Levels for v10 or older / Re: [NeoLemmix] Raylems
« on: April 08, 2024, 02:28:25 PM »
Hello! I have finally converted Raylems into new format. I guess better late than never, right? Man, I can't believe it's been like 7 years. :8:()[:
I now call it "Raylems refurbished" as I also changed some of the levels up, tried to block backroutes and overall just tweaked everything.
I also took the opportunity to remake some of my old tiles, as they weren't really up to my current standards. I made sure to not change any tile silhouettes though, to not potentially break other levels that use them. Also, even though ive since changed my username to not start with "ray", I will keep using this prefix in the context of neolemmix to not break any old or future assets I may make.

Download from here:
https://www.ryemanni.com/filestorage/RaylemsRefurbished.zip
The zip includes all the levels, remade styles, music and sound effects the pack uses!

I managed to participate for an hour in the end. It was really fun to play Lix after such a long time. I'll definitely try to join more often in the future, especially if the sessions are on Saturdays, because then I have more time. Thank you all. :lix-grin:

NeoLemmix Levels / Re: [NeoLemmix] Lemmings Halloween 2017

Thank you. I replaced the working link in the op.
It's been a long time since I used neolemmix, so I wasn't sure how easy it would be to convert old levels into the new format. Turns out it's very simple, so I'll replace the link in the op once again with your recommended fixes in mind.

Sorry about the broken link. :forehead: I don't really have plans to update this pack to the new format (at least yet), but the least I can do for now is to upload the original files here again. You can play these in v12.03.01.
(Check OP for the new link!)

I might join. I haven't played Lix in what feels like forever. :lix-smile: I might miss the first hour tho, since it overlaps with my stream, but after that if you guys are still going I'll try to drop by. :8:()[:

Loap / Re: Loap - A Lemmings 3D clone

This is looking great!

For some reason I'm getting a bit motion sick from the way the full-height type background moves though, and I don't remember this happening to me in the original game. :lix-sick: Other than that, things are looking good so far.

Do you have any plans for the camera movement? Will you try to replicate the keyboard movement from the original game, or come up with something a bit more modern/intuitive? Personally I always imagined Lemmings 3d would be great with modern fps game controls; you move with WASD, raise and lower with space and lctrl, point at things with your cursor and just click and assign skills to lemmings. Think minecraft creative mode controls. :lix-tongue:

Aah, this is looking great. Lemmings 3D is my all time favourite lemmings game so seeing this project (even tho it's still in it's early phases) is such a joy. Best of luck with it, and I will be sure to support it all the way.

Back in the day I also dreamt of making a Lemmings 3d "remake" or something similar, but that never happened due to life and other game projects. I still do wanna tackle that idea at some point tho, but it wouldn't be a Lemmings game anymore but something original instead.

You mentioned you're using a cross-platform framework for this. Which one is it, if you don't mind me asking?

Non-Lemmings Gaming / Re: Baba is You (puzzle game)
« on: March 21, 2019, 07:09:42 AM »
I've been following the developement of this game for a while, and I just now found out that the dev is finnish. :XD: I'm definitely going to pick up the full game at some point, but like ccexplore, I'm going to wait for a sale (or a physical version on switch).

Makes me wonder how easy or hard it might be to reverse engineer the binary formats of the level files and thereby potentially create your own levels to play using the demo.
The game is apparently made with Multimedia Fusion 2 (A game maker-like engine), but I don't know if it has a build-in system for saving levels or not. This could be used as a potential starting point.

General Discussion / Re: roles for discord

Instead of specialized roles, I would simply suggest different name colours from which people can choose one they like.

I've yet to play Lomax, even though I really want to. Like Simon said, I've heard people draw the comparison to Rayman, which means I'm even more interested.

My main problem is that I'd like to play the game on real hardware first, but since a physical copy of Lomax is considered a rarity it goes for way too much on ebay for example. I'll keep waiting though, maybe I'll one day find a good deal with case, manual and everything.. :D

Since Lomax is an obscure spinoff of the Lemmings series, I don't think we're ever going to see a comeback. Maybe they will release Lomax on PSN, though even the chances of that happening feel pretty slim.

Lemmings Main / Re: Playing Lemmings 2 On Modern PC

The only way is to use Dosbox (or other emulators, depends what version you want to play.)
Here's a guide by Kieran on setting up the game with dosbox:

I support the idea of a sub-board for this. :)

Lemmings Main / Re: about the Master System graphic sets...
« on: January 06, 2019, 09:01:20 AM »
Sorry for the necro, but after digging around I found the sets in question from one of my old Lix folders.
Just a note though; most of the tiles are badly upscaled which means they can be blurry, not pixel perfect and sometimes not even power of two.

GigaLem; If you're still interested in making an NL version of the SMS tiles, download the editor from:
http://www.smspower.org/GameEditors/LemmingsMappyConvertor
It includes all of the tiles in a proper pixel perfect 8x8 png format. :)

Interesting! I didn't know there were some slight differences. If I can somehow get this version working, I can at least rip the fire exit.
