Quote from: Flopsy on August 09, 2026, 11:41:07 AMOut of the confirmed people who said they were coming, unfortunately you are located the furthest south, I'm next furthest around Nottingham. I could potentially pick you up/drop you off in Nottingham if that's any help to you.

Meetup is potentially from 11:30am-6pm depending on how the day goes.

Ooh let me see if i can get a coach there :)

hrb264

Sent you a DM. I think getting the train to Nottingham could work. It's so much cheaper!

Flopsy

Just to update the thread, I'm now picking up and dropping off hrb264 before and after the meetup.

Hopefully we won't be late arriving in Leeds but we'll have to be going about 5.30pm to make her train from Nottingham.

Looking forward to it, it's going to be a great day

thanks so much for the offer. Really looking forward to it.

Just a heads up, it's going to be a record-breaking 34 degrees and very humid in Leeds on Thursday 13th.

I'm still happy to go ahead, but wanted to float the option of rescheduling for the following week if people would prefer slightly cooler weather. Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd are supposed to be sunny and 23 degrees, a bit more manageable for those who struggle with hot weather.

If nobody replies, we can assume we're still on for Thursday 13th.

Flopsy

The hot weather doesn't bother me personally. I'm prepared for a hot day tomorrow  :lem-mindblown:

Just to recap, we should be meeting around 11.30am at Leeds Train Station. It's looking likely that myself and hrb264 will be a little late, we'll catch up with you guys if you don't want to wait for us.

Looking forward to a great day

On my way to get the train to Nottingham now - reckon if we're somewhere shaded it should be okay! See you all there!

Perhaps I should attend the next one

I really would like to be part of one of these meetups :)

I should perhaps go up to Leeds. I live in Cambridgeshire, and it would take about 2-3 hours by road to Leeds

WillLem

Hi all, I'll probably be arriving at around 12:30. No need to wait at the station for me, I'll text Flopsy when I arrive and can go to wherever you are.

See you there! :)

Flopsy

Great day today everyone, thanks for a wonderful day. Also very nice to meet hrb264 for the first time this meetup :)

hrb264

Thanks to everyone for a great day and props to Flopsy for giving me a lift up to Leeds from Nottingham and back, plus loads of bottles of water! I'd love to come to another meetup especially if you all choose to organise one further south. It was great to put names to faces - great conversation and company :)

WillLem

Thanks to those who attended the meetup. It was great to see everyone again, even if the group was a bit smaller than usual.

Perhaps we could arrange another one for the Autumn, somewhere further south (someone mentioned Bristol which I think would be a great place to meet) so that it's a bit more central for everyone to travel to.

I'll post a topic for it soon (or, anyone else is of course free to create one in the meantime).

Flopsy

It was a still a great meet up despite the smaller group, it felt more personal than usual.

I'm definitely up for meet ups, I'll keep my lieu days free so I can book days off if necessary although if we stick to weekends it should never be an issue for me for the time being.

I feel like meet ups should be more frequent personally, I feel like yearly is just not regular enough. I enjoy every moment hanging out with people at the meet ups, this is honestly the best community I've been part of.

I feel like we should definitely consider other cities for definite for the next meet up. As always, I am up for picking people up for the meet ups if it's remotely feasible, it was actually the first time that I gave someone a lift to a meet up this time (who probably wouldn't have been able to go had I not offered) and it was great fun talking about stuff on the way so I'm happy to do it for future meet ups if it means the difference between someone going or not :)

Bristol is a good initial suggestion, it's about 2.5 hrs from me though so I think it might be better if it was a multiple day thing. I also think Liverpool was a good suggestion from the previous topic but if we want to go down south to be fairer to those who live down south and find it difficult to get to Leeds, that's fine with me :)

You're very welcome, thanks for coming to the meet up. Like I said above, I'm glad offering you a lift meant you could attend as opposed to not attending. I'm sorry you got home really late though due to your train being delayed :lem-mindblown:

hrb264

Ah it was ok no worries! It wasn't your fault - just trying to go halfway up the country on the hottest day of the year :D

Bristol is a good idea, it's a great place and that's where my sister lives :)
