General Discussion / Re: Lemmings Forums on Youtube
« on: July 24, 2015, 01:20:49 PM »
So I've decided to start doing this YouTube level show-off thing, too. I only have one on my channel currently, and it uses a glitch in the solution. I'll only post levels with glitches extremely rarely. Here's the link if you want to watch:

No Added Colours or Lemmings(Mayhem 20) uses the trick to turn around the lemming so that he can mine under the blocker. I think that's the first time you're required to use it, but there are many levels where knowing that trick can be useful. Unless you're making a lemmings tutorial pack, I wouldn't "teach" the player the trick. You should expect the player to have beaten Lemmings 1, which means that they should already know the trick.

I've noticed that there is a buddy feature in the profile settings. I've been wondering what exactly this is supposed to do and how it works. Also, does anyone use this feature? Thanks in advance.

Help & Guides / Lemmini/SuperLemmini source files?
« on: July 11, 2015, 12:00:26 AM »
I was wondering if anyone could give me the source files(WINLEMM files) for Lemmini. I followed Gronkling's video(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RW3srkFI6qk) but the source files don't work, giving me an error that it couldn't find a file in a folder that didn't even exist. I redownloaded the file, and it was the same.

Anyways, I was just wondering if someone could provide me with the source files, so that I can setup Lemmini/SuperLemmini.

Here's a new level that I just quickly made. It's quite simple, and I would probably rate it in the first or second rating(depending on the difficulty curve of the pack).

I fixed skullduggery, so now the intended solution is completely enforced(as far as I know, at least, but I can't find any other backroutes). The fix is somewhat crude, but hopefully the level still looks aesthetically pleasing.

Here's a new level I made, not sure how quickly it'll be solved. ;)

I suggest replacing the name with "Disabler". I think it sums up the skill.

I like that name  , but it doesn't seem to be the kind for a community pack(not that I have experience with naming community packs, it's a fitting name, in my opinion).

I changed At Night to have less skills(which might make it a bit easier) and converted it to the snow style.

I attached replays for both levels(I solved A Brilliant Facade in NeoLemmix, but you might notice on the replay that I forgot to put up the release rate in on time).

Would christmas levels be allowed as entries?

Here's three levels that I made. One of them is a Christmas level.

I know this "isn't very believable", but all of them are 100% possible(I have replays for one).
They're mostly harder levels.

Okay, I attached them.

This is a great idea.

Here's some more achievement ideas:
Get 100% on 25 levels
Get 100% on 50 levels
etc.
Beat Lemmings Plus DOS Project
Beat Lemmings Plus II
Beat Lemmings Plus III
etc.(any packs released for neolemmix could be included here)
Get the maximum amount(that's known) that can be saved on EVERY SINGLE LEVEL

For some of these you would need a system similar to Lemmini's/Superlemmini's that would include all of the packs, and would have the maximum save amount.
You would also want to possibly include the original games with it, if you were to do the above.

Anyways, very great idea!

Level Design / Re: Official Tilesets vs. Custom Tilesets
« on: February 21, 2015, 08:41:32 PM »
I personally only use the official ones because custom tilesets don't have that lemmings "feel" to them. I've tried making my own custom tilesets but I can't think of good themes that fit with lemmings.

In my opinion, having too much variety can get boring(ironic, right?). Using too many tilesets in one pack can lead to an underabundance of certain level play styles, making players just rush through levels waiting for the next one of a certain type.

Also, the original tilesets have many differences in the general feel, level play style, decorational style, etc. Some tilesets that are "inspired"(too put it nicely) by the original tilesets can feel like a v2 of a tileset with recoloring.

Lemmings is a very expandable game, but sometimes expanding something too far makes it not feel like what it is.

This doesn't mean I dislike custom tilesets, though.

Those are my reasons anyways.
