Got any levels you want to share? are not developing a pack but wanted to make some level or practice your skills at level making?
Well we have a topic for you!

In this topic you can share 1 or a small amount of levels you made as a testing ground or if you felt like just making one.

How do I share my level?
Attach the level to your post or give a link, then give us details about the level.

example

Graphic Set:
Other Details and Trivia:
and image if possible

Can I donate the level to a collaborative pack?
Yes, I'll give two known examples, all you need to do is follow their requirements

Lemmings Mania
NeoLemmix community pack

If you're looking for ghost levels, go here. You will need V1.43 for them to run.
Ghost Levels

If there are any other pack you wish for me to put on this list, I will put on this list

Can I give feedback for this level or these levels?
Yes you can, send replays, talk about backroutes or ask how they can fix the level (I stress the last one btw)

All that's left to do is just share, share what you can. enjoy :)

grams88

Hi Gigalem

That sounds like an interesting idea, I like the whole collaborative pack idea.

Flopsy

That's a great idea GigaLem, might be a good way to get levels tested before perhaps donating them to the community pack. I know I might have a few ideas to drop in here at some point :)

Also to avoid this topic going missing, is this topic eligible for a sticky does anyone think?

nin10doadict

I do have a couple of stray levels sitting around, including two non-troll versions of levels from my Troll rank. That said, I don't think I'm going to upload those just yet; I'll wait until after Nessy does his playthrough of said rank.

Ryemanni

Good idea. I'll definitely be sharing some levels if I wont make a small pack with only 10 levels or so.

By all means go for it, that this topic can always be easy to find

Here's a level I quickly cooked up having been inspired to mix the Egyptian and Space L2 tilesets, by the beginning of this piece of music.

The level itself: as an attachment below (put it in the "levels" directory in the NeoLemmix folder)

Music for this level (put it in the "music" directory in the NeoLemmix folder): link

I'd hate to bother you but you do know you could've shown this off in the Single level sharing thread.
I made that for people who just want to show off single level.

I solved "Desert Dream" by SQron. I have attached my replay of it below :)

Very nice level! I'm not sure if my solution is a backroute or not though.

GigaLem

While not intended it doesn't break the level, I think that'll make a good talisman for the pack

Hope this is the right thread to post or upload maps, one off maps.

I've made a hard map using the neolemmix editor and I think it turned out okay. See what you guys think. :) In this level there is a lot of thinghs to explore, don't worry no hidden exits at all in this one. The bubble tileset seems to be a very hard one to use as you have got all the different pipe sizes and stuff like that.

(Update or edit 1) I've found a major backroute which I have changed to stop the backroute hopefully. Made a few changes as well as tidying the level up a little bit.

Thanks to everyone who has given the map a try.

grams88

Hi guys, I noticed Gigalem has a picture of the map he's made, how do you post the picture of the map?

you need to host the picture image on a image hosting site like www.imgur.com and link it using the [ img ][ /img ] tags (no spaces) ;)

to save level images, press "I" when on the level and you can save a picture of it.

grams88

Thanks Flopsy, I'll look into that one, I didn't know that about pressing I when you are on the level to save an image of it.

Here's another map I'm sure you guys will like.

I had the liberty to convert the 2 levels to the new format. ;)

I attached my solutions + the updated levelfiles to this post.

I noticed some viual errors like pipes not aligned properly, or an overlapping one. "Pipe Pits" was very fiddly, but otherwise good levels. :)

grams88

#23
Thanks IchoTolot for converting to the new format and having a shot at the levels yourself. Oh yes some of the pipes were placed over other pipes, I tried to hide it as best as possble. I quite like the bubble tileset, the bubble tileset might actually be my favorite out of the non custom lemmings tilesets.

Looking forward to checking your replays IchoTolot. :)

grams88

Sorry for asking a noobish question but how do you go about updating to the new format, I think I might have the older version as IchoTolot was saying.

Many thanks

Don't worry I have it sussed now. :)

Don't worry I have it sussed now. :)

Sorry, I'm only seeing this now. Even you seem to have managed it now here is the method again:

I simply loaded your old format levels with the new format editor and saved them under the new format --- that's it. ;)

grams88

No worries IchoTolot I think I have it now, the new format looks really nice and the layout seems a lot easier as well. Got to give it a try guys. :)

grams88

Hi guys

Here's a level I have made trying something different, it's solvable, this one might trick people up.

