I should definitely be there this time, and if any future campfires are arranged on days in fortnightly alignment with this one (ie. May 14th, May 28th, June 11th, June 25th.....and so on), I should always be available on these dates. I always have every second Sunday off.

Seeing as a new pack has released whilst we haven't really playing Jackbox should I go and familiarize myself with a basic understanding of how the pack 9 games play beforehand or is it going to be a "lets learn the new pack together" type session?

If you're referring to what we did the week pack 8 released back in October 2021 where we played all 5 games one after another then it's not going to be one of those sessions.

Myself and Kingshadow are already very familiar with the pack 9 games from playing with another community while I was away from the discord. And I assume namida and mantha would have played pack 9 with bleakcreep's community streams.

We will play pack 9 at some point during the session I'm sure of it, it's more of a session where we have a system in place to let people have a say in what we play since it worked well on that session where everyone picked their favourite game.

Here are the pack 9 games and what kind of games they are:

Fibbage 4 - the sequel game for this pack, you should be familiar with this game if you've ever played a session with us. If I recall Silken you picked Fibbage 3 as your pick when we played that Best of Jackbox session.

Nonsensory - hard to explain this one, it's drawing or words but you have to word or draw your answer to match the rank out of 10 of what it is describing. Eg. Draw a toy which is 40% broken.
Then everyone else has to guess what the original number you were given which in the example would be 40% and you get points based on how right everyone was and they get points too for how accurate they were. It's one of those games where it makes sense after a few gos.

Junktopia - this one you have to give an interesting story to an item which you purchase at the start of the game then people vote for the best one.

Roomerang - this one plays out like a reality TV show and people get voted out after each task.

Quixort - this one is a bit general knowledge but in the form of falling blocks and you place them on the ground based on where they fit. Eg. They might ask you to arrange things by length or size. This one is similar to Poll Mine from pack 8 in the form of there are 2 teams in this game and voice chat between teams can be helpful.

Just a reminder that this is still planned to happen this Sunday, hope to see you all there! :lix-evil:

Jackbox returns after having no session on the forums since October 2021!

After discussion, myself and Kingshadow decided on Sunday 2nd April at 17:30 UTC to play (this will be 18:30 UK time).
Please let us know in this topic if you plan on coming to the session, or if you can't because the time is inconvenient also let us know!

We'll be hosting the game on the LF forum discord server using the voice chat rooms (Pillar room/Brick room), voice chat is not essential but recommended for some of the Jackbox games for best results.
The game is brought to you using the discord screenshare feature, we host the game and no downloads or applications are necessary on your end. You just need to go to jackbox.tv to play the game.
Link to the LF forum discord server if you have not already joined https://discord.gg/2MyfSfN

The sessions usually go on until a large amount of players have decided to leave the session, average session length has been around 5 hours, we can go on longer if there is significant demand to though.

Everyone is welcome, it's not just for people who have played before in these sessions!

Myself and Kingshadow will be hosting this session and we'll alternate between hosting throughout the session to cut down on waiting time between games.
We also have access to all 9 of the Party Packs between us.

What is Jackbox?

Jackbox is a long running series of Party games which have been annually getting released every year since 2014 and Party Pack 9 is the latest installment which was released in Oct 2022.
Games vary from drawing, putting witty responses to questions, to strange general knowledge. A lot of games are different while some are sequels to previous games which are considered legendary.

The way the games are played are through a browser on a PC/Laptop or you can also play on your phone/tablet devices at jackbox.tv . The way we play, you'll need discord open to view the game being played via screenshare but also you'll need a way to input the answers to the game via an internet browser.

While there is a limit on how many people can play at once, we haven't really had such massive turnouts that this has been a problem in the past, we can always play a game twice if the amount of players outweigh the capacity the game can take at the time.

Thanks for all the replies everyone, I'm glad some people seem to have missed the sessions. I can also see that the sessions hosted on the other discord server was an entirely different realm of Jackbox althogether.

As said on discord I'd love it if you hosted again

To prevent the thing happening again that drove me off the discord server, I've decided that both me and Kingshadow will be hosting going forward.
I feel like a lot of the time during Jackbox is spent setting up games and sometimes it is very stressful, so it would be nice if while one game is being played, the one who is not screensharing out of myself or Kingshadow could be setting up the next game.
For example:
Kingshadow is streaming Quiplash 2 which is in pack 3 and we have decided to play Survive the Internet next which is in pack 4.
I could set up Pack 4 and have Survive the Internet ready to go instantly when we finish Quiplash 2 (of course I'll still be playing Quiplash 2 so I won't be sitting out the game). This just means we only have to wait for people to join and then we're off playing Survive the Internet with minimal time waiting!
On the other hand, if we decide to play TKO which is in the same pack as Quiplash 2, Kingshadow can just switch games and carry on hosting.

