You know you've played too much Lemmings when...
« on: December 21, 2005, 05:08:45 PM »
I wasn't entirely sure where this was meant to go, but it has something to do with Lemmings so I figured it belonged here.

Anyway, these thing have been turning up all over the place, so why not? I'll start.
(If you're guilty of any of these things, feel free to to admit [smiley=wink.gif] )
------------
You want to dye your hair green. (Guilty)

You feel strangely attracted to cliff edges.

When you have a bad headache, you wear a sign saying 'Warning: Explosive'.

You've completed all of the games on every platform more than once...
On the same day.

Good idea Chmera! These are always fun, you get some perticularly strange results too!

-You see two people walking into the wrong direction for a certian place they need to go to, and you command the one walking in front to be a blocker.
-When you're walking through a school yard with a backpack, you start reaching into your bag and building a little bridge with your exercise books.
-Your profanity never goes past "Oh no!"
-You walk completely mindlessly without the help of others.
-You end up in hospital for attempting to bash away a tunnel through a brick wall with your bare hands.

-You see an object and think of various ways for lemmings to handle it.
-You can explode by saying 5...4...3...2...1...
-You start to think that objects fall at a constant rate.
-You think an umbrella will let you fall indefinitely.
-You stay away from anything that looks like one of the traps.
-You jump and say "yipee" when walk through a door.
-When you try to do something and it seems impossible, you think of how to use glitches to do it.

-You walk like a lemming.
-You dream about lemmings.

I'm guilty of some of these. Perticularly the first one. I had a dream about lemmings recently, I jumped of a cliff that looked like something from the hell set. ^_^

I actually walk like a lemming pretty often, and I usually don't notice. I sort of drop into this bouncing, rolling gait(look at an animation of a walking lemming if you don't know what I mean) sometimes, usually when I have a long way to walk. I actually find it a little faster and less tiring.
</offtopic>

-You see fireworks and find yourself mourning.

-You're paranoid about being followed crosshairs, in case whoever's operating them decides to make you into an exploder.

-You dream that you're a lemming.

-You hallucinate that you're a lemming.

-You are a lemming, no matter what the men in white coats say.

You, all! ;D

- You mine in your house's backyard until you reach the other side of the earth (it would be veeeeeeeery long).
- You jump into a cliff by thinking that your umbrella will save you!
- If you see a trapdoor, you say: "Let's go!" and you jump into it!
- You called other Lemmings fan to be at a certain place and you play "Natural sized Lemmings" using proper equipments! (Note that if this would exist for real, I would become really impressed, just imagine! :D )
- You attempt to climb flat walls using your hands and your feet and because you can't you fall back all the time!
I like dragons! They're the center of my life! I'll never forget them...

- you walk into a closed door thinking that you can pass thru the miniscule space between the floor and the door's bottom
- you expect everyone in the room to explode with you when you failed at something
- you think you can survive a free-fall from 5 times your own height
- you think you can walk through another person as if he wasn't there, unless that person stretch out their arms sideways
- you think everyone is a clone of yourself

-- You're worried that the icicle hanging from your house will kill you when you walk under it.
-- You stand with your arms outstretched and your foot tapping, expecting everybody to turn around when they reach you.
-- You actually do turn around when somebody else stands like that.
-- You yell out the word, "Climber" before you climb a set of stairs.
-- You've memorized each level title in each of the Lemmings games.
-- You start looking for no-builder solutions to Taxing 15 (See the challenge thread).

  • you think 80 suicide bombers is the solution to something (Holiday Lemmings '94 Hail 6)
  • you think floating down cliffs holding an umbrella is half of what an athlete does
  • you think that if a squishing trap squishes on 49 persons tightly bunched together, 48 will survive
  • you try to get someone to start moving again by removing the ground he is standing on
  • the one time you encountered the Loch Ness monster, you bashed and dug through its neck
  • you think Mary Poppins lives in hell
  • you think the bomb squad's purpose is to plant bombs
  • you once went to a party where all you did was lots of digging and making zigzagging stairways (Havoc 11)

There was a time when I was playing Xbox Morrowind all the time. I'd played it one day for 12 hours straight and went to bed. I had to be up at 5am the next morning for work, but couldn't sleep because I kept seeing loads of these pterodactyl-like things flying around whenever I shut my eyes. Listening to the 'Late Junction' show on BBC Radio 3 didn't help either! I went to work the next day with no sleep, it was horrible.