Nessy

@grams88 here is a replay of "Stairway To Death" :)

Haven't solved the other levels on this thread yet.

Yep it's the same as in the old format. You click that R (or the "L" key) and you will be asked to open up the desired replay :)

grams88

Thanks Nessy, you done that level quite well and even done it in such a way as to leave some skills left. :)

Those replays by IchoTolot are quite cool ones, It was interesting watching them, one level I never expected a certain solution. Ah you done the two levels a lot different to my solutions and those solutions you done were quite cool.

nin10doadict

Here's a level I came up with that's too difficult for Oh No More Casualemmings!

Terror temple
Difficulty: 7/10 (Very hard)

I'm wondering if I should keep the hard levels I come up with out of the pack, or just put them in an extra rank at the end.

Nessy

@nin10doadict I solved your level. It was pretty great :)

Regarding your question...

Quote from: nin10doadict
I'm wondering if I should keep the hard levels I come up with out of the pack, or just put them in an extra rank at the end.

I did find this level tricky especially figuring out that basher and stacker trick (if it is intended). If your ultimate goal in "Oh No More Casualemmings!" is to make an easier pack then I still think, personally, that this level can be one of the last levels in the main (non-bonus) rank and it should be okay. I feel like putting it in a bonus rank would yield the same results as putting it in the main pack because some people might not believe that they themselves solved a pack completely unless they do "everything" including the bonus rank. Of course you can outright state and warn players about the difficulty of the bonus content and state that it isn't part of the "main pack" so they did indeed complete the pack if they solved everything else. That's my take on it.

Nessy

@GigaLem I solved "Bad Pick-up Skill".

Unfortunately I think I backrouted it :'( :'(

nin10doadict

Yes, Nessy's solution to "Terror temple" was exactly as intended. I personally used one of the cloners in a slightly different spot, but it just occurred to me that it doesn't matter.
I think I might want to stick with keeping the harder levels like this one out of the pack. I'm aiming for something that is more beginner-friendly: a pack that anybody who has finished the original Lemmings should be able to solve fully. This was my intention with Squared and Casualemmings, but I ended up making too many hard levels for that to come to fruition.

Crane

#37
You know how you just have those moments of inspiration? I made this level, from concept to completion, in just 2 hours.  Now to find out if it works in practice.  Anyone up for testing something difficult?!

EDIT: Backrouted! See version 2 below.

Nessy

Solved Crane's level! :)

Crane

#39
Version 2!

EDIT: Backrouted as well!

Nessy

Is this solution more intended?

Crane

Nope! Easy enough to fix though - version 3.  Thanks for your testing.

Nessy

Okay this time I think I got it :)

Crane

#44
Got a new one for you guys... well, actually an old competition level that's been redesigned from the ground up.  Behold, "Mind the gap!" (guess what the competition category was).

EXTRA: For a bronze-level Talisman (not too hard to work out), can you solve it using only 4 Blockers?

EDIT: Backrouted.  See next page for new version.

Crane

#45
Backrouted that one myself.  Here's the revised version - it removes the talisman challenge though.  I also tried to make a couple of elements more fair to execute.

ADDENDUM: There is still a sort-of backroute that saves a few skills, which might be easier to find than the intended solution, but is hard to execute since it relies on the slightly luck-based spacing of the lemmings.  This isn't practical to patch though, but all the solution's elements are there.  Enjoy nonetheless!

NOTE: The latest version can be found a few posts down: gap6.nxlv

IchoTolot

I solved the level. I still see elements of the original version coming through as well.

Crane

Hmmm, backroute, but good work.  I wanted to keep the initial part of the old version - that is, working out how to get the lemmings out of their starting area - but remove the fluff I added to the end of it that just served to put all the skills at 5 of everything (except Builders).

Crane

#48
Let's see how this one lasts.  I've tried to "reduce entropy" as well, going by another topic, while keeping the level looking aesthetically pleasing.  I'm also trying to avoid one-way arrows if I can.

UPDATED - SEE NEW VERSION BELOW (gap6)

IchoTolot

Maybe this is more likely to be intended. :)

Crane

#50
Okay, that Blocker trick was ingenious, so I've incorporated that into the solution.  As for reducing entropy - I've reduced it in some areas but increased it in others, it seems.  Still, here is the new version.  I'm not sure if the leftover skills will just cause confusion now.

