Manuals for everything Neolemmix?
« on: February 25, 2017, 05:35:59 AM »
I know we have tutorials for NeoLemmix but I was think something like an in dept digital manual.
You know like you see on old video games and computer software?
like for the player it shows you (for example)
-what's what in gameplay
-configuring options
-and extra jazz (like music)
for Editor it be
-how to start
-how to use everything in the editor
-and how to test a level
for Flexi it be
-knowing the basics
-setting up a proper nxp
-and other files
and last GStool
-importing images
-working with objects and sprite strips
-custom files
and for general
-Installing and what you need

I would do this myself but it'll take more than one person to cover the bases

I was thinking about whether it might be worth setting up a NeoLemmix wiki for this purpose.

However, I'm a bit reluctant to do so until the new-formats version is released. It's likely at the very least, the level editor will be replaced with a new one when that happens, so I don't want people to waste too much time on writing up tutorials for the old one...

Wikis generally cover the gameplay of a game (levels, secrets, weapons, etc.), not the directions for use of tools and utilities pertaining to the game. I think a manual of sorts, which would perhaps be included with the Neolemmix download or on the Neolemmix website, would be better and much easier to maintain than a full wiki. Plus, searching a wiki just to find out exactly how to do something with a certain tool would be more trouble than just going to the forums and posting the question there.:P
