All people talk about is making levels and engine fixes, can we actually talk about lemmings for once? because the last post in fan corner was october 9th while the fan engine boards are always posted on every 2 hours, and for anyone else who actually wants to talk about lemmings well hard luck because the only stuff people post here are levels and engines, trust me, i think i have loap on my pc, but my pc is full of random junk so if i install a whole chain of dependencies and something gets messed up along the way the whole thing breaks and i think thats the deal with all these engines and levels and stuff so PLEASE for the love of mike daily please actually have conversations.
How did thee arrive in this place?

1) You are free to start a conversation about anything you like (within reason/forum guidelines, obvs).

2) Custom levels is what the vast majority of LF users are interested in. For that, we need regularly-maintained engines and easy ways for people to share and discuss their levels.

3) The next versions of the engines I personally maintain will all have Online Updates, so it'll never be necessary for the end user to re-download and maintain a cumbersome bunch of folders from that point on. If you have an issue with any of the engines or the way they're distributed, by all means post a bug/sug topic so that it can be addressed properly.

4) Criticising others' posts is unlikely to generate positive dialog. But, you do you.

  • I don't think you can force it to make the whole forum talk about non-[custom levels and engines content], I think if someone wants to talk about they will just have to want to start/join whatever non-[custom levels and engines content] on their own
  • I don't know what you mean exactly by a "chain of dependencies." Isn't dependencies when you just need to install something to get another program to work? I've never encountered dependencies working in a chain-like structure if you mean that if one dependency breaks you have to deinstall and reinstall all the succeeding dependencies. Just reinstall the specific dependency that breaks? Also AFAIK NeoLemmix has no dependencies, that probably wouldn't then change for CE and SuperLemmix, and Lix has no dependencies. And I'd imagine those three encapsulate nearly all custom content.
  • I think it makes sense that naturally conversation would be more about custom levels and engines rather than not that (e.g. lemmings (fictional species) and the old games I guess) because it's regenerative and one can make an unlimited endless supply of new levels so I think that it makes sense that naturally custom content would be the cutting edge of the Lemmings community nowadays

For my part, I mainly like to play and create.

I was never really into writing extensive discussions and I also can be rather lazy writing long paragraphs.

Playing games and talking with people and creating and trying out new content is more my thing.

I also would highly argue that covering new content is also "talk about lemmings".
