So infamously after 35 years now we all know how ridiculous the original jumps in difficulty are. Perhaps no more infamous than going from the final Tame levels in Oh No! to the first couple of Crazy ones. We know that the DMA level devs would one up each other in challenging each other, and the novice player kind of got lost in the wash, with no real intermediate gradient to speak of.

I'm sure there have been plenty of community efforts and fan-levels to try and fill that gap, but with my new Ultimate Lemmingsl project, I thought I'd take a crack at it myself. My girlfriend who have never played a Lemmings game in her life, would double up in laughter and joy at playing the fun and reasonably challenging levels, but would hit a hard frustration wall and give up on wanting to play. So this is for her.

Because Ultimate Lemmings aims to include every official and unofficial 2D lemmings level, I have a wealth to choose from. In validating the levels so they are all solvable under my new modern Swift engine, I also ran an ML pass on them to assign a difficulty score. From this I compiled a pack of 503 levels across all classic levels, including fan levels to create a smooth difficulty and teaching gradient across the levels, regardless of their origin.

This will be the default mode to play Ultimate Lemmings, so I want to get this right. Have a look at the list and let me know if you think I got it right:
