Who plays chess? Who's up for a match? Post your moves here and we can keep track of the game either on a chess engine or a board (if you have one). If you don't have one, download a cool chess engine here!

  So how about it?

Andi

I sometimes play it against my brother. But I can't remember I have ever won against him. =P

Proxima

I'm happy to challenge you, Conway!

Timballisto

Conway

Okay Ahribar, you're on!

That's impossible, so I'll assume you meant c7. If I'm wrong, you can have that move back. If not........

Qe6 - h3 check

Conway

Yeah, sorry. I meant c7

Timballisto

Guess we don't need the chess thing. X_X

I've just noticed, you'll checkmate me in 4 moves max! I guess you're the winner.

  Congratulations Ahribar!

Proxima

Thank you!  :D  And thanks for the game, I enjoyed it.

Conway

I guess I'm just out of practice!  :-(

Conway

I assume you mean with Ahribar . . .

Proxima

I'm willing, but I thought he meant with you? In any case it's your thread, so go for it!

Timballisto

Proxima

Conway

I thought Ahribar naturally as he won the last game. Then, if he's willing, somebody can play against the winner of this game, and so on, like a tournament. Sound good?

drumnbach

Conway

Sorry, but Timbalisto is already playing black.

Timballisto

I would've done the same move as he did I guess...

g8-f6

We could start multiple topics so we could hold multiple chess games at one time, or we could assign numbers to each game, for example, I would put at the top of my posts GAME 1.  When a new game starts, the players would announce it and assign themselves a number.

Proxima

That's a good idea. I guess drumnbach ought to challenge Conway?

You guys should look into some sort of online chess program.

Proxima

Never any harm in boosting one's postcount, is there?  :D

Conway, you can't move to b5, your bishop is in the way.

Oh yeah! O_o Sorry about that. I must have forgotten to save the game.

g7-g6

This has become an interesting/weird game.

Proxima

It certainly has...........

0-0

Timballisto

wait...which side?  Q or K?

Proxima

0-0 always means castles K-side, Q-side is written 0-0-0. The 0s represent the empty spaces between the king and the rook, you see.  :D

Timballisto

ah, thank  you.

hm.  Interesting.  I forgot the bugger was there for a while.
You reply very quickly.

Question-I forget how it looks when you Q side castle.  is it:

R on d and K on c?
-or-
R on c and king on b?

Anyhow-

Bf8-h6

Proxima

It's king on c1/c8 and rook on d1/d8. Incidentally, queenside castling is still legal even if b1/b8 is attacked (though the other two squares can't be).

Timballisto

uh...no...that doesn't work.  My king is on c7, not d7.  Retake move?

Proxima

'Fraid not, mate. It's the bishop on g3 you're in check from.  :D

Timballisto

Oops.  You're right...dang...I gotta start looking at ALL of the board.  X|

Bh6 - f4

Proxima

Timballisto

Now for my extremely predictable move...

Qe4 x f4

Proxima

Not as predictable as the response, I'm sorry to say.

Nd4 x c6

Timballisto

Ack!  I've been annihilated.

Rh8 - f8

Proxima

Yes, you have.

Rd1 - d7 checkmate

Timballisto

Proxima

Sorry about that!

Thanks for the game.

Timballisto

Anytime.

*whispers*  "Man...I need to practice...a lot..."