Maybe in my pack I'll have "Save 14", while "Save 15" is a gold-level talisman. Nah, scrap that, because your Blocker trick gives the level title "Mind the gap!" a lot more meaning, and working it out will help the solution fall together.

UPDATED - SEE NEW VERSION BELOW (gap6)

IchoTolot

I feel this gets a bit closer. ;)

Crane

#52
Squeeze through that!

UPDATED - SEE NEW VERSION BELOW (gap6)

IchoTolot

I've found 2 possible solutions. One is quite timing dependent though.

Crane

We've nearly got it - this one is the same as version 5, but removes the Floaters.  Now first-time viewers will wonder how on earth to get to the exit without Builders orFloaters!

IchoTolot

This should be it.  :)

Crane

So Nessy sent me a replay of a failed attempt, but with some very slight adjustments, I was able to backroute the level pretty cleanly... no real timing tricks or abuse of terrain.  The only way to patch it is to unfortunately block IchoTolot's solution, which was otherwise an acceptable variant.

In other words, here's version 7, thanks to Nessy!

Nessy

"Mind The Gap!" is a great and tough level :)

Despite the backroute fixes the solution to the level was still very well-hidden and it took me a few days to see it. Well done!

Crane

And that unfortunately was another backroute - I was impressed with some of your solution though, and it can potentially be part of an acceptable variant.  Here's version 8!

Nessy

Is this new solution more intended? :)

Crane

#60
There we go! That's close enough. Well done.

CHALLENGE: Complete it using just 4 Blockers. (Gold or silver talisman... not sure yet!)

Crane

Hopefully I'm not annoying everyone with my random levels, but it proves very useful as far as feedback is concerned.  Here is another level, that introduces the trick from Incompressible in a way, but might be too hard as a means of actually telling players about the trick.  Still, let's see!

GigaLem

If you want to show off your Ghost Levels, I'll link the topic in the first post of the topic!

I just Finnished* a Christmas level... without actually using the Christmas tileset ;) . Only Santa Lemmings, of course, which sadly kept me from using the Shadow background. Though there are a lot of nice alternatives, they might be a little too dark to see well.

The idea for this level was, believe it or not, inspired by my current double sheets :D . Looked at it consciously a couple of times before going to sleep and thought: "Hey, that looks quite like a Shadow level, mixed with Polar... these two L2 tilesets might actually go together well!"

With a little support from Raymanni's Snow tileset, of course ;) . ONML Snow just doesn't fit the colours (that's also the actual reason why the Christmas tileset isn't here).

Valkea joulu

If you're wondering what that level title refers to, look in the Music thread :P .

Here is my solution. Seems close to intended for me. :)

This level can be quite a hard nut as there are plenty of almost functional ways. I like it though! ;)

Strato Incendus

Wow, that was fast, thanks, IchoTolot! ;) That's a pretty neat alternative solution. It skips some of the main tricks of the intended solution attached in my preceding post, but it still uses all the skills and requires some moves which are not too obvious.

"Pretty" landscape levels tend to be a little more open-ended anyway; I'm just glad whenever I manage to make a level look decent and still somewhat challenging gameplay-wise.

Doggone it Strato! Stop making my future level look like crap! (Totally kidding, I'm just super envious of how nice that level looks.)

Crane

That's an incredibly pretty level - nice one.

Ryemanni

I'm not usually keen on backgrounds in lemmings levels, but here it only adds to the atmosphere. Really pretty! :lix-blush:

Strato Incendus

Thanks a lot, guys! :) As I said, I actually didn't mean to use a different background than the standard dark blue from L2 shadow. But that one doesn't seem to be part of the background object list; it counts as "no background", with this shade of blue merely being the standard colour scheme for L2 shadow.

But since I had to pick one, once I decided for this one, I just ran with it - notice the three trees in the background standing on the snowy hill - true physics mode reveals they're actually floating in the air! :D

@Colorful Arty: Thanks - now I finally know how to spell that word that you keep using in your LPs! :D To me, it always sounded like "dog on it"...

And btw, the main reason I can make these levels look pretty is because the tiles in and of themselves already look decent. ;) My entirely custom graphic sets look a lot more "rough" in comparison!

