L2Player / Lemmings 2 Physics Research
« on: December 17, 2021, 05:46:07 PM »
Ravenix, I did some work almost two years ago reverse engineering Lemmings 2 DOS with the DosBox debugger. The only notes I have saved are an early analysis of some of the explosion physics, but seeing this topic made me want to take another look at the game code and see if I could do anything to help.

If you are interested in looking at the code for any skill in the game, the game handles all of the skills through a call at 2107:0275. Each skill (or lemming state) is associated with a value. Walker is 0, faller is 40, etc. This value is used to find the address in a map which starts in memory at 2107:029A. The game essentially just calls to the address pointed to in the map, then proceeds from there.
I have a code dump of the entire segment 2107, which should contain the code for each skill, but it seems like the disassembly is not entirely correct. At least the walker code was disassembled incorrectly, maybe more. I might try to find a different way to dump the code, but I've found that stepping through the code with the debugger makes it a lot easier to see what's going on.

If you're interested, I can give you all the memory addresses/notes I've made so far. It isn't much, but it should be enough to reverse engineer a good portion of the skills.

The title says it all. When enabling clear physics mode, pixel position of each lemming and the blocker field of each blocker would be displayed. I think that this would be a very helpful feature, more so than the current function of clear physics mode, which IMO (and in my experience) is only useful in very rare situations.

Also, I guess you could say I'm back. ;P

Lemmings Main / Lemmings 2 Gold Medal Trick
« on: August 23, 2015, 01:23:00 AM »
I'm sure a lot of you have already discovered this trick(or maybe not. I don't know. But if you don't know it's in the spoiler.). I would like to know what you think of it. Do you think it's an acceptable way to get gold, or do you think that it's a cheat? And do you think a Lemmings 2 level designer should attempt to make it so that the trick isn't executable? How do you think would be the best way to do so?

I'm just wondering what other people think about tricks like this.

Lemmini / SuperLemmini Level Pack(s) and Levels
« on: August 06, 2015, 04:35:04 PM »
Here's a new topic for posting any levelpacks made for superlemmini or lemmini!

Here's my first try at making a superlemmini levelpack. This levelpack has five levels, the last of which(alphabetically) uses a glitch. Make sure to send me a replay of any backroutes you find. Any feedback is appreciated! Have fun!

Note that the Windows midis are required to play. If you don't have them I will upload them when I get access to a computer.

EDIT: I have done that now.

I've noticed that there is a buddy feature in the profile settings. I've been wondering what exactly this is supposed to do and how it works. Also, does anyone use this feature? Thanks in advance.

Help & Guides / Lemmini/SuperLemmini source files?
« on: July 11, 2015, 12:00:26 AM »
I was wondering if anyone could give me the source files(WINLEMM files) for Lemmini. I followed Gronkling's video(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RW3srkFI6qk) but the source files don't work, giving me an error that it couldn't find a file in a folder that didn't even exist. I redownloaded the file, and it was the same.

Anyways, I was just wondering if someone could provide me with the source files, so that I can setup Lemmini/SuperLemmini.

Levels for other engines / cLemmings
« on: December 18, 2014, 11:08:41 PM »
cLemmings is a set of levelpacks mimicking the actual game(in number of levels and the styles used).

These are the current cLemmings levelpacks:

cLemmings
The original cLemmings pack. Levels are somewhat similar in style to the original, but different at the same time.

Oh No! More cLemmings
The ONML version of cLemmings. Consisting of very non-original style levels, difficulties vary extremely.

Holiday cLemmings 1994
The Holiday Lemmings entry in cLemmings. Levels are very different in style to the original.

cLemmings Ultimate Edition
A cLemmings pack not based on any game. Difficulty is very standard throughout the whole pack.
Just released!

Download links can be found here: http://www.clemmings.altervista.org/download.html

If you have any comments/suggestions/ideas, post them here!

Thanks to Eric Langedjik for the original lemmix engine.
Thanks to namida for help with custom players.

Lemmings Main / Lemmings or Lemmings 2?
« on: October 17, 2014, 09:53:27 PM »
Which one do you prefer?

My personal choice is the original Lemmings, because I feel that the graphic sets were better made and the levels were made better.
What'should yours?

General Discussion / Good times with Lemmings for Windows
« on: July 05, 2014, 01:05:46 AM »
Just ran across this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aa4uHbM0RRk
Brings back some memories . . ..

Obviously this doesn't have all of the songs, even though there weren't that many for Lemmings on Windows (DMA didn't include the six "tunes" from ONML and BeastI, Menace, BeastII, Awesome, Doggie, and Tim10 from the original Lemmings). I like how the person/persons included a grander version of Pachelbel's Canon in D. But, Pachelbel's Canon wasn't written by Bach (read description)! :P

Levels for other engines / cLemmings
« on: June 14, 2014, 01:25:15 AM »
This topic will be the official topic for cLemmings, a new Lemmings game (or rather set of Lemmings games). Basically, I made 113 levels to replace all of the old levels, with the exception of the first seven "tutorial" levels, because those don't need to be replaced. I'm going to put the website up sometime soon (soon meaning in a week or two, but no promises). The attachment is a zip file that you just need to extract and then you can run it. I'm currently working on an ONML version, but it may take quite a while (at least a month or so, and that's if I basically make and test levels for eight hours every day) for it to be done. cLemmings (the "c" stands for "custom", I couldn't think of any other names) was made with the Lemmix level editor by Eric Langedijk and runs on the LemmixPlayer Lemmings clone, also by Eric Langedijk.

Like I said, this topic will be the official topic for cLemmings, so if you have any comments, questions, or ideas, post them here.

Thanks to Eric Langedijk for creating the LemmixPlayer clones and the Lemmix level editor, without those two programs this wouldn't have been possible.

To go to the cLemmings website, click the following link: <a href="http://www.clemmings.altervista.org/" class="bbc_link" target="_blank">www.clemmings.altervista.org</a>

For newer versions of cLemmings, look through the thread.