The only crux to this is I don't own Party Pack 9 as of yet and Kingshadow does but that shouldn't be too much of an issue.

I'm in agreement with namida's suggestion of Saturday/Sunday evening for a session like we did back when I hosted in 2021.

We'll be back with plans for a session soon anyway, we want to come back with a bang!

Live Event Scheduling / Future of LF forum Jackbox sessions?

This is more of a feeler to see if there is still interest in doing this sort of thing in the future

Ok, so a few people noticed I took a hiatus from the LF discord server between Nov 2021-Nov 2022, I'm not going to go into why but I did it for personal reasons.

Before I left the server, I was the regular host of the Jackbox sessions which feature as prominent non Lemmings content on IchoTolot's YouTube channel.

During my hiatus, it seems like namida has taken over by streaming the game on occasions and there also seems to be a discord server for sessions also, I don't know anything about it though.

I just want to know if there was any more interest in a discord hosted session on the LF discord by either myself or Kingshadow now I am back on the discord server.

If I don't hear anything in this topic, I'll assume that there is no interest and I won't speak of it again, I just want to know what was going on with regards to Jackbox since Nov 2021.

Just a reminder that we're playing in 3 hours time.

I do have a new 4 player level for this session to test out. First new level from me in months!

Also weidybeirdy, you are very welcome to join us.

Let's have another Lix session!

The handicap feature continues to be popular and it helps balance the multiplayer :lix-smile:

Decided on Sunday 5th February at 18:00 UTC after consulting with Simon and plus we played on Sunday last time anyway.

Lix 0.10.5 released recently too :lix-laugh:

Everyone is welcome, old and new players!
Those who are new to Lix, we voice chat on Mumble. PM Simon for the Lix mumble server information.

39
Ok since there have been no replies for a while, I'm taking mobius's suggestion for Sunday on board heavily and I have a slight preference for Sunday also.

So we'll be playing next Sunday at 18:00 UTC :lix-laugh:

40
Had this weekend in mind for a while but thought I'd wait until after Christmas to post the session. I asked Simon and he said this weekend is fine for him.

Question is which day do we want more? Sat 7th Jan or Sun 8th Jan
I can do either

EDIT: Sunday 8th it is

Usual time of 1800 UTC and we want to play more with the handicap feature which continues to be fun. :lix-wink:
It's not essential but updating to the latest version of Lix will allow replay support for handicap.

Contests / Re: Level Design Contest #27

Let's Build and Blow: I'll assume that the Lix cuber is disallowed.

Since the stoner is disallowed, I'm guessing not allowed cuber either. On the other hand, I feel a stacker and a cuber are quite comparable in characteristics.

Only Swimmers: Impossible in Lix, that's okay.

Is it possible when making rules in the future that we have an equivalent Lix rule where a Lix level is impossible in said rule because it's not very fair that one rule just outright excludes Lix.

It just means that there will be less Lix entries before the contest has even begun.

Well I can't make it Sunday either, I'm more likely to make them if they were on Sundays though which was the point I was trying to make. :lix-wink:

Sadly I can't come to this yet again (mainly because it's on Saturday), I'll be able to make one eventually.

[/li][li]Solving levels together on livestream is fun. I had a great time with Flopsy, mobius, and Ramond this past Sunday. Let's do it more often?

Agreed this was fun, it was a very engaging stream :)

Don't worry mobius, you'll make it to one eventually!

Also, it's a K, not a Lambda!

Thanks everyone for coming to the session this evening and taking me up on my challenge to give the multiplayer another chance, it feels like the message got heard somehow.

Was very nice to see new players such as darkshoxx and returning players such as Dullstar and Lana!

Also it was ultra competitive (especially between myself, Simon, geoo and Icho who were heavily handicapped much of the session) and it felt like the results were very mixed all round, it felt like the handicap has done a good job at making the games more well rounded.

Had a lot of fun on Selective Rescue and Rescue Ranger Trolls as usual as well.

Will probably arrange another session early on in January (most likely weekend of 7th/8th January - free both days again), have a nice holiday season everyone!

Also I'm working on some Lix multiplayer stuff in the background and hope to have something ready for early 2023.