@Raymanni: Atmosphere was precisely what I was going for. ;) Less flashy red and green lights, like on the actual Christmas tileset, and more "Silent Night"...

Might be an inspiration to people who create whole packs for the Holiday season, perhaps? We have quite a few graphic sets containing snow by now, so not all levels need to feature the same standard Christmas tileset in order to go with the theme...

In the bleak midwinter

I wanted to go with another Finnish title at first, but I didn't want to overdo the Raskasta Jolua references - otherwise, both of these levels would end up in the same rank, the Heavy rank. ^^

That's right, folks, these levels - being song titles as usual - are eventually going to be part of the successor to Lemmings World Tour! :D

Here is my level called Blue Thermite that was kinda an exclusive for Flopsy's custom level stream some time ago (~April 2018, I think?).
I'm posting it here for the sake of LOTY 2018 as well as - of course - for your delectation! ;)

(Music download)

SQron188

Also for the sake of LOTY 2018 (but for better publicity and gameplay-enjoyment-related things, too) I shall link The Wall tileset topic.
There were 2 levels included there. (~October 2018)

Here they are.

and they look like this:

Crane

Designed a new level based on the Mega Drive level "A group of entrances", although built from the ground up.

If you're wondering what's different about it... well... it's named "SUNSOFT Swindle".  I think I've patched the most obvious backroutes, so now I present the level to the community to tear apart!

Crane

So I found a backroute of my own in "SUNSOFT Swindle" that simply revolves around building a large bridge in the starting area - I've tried to block it using aesthetically pleasing scenery without being too obvious, but also adding one or two extra swindles here and there!

Crane

Version 3.  All my fancy scenery introduced a new backroute, so I've gone for something a little simpler for "SUNSOFT Swindle".  Hmmm... I'm backrouting my own level a lot - is this a bad sign?!

Nessy

Here is my solution to "SUNSOFT Swindle" V3 :)

Crane

Hah, nice one! Not intended, but very clever - I almost wish I could keep it!  Here's version 4.  No more bypassing the one-way arrows!

Nessy

Crane

Version 5 - I'm worried that I'm starting to give too many clues as to the solution, since that metal plate that now exists in the rightmost pillar is to prevent a wall trick.

Nessy

#81
I think your fixes Crane are pretty good now as I'm currently stumped on "SUNSOFT Swindle"!

In the meantime I'm going to share another random level :D This one is from my upcoming pack "Lemmings Destination". I'm curious to see what others think of it... and most importantly if this level is good enough to be one of the first levels in the third rank out of five.

Format: V12+

Level Name: Little Lemming Hideout

Difficulty: Medium

Graphic Set: Orig Pillar

Preview:

Fun Fact: The idea for this level came after backrouting one of my final rank levels.

Level Version: 2

Crane

How's this?  Difficulty feels on par with, maybe, Wicked from Oh No! More Lemmings.  For a small level, the scenery is very nice.

Spoiler
Pretty straightforward and definitely a good introduction level if the lesson is to plan ahead and evaluate what skills you have (e.g. I thought about building into the ramp to turn around, but then I realised I didn't have enough Builders for everything else, but you have a Basher to spare... and then I realised I needed 2 lemmings down below - simple enough to adjust!)

P.S. Now I look forward to seeing the harder version!

Nessy

Thanks for playing Crane (and mobius on Discord) and thanks for the feedback :)

Unfortunately both of you had the same exact solution and they are backroutes. Sorry but the climber must be used!

I updated the original post with a fix ;)

Crane

This one any better? The puzzle is more on par with Havoc now.
Spoiler

May I recommend moving one of the "lampshades" on the right down (and the left too if you want symmetry) so there's an overhead obstruction that you can build into? In the older version, being able to build into the ramp to turn around was a nice red herring if you don't count your Builders.

P.S. And I just want to confirm that "SUNSOFT Swindle" is definitely possible, but the solution is rather devious.

Nessy

That's intended. Well done :)

Spoiler

The floater is a red herring... and that suggestion about the "lampshade" is pretty damn good! I'll play around with it :D Thank you very much!

Swerdis

Hello,

when I signed here some weeks ago, I said that I wanted to give that Level-Making thing a try. I'm just not ready to create complete packs. But these three levels I attached below are my very first steps in unknown terrain. So please feel free to comment.