I usually start to actually think I'm seeing stuff around 2 am. That's also roughly when I start to hear lemmings music. It might be freaky, but it's still pretty cool to listen to music just by sitting somewhere...

I think I've played too much lemmings. ;)

I actually noticed sometimes when going up stairs that aren't so tall I first put the tip of my foot on the next stair and then do the "jumping" movement like a lemming does :)

A few more things when you actually play too much lemmings:

-If you think you can dig away the edges of steel with your bare hands.
-If you think you can walk safely at the bottom of water or lava,as long as you don't hit the "trigger area".
-If you think you can fall down safely of a cliff by hitting a few edges every few meters.
-If you think you may bomb a policeman regulating the traffic (making a blocker-like appearance).
-When you see no open door somewhere and think there's a hidden exit somewhere, and start bashing and digging around to find it.

You look at an everyday object and imagine how 2-dimensional lemmings would navigate it.
You're convinced that you can't swim, and if you enter any amount of water you'll drown within seconds.
If in real life you're a bricklayer, you build diagonal steps and wonder why they don't stay up.
You find yourself applying Lemming-physics to everyday situations.
Whenever you're about to begin something, you say 'Let's go!'
Whenever you've just finished something, you say 'Yippie!'
You think that all the films and songs referenced in the level titles are actually themselves referencing the level titles.

That's a good one :)

You know when you've played too much Lemmings when the panel of experts whom you hired to calculate the 'your productivity output'-'amount of time you've spent playing Lemmings' continuum notify you that the balance is skewed heavily toward the latter variable.

When you remember you left something at home, you dig a little pit and build out of it to turn yourself round.

When you have to walk under a ladder or anything else that could be a new type of deadly trap, you ask a friend to go first so that you can get through safely.

Or:
When you are planning to write a fantasy series and intend to absolutely lace it with references to Lemmings level titles.

(That last one's me, as you might gather.)

When you make your own lemmings shirt (guilty...it was an awesome shirt though and it went over really well at school).

When you can't reach something and you feel like building up to it.

When you compare suicide bombers to lemmings.

When you see a timer and think about lemmings.

When you draw lemmings all over your stuff for school (guilty).

When you remember lining up to go places in elementary school and comparing the lines to lines of lemmings.

I guess I'm guilty of that one, since I came up with the quip earlier on this thread about suicide bombers being useful for one of the Holiday Lemmings '94 levels (the level is solved by nuking).

I've done that a couple of times for a few minutes with this feeling in the back of my head that somethings not right. Then i realize that I can't build a bridge or use an umbrella the way a lemming does.

"When you draw lemmings all over your stuff for school (guilty)".-also guilty
-When you try to do something and it seems impossible, you think of how to use glitches to do it.

Anyway, you know you've played too much lemmings when:

-You feel sorry for divers because you think they'll hit the trigger location and drown.
-You wake up from sleepwalking to find someone telling you to stop mining tunnels in their yard.
-You Suddenly start seeing lemmings instead of people everywhere.
-You see blockers instead of stop signs.
-You think you can reincarnate* in a lemmings level by dying
-You listen to lemmings music in school.(guilty)
-You wish you had A CD with lemmings music on it.(guilty)

*earlier post by Andi

When the lemmings die they just reincarnate to another level, soon you'll get used to them dy...reincarnating.

What you say !!

Ahem. On a Mario forum I frequent, some of the global mods and admins like to give disparaging custom titles (basically, a text snippit that appears above your name whenever you post) to the members because they think it's funny (and the members can't remove them). Which it isn't. I am a sub-forum moderator there and can change my own custom title. Because I didn't like what they were doing with the titles, I changed mine to "none title" -- a level from I think the Megadrive Lemmings game.

The laws of the videogame universe, as stated in the mid '90s animation 'Reebot', are that when a videogame sprite dies in a videogame, he is stuck in that cartridge forever.

I might be wrong though, it could've been that the user has to complete the entire game before sprites are taken away.

Again I might be wrong, it could've been simply that the chunk of memory that the game occupied is removed from the computer forever. My house might've been built on that chunk of memory :(.

Either way, I'm dead.
