripped in mono, and clipping. They should be checked against real hardware, perhaps.

What do you mean with 'Official Lemmings resources'? Upon clicking the topic, I was assuming it meant guides, manuals et cetera, that were distributed with authorisation from Psygnosis or Sony (or whomever else has held the rights to Lemmings).
However, on reading the posts, it looks like you mean graphics and music from the games? What does 'official' indicate, then?

It's either a coincidence, or maybe the designer who made the hardest levels just favoured the marble tileset, and these happen to be grouped together in Mayhem because they're hard. Now that you've mentioned this, I have a feeling that all of the difficult marble levels were made by the same designer. Further study of those levels may reveal stylistic consistencies...
Plausible!
Hmm! I didn't realise this. Another reason to think of the Amiga version as definitive, perhaps? ;P
Or a reason to think of the DOS version as definitive. :P Although it doesn't have the 2 player mode or the intro.