IchoTolot

Solved them and I think that they are quite nice puzzles. :)

Good first levels indeed!

I think the only slightly negative thing I can say is that "Marble Breaks and Iron Bends" looks a bit barren, but otherwise good job. :P

I've attached my solutions.

Load the level in and while inside the level (as you would play it) press "L" to choose and load in a replay file. :)

Swerdis

Interesting. The Dirt- and the Pillar-Level are more or less the solutions I had in mind (though not 100%), but the Marble Level is not at all the intended way and should not be quite that easy. I'll have to rework this one :-) Thanks for playing!

I would maybe make the bear trap a bit more visible and I don't know if it's intended that the tripper for the 10t weigth is inside the terrain. Otherwise it looks really nice. :)

I've attached my solution replay.

Thanks for testing the level! Your solution is not the one I intended indeed (see attachment) but I like it! The weight trap not working was also not intentional. I'll fix that and make the other trap more visible too. :)

You're way too good at this game!

Now it's my turn again to try and change the level so that the "easier" backroutes aren't possible anymore. It's great fun this level designing.

Great work by all of those involved with making NeoLemmix and the editor.

Edit: I changed the amount of platformers from 4 to 2 and the amount of builders from 2 to 3. (And also lifted the exit a bit.) I hope this eliminates backroutes but I'm sure IchoTolot will think of one again.;)

Spoiler
Yeah, my initial thought was to let the lower Lemmings climb up the wooden plank right of the water ditch. But the problem was that it's only five climbers for six Lemmings (including the digger). So I had to find a different approach.

IchoTolot

This seems a bit more intended. :)

Although I would still remove the timer. ;)

It is, although I intended capturing only one climber who then saves his four mates below by digging. But I like your solution just as much.

I guess you're right about the timer. I'll remove it. Thanks for testing guys!

On Discord, we were discussing The Longest Minute. At one point, GigaLem stated "At least there'll never be The Longest Second, because that's impossible."

So just to prove this wrong, I created a level with a 1 second time limit that's possible but not completely trivial. Don't get me wrong - it's extremely easy for an experienced player. And it's not meant to be treated as a serious level, just a "yes, this can be done" demonstration.

So here's a modernisation of "Deep Freeze", an incredibly old level of mine from the early 2000s (and it seems to have inspired a couple of levels as well... I'm looking at you, "Deep Frozen Misery").

There are some ice effects on the metal plates, the save requirement has been increased from 60/80 to 75/80, the time limit was removed (it was 5 minutes, more than enough time) and the level now has some talismans.  Very simple level, but I hope you re-enjoy it.

P.S. The original version can be found here (eighth level).

(Also attached the preferred music track for the level)

Glad you liked Deep Freeze.  Old levels still have some charm!

And as I've posted in the Discord channel, there is actually a 100% solution, but anything above 78/80 I consider worthy of a "Holy hell!" response!

Crane

Inspired a bit while trying to solve the Green Hill level in Contest 18, I've got a very devious level for everyone to break and attempt to solve.

Minim

Solved it first time! Likely to be a backroute though.

Version 4 of "Denial" to fix a backroute that IchoTolot found.

Also included "Medivac" version 3 for people to break (a twin level of "Dropship 12"... the bonus level showcased in Nessy's stream... this is the easier of the two, I'd say).

Crane

Version 4 of Medivac.  I feel safe removing the hole in the floor again, but more importantly, it's actually called "Medivac" now and not "Dropship 12"!!

Here's "Last Lemming Standing", a level that uses pre-placed neutral lemmings.  This I plan to make my "Chaos 30" level... it's not particularly hard, but intends to be an epic finale.  Also, the level has a talisman.  Enjoy.  (The other file is the level's tune)

Remember, this level uses neutral lemmings and hence requires NeoLemmix 12.7 RC or later.

Crane

Updated to version 3 (find music file in the above post).

  • Added some extra water and graphics to make it pretty!
  • Fixed a water pit that extended beyond the steel plate that contains it
  • The talisman's time limit has been changed from 10 minutes to 9 minutes

Posted earlier in Discord, but this is meant to be an easier level that introduces the Shimmier and lemmings with pre-assigned permanent skills.  I do wonder if it's a bit hard for a complete novice though or if they can be expected to work it out if they simply try things and let them play out.

