The Birthday Thread
« on: December 10, 2009, 01:45:19 AM »
It seems wasteful to create a new topic for each birthday, so here's the thread for all birthday greetings.

Today (December 9) is Proxima's birthday.  Happy birthday! :birthday:

For fun, I tried to come up with a level using Proxima's name but just couldn't come up with anything interesting enough fast enough. :(  Then again, I didn't check the birthday calendar until like now.  Oh well, at least I have a week's head start for doing something similar with Insane Steve.

Happy birthday!

When I think of "Proxima" I can't help but think of "proximity" so I might try and make a level where the entrance and exit are like right next to each other (but you obviously have to use a more complex route).

Okay, too busy/lazy to bother with the above, but hey, happy birthday Insane Steve! :birthday:

Actually, I do have a not-too-successful-but-presentable concept for a custom L2 level, and had I have more time, I could probably actually implement the level and make that the Insane Steve level.  It would use the Highland Tribe (the actual puzzle doesn't really care what graphics set you use) due to its depiction of drunkenness in the Lemmings and in some of the terrain graphics, to fit with the alcohol theme as inspired by some of IS's jokes about vodka etc. :P  I still think I'll try to make and upload the level anyway, but at a later time.

considering that I'm prettttttty drunk right now, any L2 level named after me pretty much HAS to be Highland.

just don't make another Brigadoom, oh wow I hate that level so much  ><img src=" title="Angry" class="smiley" />

Well, Steve's birthday may be over, but I got motivated enough to complete the level.  I'll post it on the L2 level thread.  I didn't actually name the level after Insane Steve (I actually came up with the title way back when I came up with the general concept, it was a reference to the use of "pouring" skills particularly fillers), but it's definitely alcohol-themed, courtesy of Highland (actually, I probably would not have used that style if I wasn't going for the drinking theme--that style has a great tendency to hamper and annoy me whenever I use it for my levels... :-\).

Sounds like you have a good time, Insane Steve.  I wouldn't recommend trying to solve the level inebriated though. :P  (Then again, I could see solving the level driving one to start drinking... ;P)

With quite a lot of people having their birthday around this time, I propose a L++ multiplayer Lemmings party! As a suggestion, on Saturday, 20:00 CET.

Well, and finally having my say in this thread, belated Happy Birthday to Steve, Proxima, Iain and DragonsLover!  :birthday: And not to be late again, quite a bit in advance: Happy Birthday to ClamSpammer and myself :p and anyone else I forgot

Yay, now the Internet is more open! (all those sites that want you to be at least 13)

Ha ha.  Anyways, it can be easy to get into those sites early - if you don't mind lying.  I just don't like to do that, so...

Great, now I'm having flashbacks to people using gaudy, animated backgrounds and more font styles and colors than you can shake a serif at.

And it's all Dullstar's fault!

Anyone else remember the hit counter? The guest book? The web ring? I think I need to go lay down.

I think those guest books are still in use.  But that's a subject for a different topic.  I really don't mind those hit counters, either, they have their uses.

RIP Geocities  :(

Also happy (somewhat late) birthday, Dullstar!
