NeoLemmix Main / Questions about the default GUI
« on: November 28, 2018, 04:00:05 AM »
Hello again!

There was something I've been wondering about NeoLemmix: why does it use the standard VGA style for the GUI in-game (the skill bar especially)? Why not using the better High Perf style instead, or the Amiga style to some extent? Is it because of nostalgia? Simplicity?

I wanted to bring the changes on my own, but it appears I couldn't find the red digits for the game timer, only the green ones. I assume it's something handled by the game code? Does that mean that it's not possible for me to customize it? :(

Thanks!

Closed / Extended builder foot check
« on: September 09, 2018, 04:17:41 AM »
Hey there everyone. Remember me? It's been a while.

I've just tried the NeoLemmix player with the "Extra Official Levels" set on the website. Great job about that! However, there's a few things here that bug me:

1. The animation of the particles from a bomber explosion is one frame too long, leaving coloured pixels at a weird positions at the end of the animation.
2. The builder behaviour is different when it has to build through a thin floor from below. Instead of continuing building to reach that floor, the builder stops when there's two extra platforms that should be built, which means you have to build two extra times in order to reach it. I don't know if it's an intended behaviour, but if it is, that makes the Genesis Sunsoft level 24 (Out, away from the tune) impossible to solve. Here's a screenshot to show you what I mean.

Lemmings Main / Lemmings/Pingus mod in Minecraft
« on: December 31, 2013, 06:17:25 PM »
There you go. Someone actually managed to make a Lemmings mod in Minecraft finally! However, it's based upon the Linux/Windows Lemmings clone Pingus. So far, it works pretty well, though it misses some skills and needs some extra work, but the concept is there and I'm sure pretty soon, we could have a fully nice functional Lemmings mod for Minecraft.

General Discussion / I'm looking for an old tool
« on: August 16, 2012, 03:57:23 PM »
Hey guys! How are you doing? :)

I'm looking for an old useful program "guest" has made back in the old time in 2005. It was called "testdro" and it was used to read .DRO (Dosbox Raw Opl) files and enable/disable each of the channels. The old topic mentioning it here near the end.

If someone still has that program, I'd like to get it please.

Thanks!

Lemmings Main / Nekoro
« on: May 29, 2012, 01:59:03 AM »
Hello there! It's been a lil' moment I guess I didn't come here.

It's just to mention the existence of another Lemmings clone, this time in HTML5 using JavaScript, called Nekoro.

Here, you must guide cats (Neko means "cat" in japanese) to home in the shortest time possible. There's also a level editor included and it's actually in Beta-test.

There's however a lil' downside: it's in French. I don't know if an English version will exist.

Tech & Research / How are the level codes generated?
« on: August 28, 2011, 08:14:09 AM »
Hey all! :)

I was wondering how do the level codes of Oh no! More Lemmings are generated. I remember a post where a guy found the level code for the non-existing level passed Mayhem 30 in the original Lemmings game so that you could get weird level ratings. Here, I'd like to do the same trick, but for ONML. Can you please help me?

Thanks!

Lemmings Main / Tool-Assisted Speedrun of Lemmings on SNES
« on: July 31, 2011, 03:59:58 AM »
Wow! This guy completes the "Mayhem" difficulty level in 63 minutes and 4 seconds on the SNES by using a tool-assisted program. Simply, the guy uses a tool that allows things that aren't possible to perform normally with a normal SNES joystick. The result is somewhat impressive on some levels. I just wanted to share it with you for your viewing pleasure.

Help & Guides / Lemmings 3D Stuff
« on: June 23, 2011, 05:12:06 PM »
Hello guys!

I was wondering if there's a way to rip off or extract the data files of Lemmings 3D. Gfx files seem to be raw images as we can clearly see each pixel of them through a hex editor (for example, I could have recognized a fence or the frames of mud texture...). Palette files format are very easy to figure out through a hex editor. Sound files are unsigned 8-bit raw audio files. It would be nice if actually, there's a way to include the audio data into wav files...

I only ripped the music so far, but only by using Dosbox MIDI ripper.

I'm pretty sure there's a way to "read" these files so that we could rip/extract the sprites, textures and sound effects of the game, especially when they aren't compressed. Does anybody know a program which would allow that or could find a way to actually read those files?

The only remaining thing would be to figure out what's the file format of level files, once they're uncompressed.

Help & Guides / Can't get Lemmings 2 to work on WinUAE
« on: May 17, 2011, 05:59:02 AM »
Hello all! Long time no see!

I wanna try something on Lemmings 2 over the Amiga emulator WinUAE, but I can't get it to work from three different versions of the roms.

I have inserted the three game disks into the three first disk drives, I chose the A500 model with a 1.3 Kickstart rom and clicked "Start". Here, the intro sequence begins, but I left-click to skip it, but after that... nothing. I can wait there for 2-3 minutes and nothing happens. No music, no message to change disk or whatsoever.

There's only at the very beginning I get a "Direct3D: Newer DirectX Runtime required" pop-up with the link to get it, but I'm playing using DirectDraw, and the download provides updates to 9.0c and previous versions of DirectX, where I have DX11...

Would somebody get me out of that Amiga nightmare?

Thanks!

General Discussion / Dosbox 0.74 released
« on: May 13, 2010, 12:29:38 AM »
Well, maybe a bit useless for most of you, Lemmix users, but anyway... Dosbox 0.74 has been released and Lemmings appears on the Dosbox main page (scroll down a bit) for the improvements the new version of Dosbox brings to the game. Here's the screenshot that shows the little improvement.

That's mostly all. :D

Lemmings Main / A quick question about Lemmings 2
« on: November 30, 2009, 07:58:13 PM »
In "Lemmings 2 : The Tribes", in the Highland tribe, the exit is represented by the classical "Red telephone box". When a Lemming exits the level through it, you can see it swaying a bit and fall back inside the telephone box. I was wondering, what's the signification of that if there are any?

Lemmings Main / Right-click bug
« on: October 27, 2009, 05:52:35 AM »
I just discovered something weird with the Right mouse button. As you probably already know, when you hold Right mouse button, you're forcing the selection of a Walker. But if you do it on a single Lemming that is performing a task and you Left-click, the previous highlighted Lemming (which could completely be out from the cursor) will be selected to do the task. :o

Example : you assign the Blocker skill to a Lemming and change the skill selection to Builder. Then, you highlight another Lemming, any of them, without clicking on him. After that, hold down Right mouse button and select the Blocker again, the cursor will stay as a cross. Left-click, without releasing the Right mouse button, and the previous Lemming you highlighted will start building wherever he is.

Lemmings Main / A new Lemmings remix
« on: April 02, 2009, 06:40:09 AM »
I don't know if you go on OverClocked Remix website often, but I recently saw that a new Lemmings remix has been added since 20-11-2008, a very good one!

The new remix is called "Dig this!" and you can get it HERE.

Enjoy!

Lemmings Main / Which Lemmings version has the best music?
« on: February 10, 2009, 10:08:56 PM »
I'm just wondering, there's so many versions of Lemmings and each version has their own music style (as they use different chips or synths). Which version has the best music of the classical Lemmings game (by classical, I mean, not like PSP and PS2 versions) in your humble opinion?

Help & Guides / Music problem
« on: December 29, 2008, 06:34:59 AM »
I have some kind of annoying problem with my corrected version of Lemmings. On Mayhem 2, "The Boiler Room", the music is kinda messed up. Notes are playing badly and this is very annoying. I used Fix#3 from ccexplore's Lemmings Music Fixed executables.

Does somebody here knows how to fix that little bug? It only occurs for that level. ccexplore, if you're here, please help!