Dullstar

I wonder how many backroutes there are in this one I haven't found yet?

Hello,

here are some early levels from a possible future level pack by me (my first one). Not too complicated I guess as they are quite small and I concentrated myself on the traditional skills mainly. Feel free to comment, escpecially considering backroutes. Pet Sematary was already played by NieSch.

Greetings, Swerdis

Backroute fixes to "SUNSOFT Swindle" and "Denial" - thanks to WillLem for finding them.

(Also the music track for Denial - also, both levels have been converted to the latest version of NeoLemmix)

WillLem

Hi Crane/The Curious Kit!

Solutions to the updated levels - I hope these are closer to what's intended! For what it's worth, these have been great fun levels to play through - not too difficult, but providing more than enough of a challenge to keep them engaging.

Crane

Dang, both backroutes.  I guess I'm glad they weren't nominated now.  Pity.  Still, nice way of managing the Climber on SUNSOFT Swindle.  I also found my own backroute on that level, so I'm going to have to think about those.  Damn!

Don't feel bad, backroutes are a good thing. My levels get backrouted* all the time! I think that levels with multiple possible solutions are generally more enjoyable to play than levels which enforce a very specific solution; all players think differently and approach puzzles differently, so the more possibilities there are, the more accessible the level. Of course, there is a definite satisfaction from finding the intended solution, but depending on the difficulty and the design of the level, that may or may not be possible for some players.

That said, I do generally try to fix backroutes that completely bypass the main part of the puzzle, and then after that I'm happy for the level's solution to be up for grabs. In fact, the pack I'm working on at the moment aims to provide multiple solution possibilities for a lot of the levels.

These two levels presented a decent challenge; I may have found alternative solutions to those intended, but they still required a lot of consideration. I'll put your SUNSOFT remix up for nomination actually (if it's eligible), I think it's a good level just as it is!

*just to be clear, in this context I'm using the term "backroute" to refer to any solution that deviates from the intended one in a significant enough way for it to be clearly noticeable.

Crane

#137
Thank you for your kind words of encouragement.  I'm taking a bit longer to patch the backroute you found, since it does bypass the main solution (and the 'swindle').  In the meantime, here is V6 of Denial.  I was hoping to not have to put a steel wall there.  It might be patchable via other means while keeping that red herring open.  I'll think about it.

UPDATE: Well, the steel wall is still there, but I've removed a sort-of backroute that allows you to solve the level in almost the intended way, but without the use of the trick required.

Proxima

Crane

*sighs* V8!  It's starting to feel like all the red herrings are vanishing one-by-one.

Crane

And V9.  Trying to reintroduce that red herring!

Crane

For those who are curious or want to try it out, here is V4 of "Last Lemming Standing", the level that inspired Rule 3 of Contest #19!

Crane

#142
Well, after a pretty impressive 100% solution that was found BEFORE the intended solution... here's V10 that hopefully patches that little stunt!

UPDATE: Updated to V11, since a bomber variation of that trick still worked.

Crane

Version 12 of Denial and version 9 of SUNSOFT Swindle.  Hopefully all is fixed!

WillLem

A Hunt The Nessy speedrun remix:

Time: Infinite (my solve record is 1:41.18)
Lemmings: 1
Save Requirement: 1
Skills Used: (1 Swimmer, 1 Climber - pre-assigned from hatch), 2 Bashers, 2 Fencers.

Also modified the terrain slightly in a few places so the swimmer could climb out.

See if you can beat this time/skill usage!

WillLem

And, a teaser from my upcoming remix pack Lemmings Recurring.

This is a concept remix pack featuring 36 of the original levels with the release rate set to 99, the amount of Lemmings set to 99, the save requirement also set to 99, and always 9 of each skill per level. In some cases, the terrain has also been slightly adapted to make the puzzle either solvable, or more difficult!

This is One Way Digging To Freedom. Give it a try and see if you can figure out the trick!

Proxima

Yes, a couple of useful tricks to know here.

