Lix - Time Trials
« on: May 04, 2014, 07:44:06 PM »
So I have been experimenting with something I did on a single player map of mine in the past.

Time Trials:  Objective is to save just 1 Lix, but on a very tight timer

I have modified skills/timer on 5 of my maps for time trial.  I would appreciate whoever has some spare time whenever (pun intended) to give them a shot and leave your thoughts on this style of Lix play.  Would you like to see more?

The maps so far start with 1-4 Lix.
Which means usually you will be sacrificing Lix in order to save the 1 needed
Puzzles are designed to be completed with almost no time remaining.
Ones with a trickier control method I give a few seconds of possible grace period (one of these maps does)
Difficulty :  I would consider these quite tricky for the average Lemmings player.   Not too bad for experienced players.

TT1 : The interactive Rodent Simulation : Time given to solve 20 seconds
TT2 : Scared of Heights : Time given to solve 36 seconds
TT3 : All Together Now : Time given to solve 48 seconds
TT4 : Step Over, Step Out : Time given to solve 45 seconds
TT5 : I'll go on ahead.  Wait here! : Time given to solve 30 seconds

Solved them. The last one was pretty insane. I found most of them very technical and it takes a lot of pausing to execute.

I once tried to make a level that was tight too while execution doesn't need excessive pausing, so it's more about the strategy you take, but I still found execution a bit too annoying so I turned it into a different level, the Ob3lisk (title shamelessly stolen from a Cheapo level by Insane Steve, hope you're ok with it Steve). I attached the initial version of it anyway.

Yea your replays were far more hacky than needed.  Especially the last one..  wow hahahah

Replay attached for your tower scaling map.

Ok I'm uploading the solutions to my 5 maps.  I may actually make more of them then later, they are a fun way to re-use my previous levels.

As always, if you want to enjoy solving them at some time, don't look at the solutions!
They are actually solvable without any real need for hackyness.   geoo definitely thinks out of the box though.
A Great mind !

Ok, I finally see what you intended for 5, that's very well hidden. I quite like that all your levels are about finding the right solution idea, though executing them always feels a bit brute-force/hackish.

I attached another version of Rush Job with a more restricting skill set, and my intended solution (don't watch until you solved it I guess).

Here is my replay for the newer version of your map.
Pretty messy solution, surely not what you intended still, but it works.
