« on: November 16, 2004, 07:34:38 PM »
A new version of CLONES is now available!  Build 59 includes the following features:

- level packaging tool
- 100% non-crippled mapeditor
- 2 new clone actions (bazooker and liquify)
- new trap (mushbomb)
- more cool particle effects
- faster internet play (UDP/TCP optimizations)
- .dat => .lvl lemmings pak extractor
- multi-language support
- over 45 multiplayer maps

You can create levels with your own graphics too!  With the level packaging tool you can create a new CLONES brain singleplayer experience!

Download the demo from http://www.tomkorp.com/clones/download.asp

I can't wait to see some cool new levels created by you guys ;) You can see all of the current levels at this page

Can you tell me the minimum requirements for this game. If I remember, the game doesn't work for me.

CLONES requires a 3D video card with at least 16 MB video ram.  I have played the game on an ECS 741GX-M motherboard ($65) which has embedded video and CLONES runs fine on it.

I have also played it with a used $20 GeForce original video card (not even GeForce2) and it ran fine.

Your computer should have at least 64MB of system ram.

If you are still having problems, please email us or post on the forum (http://www.tomkorp.com/clones/phpbb2/index.php) with the problems you are having.  I want the game to work for you! ;)

German language doesn't work for me.

Hm, DO you have a german language file? If not, I'd like to help you.

I played the game and it's very nice, but there's some things that are bad:

1. There's no PAUSE button!
2. When I press the Tilde key to show the ghost, it appears during few seconds and then, dissapear! When I try to show it again, it won't!
3. I can't change the letters for tools in the options, when I quit the options menu, all original letters assigned to them are back!

Also, which kind of selection do you use:

a) Using letters
b) Using the mouse by selecting Clones first, then tools
c) Using the mouse by selecting tools first, then assign them to Clones

1.  In singleplayer mode there is no pause button on the taskbar, but you can press the PAUSE key on your keyboard to pause the game.   In multiplayer mode there is a pause button you can click.

2. The ghost clone is very powerful and so only lasts a short time.  There is a little green bar on the right side of the screen which holds 'future juice', when that bar runs out then you cannot use the future clone until you save more clones.  Saving clones into your exit lets you use more future/ghost clone! (very useful in multiplayer)

3. That is a bug, we will fix the keyboard binding for actions and release a new patch.

It is possible to use any of the three methods you list for giving actions (a, b or c), but the method that I use is a).  Using the keybord letters is the fasted way and is the best way for playing multiplayer once you get used to it!  If you forget which key to press you can click on the HELP button to find out.

I'm glad that CLONES is working for you and i look forward to having a multiplayer match with you sometime :)

There are new singleplayer levels submitted by fans.. have you tried them out?  The levels are very well designed and has inspired me to create new ultrahard levels! :)  Have you been able to solve the ultrahard levels?

Not for now... I'm now at the other part of the brain in the game. I completed the first part.

Also, I played a match with Steaver: I lost.

The first brain layer is a gentle introduction to CLONES and consists of 3 regions.. tutorial, easy, and tests.  The second brain layer is where the real fun begins :)

Steaver is pretty good at multiplayer, and has made some clones levels as well.  I wonder if he would like to make a new package for CLONES ... ?   Here's a tip for multiplayer: try to destroy your opponents starting and ending points first, then worry about getting your clones to your exit

good luck!

Summer time!  That means more time to play CLONES :) ..  Who is up for some multiplayer matches?  I'm trying to design a few more multiplayer and singleplayer levels which include the new objects and traps.. i'll post the levels in a package on the CLONES website once it's ready.