Hi! Currently I try to make a new level for Neolemmix , but it will take some time until it will be ready. So for now as a "stop-gap" , I've decided to modify my old level for Lemmix ( which was a glitch level ) , to a non-glitch level that can also work in Neolemmix . The level was called "Unreachable Heights" and it was non-bulder level that used a glitch , but also it used some non-glitch tricks too. So I made a modified version that uses these non-glitch tricks I mentioned . In order to do it, I added builders to the original level, removed the two climbers , reduced the amount of other skills a little, and upped the save requirement by 1 (and also , the level  has no time limit now).

The new level is called "Reachable Heights". I have also attached the replay of the solution of  the level.

Link for the music track: ( https://modarchive.org/index.php?request=view_by_moduleid&query=85264 ) (It's the same track I have used for the previous level I have posted )

Thanks Armani for playing my levels.

You not just backrouted these two levels, you even did it the same way on both :-) These are major backroutes of course, so I eliminated them - which was not difficult. I just removed the blockers in both levels for the price that one of them isn't a two-of-everything level anymore. For the builderless level: Congratulations! There are obivously tons of different solutions here, but I don't consider them backroutes in this case. I could make this level much more difficult by reducing the skills to those really needed - but I think I'll leave it this way. It's more fun. And believe me: I LOVE builderless levels, the builder is the skill I like least of all.

I also found a way to solve your level. Nice one, though I had some skills left. I attached the solution as well as the new versions of my two levels.

Hello!

To revive this thread a little bit, here are two levels of my upcoming, first level pack which will involve 80 levels. About 60 are done so far, but I didn't announce it yet because I'm still looking for a title. I hope for feedback, so I can eliminate all backroutes :-)

I think you're meant to post replays with these levels. Fortunately, I had a go at both of them and solved them sparing quite a few skills. I like the wooden plank inside the snow level. Good graphic set combination here! The other level looks daunting with all these flamethrowers, but once I got around them I was able to build up and make a safe bridge.

OK. My turn to contribute here.

These three levels are recreations of Original Lemmings that missed out on Lemmings Redux but are redesigned with the power of NeoLemmix's capabilities. The "Running Jump" level has added teleporters, whilst the other two's level heights are raised. I also added a talisman for Steel Works. Good luck! 8-)

My solutions are attached. Even if these were simply the original Lemmings reworked and not much more difficult, these were enjoyable. The talisman for Steel Works was an especially very difficult one to work out. In many attempts, I was always a builder or two over the requirement, but I finally managed to get it. @Armani My replay is attached for your Woodworld level. Very nice level! I didn't expect it to be so difficult, but I surprisingly struggled with it. Before this success, the best I had was 1 less than the save requirement due to having one fall off while the first builder was in progress. I say the hardest part is the very beginning. Everything else was easy. Now if only I could say the same for your R3 level, which I still haven't been able to solve. It looks deceptively simple but is actually difficult. Looks like you were right about your R3 being the hardest out of your 3 contest entries, now that I'm not able to backroute it like before. I wonder what it is with levels where the entropy is reduced greatly but I can't figure them out. I think I'll get it one of these days :P

Wow, this is a really good level, Armani! I like this level and love the solution so much, much more than your pillar level :P Here is my replay solution ;) I did struggle for a bit with this level, but I managed to figure it out in about 15-20 minutes. Definitely was a much faster solve than your pillar level for me. Everyone else, definitely play this level! It's so good. Very clever solution. It's somewhat difficult, but IMO it's not too hard at all. I say the hardest parts are definitely the middle and exit area.

@WillLem You're on the right track, the first 6 skill assignments are all correct, everything else after that you need to think some more. Keep trying. It's a really awesome solution! ;) If you are still stuck and need a hint, see my replay.

Thanks for the replay kaywhyn, I had another go at this level and was almost there with it!

Spoiler
I'd figured out that you needed to shimmy along the underside of the overhang, and that you needed to build from the bottom right and mine to create a path. A bit more time with it and I probably would've spotted the Blocker turn. The only thing I probably wouldn't have figured out on my own is the Jumper>Shimmier transition - I'm not sure it would've occurred to me to do that, mainly because I've become too reliant on Skill Shadows, which of course can't show skill transitions.

