It would seem that the most logical thing to do regarding smilies, is to revert back to the Lemmings ones used in the old board, but keep these new, default YaBB ones as alternatives.
Why?
The issue is how smilies come out on posts that were made before the upgrade. Some of those smilies automatically become the default YaBB smilies because they share the same code. But other ones, like
, is not a default smilie code in YaBB, so they don't get turned into smilies.
But here's the thing, if we later do add back all the missing smilies from the old board, noticed that we would then have a mix of the non-lemmings YaBB smilies and the lemmings smilies,
even on the old posts. Is that what we really want?
Granted, it's not the end of the world to have such a mix of smilies, but I'm thinking that the old posts would look nicer if we stick to making the default smilies set a Lemmings one.
(This doesn't affect the voting since the voting is asking more along the lines of whether we should get rid of the default YaBB smilies altogether.)