Consequently, I'm glad I've played this level (and been shown the solution) because it's reminded me of one of the many reasons why I wanted an option to disable Skill Shadows in the first place! Viewing a level purely as a map makes you think differently and try things out that you might not otherwise have thought about if you're just relying on normal skill placements. I'll have to make sure to use the toggle when I get stuck on levels like this in the future! ;P

My pleasure. In that case, the NL Introduction Tutorial pack would had been extremely useful for you! :P At least you attempted and got as far as you could with it. That's what I admire in level solvers, even if they don't end up getting the solution entirely on their own ;) Also, there was one part of the jumper-shimmier transition that I misunderstood for a while, and that is I always thought that assigning a shimmier to a jumper could only be done while the jumper was still in the upward motion of the jump. It turns out that you can still assign a shimmier to a jumper when he's moving downward as well, but you have to do it before he becomes a faller, i.e, before he falls straight down vertically. Once that happens, it's no longer possible to assign the shimmier to the jumper.

I know what you mean! I don't mind playing without skill shadows either, especially since none of us ever had them while growing up with the game. I consider without skill shadows playing the game for real, although TBH I'm too lazy to switch the option off since I'm too used to it by now. However, it does go without saying that solving the levels without them enabled is much more satisfying than with them enabled, even if it does end up being more frustrating.

Great! As you may expected, that's the intended solution
I'm glad you guys enjoy my level.
The level originally gave a slider and some projectile spears but I felt the solution is unnecessarily complicated and fiddly, so I replace them with some shimmiers and jumpers and modified solution a bit.

And now, I'm making a level with original level idea(using a slider and spearers). I hope this time I get something simple and unfiddly but still enjoyable. :crylaugh:

Here's a version of The Steel Mines of Kessel which is modelled after the Macintosh version. The differences are thus:

  • There are 80 lemmings instead of 100
  • The save requirement remains at 90%, meaning that 72 lems must be saved (so only 8 can be lost)
  • Release rate is set to 50 instead of 75
  • Slight differences in terrain thickness mean that some decorations become obstacles, where others in fact require less skills to traverse

All of this means that the level can only be solved via a very obscure backroute. In the Mac version itself, certain glitches could be exploited to make other solutions work, such as the one found in this video (N.B. this solution will not work in NeoLemmix)

Level and solution replay attached. Enjoy the challenge! 8-)

So here are some of my levels that have been touched up a little bit for modern NeoLemmix (and their respective music tracks).  Enjoy!

Minim

Cool selection. You've got three different talismans for three different types of challenges in "Last Lemming Standing". I guess the new one to me is the bronze talisman, as I comfortably already beaten the silver and gold ones just simply by looking over to the corresponding thread.

Conversely, I'm not sure about the idea of three talismans for three different save requirements in "Deep Freeze", as I personally don't like the idea of collecting three talismans in one go. I wonder what other people think of this? Anyway, I'll give this one (And the other level, "Mind the Gap") a try.

Glad you like it!  "Last Lemming Standing" is slightly different in that the lemming is now a Floater rather than a Glider (due to complaints about it being a deliberate hobble in the original version) and you have Jumpers rather than Blockers, and well done for completing the Silver and Gold talismans no matter what you did, hehe!  The Bronze one is the new one and just requires working out how to clear the exit without losing the main lemming or using Walkers or Jumpers for fine control.

For "Deep Freeze", saving 76 is easy enough if you find one Blocker you can undermine, and 77 if you can spare using one somewhere.  78 and over requires a lot more thought (someone once saved 79 and I managed to improve on it by saving all 80, but it is INCREDIBLY fiddly).  Just a different way of arranging the talismans.

For "Mind the Gap", the silver talisman was my original intended solution, but IchoTolot found an acceptable solution that's easier to find, but uses all the Climbers, so I put in the talisman rather than patch it!

Since Armani mentioned it, here is the current version of "Denial".  It was in its 17th version last time because of backroute fixes, since the intended solution uses a pretty mean trick! (It doesn't require insane precision though).

Also got "Heaven and Earth" - special thanks to kaywhyn for successfully converting it when I failed.

Still got backroutes to fix in Denial, it seems, but I can't deny how impressive your timing is!  Updated in the post above to fix the backroute and the almost-intended solution you showed me on Discord.

As for your Last Lemming Standing replays... very nice speedrun and tool economy.  You forgot the worker was a Disarmer a couple of times though, and you could have probably been more efficient if you used a Jumper instead of a Builder to get up top.

I'm glad you think Last Lemming Standing is epic final-level quality!

Minim

OK, as Armani submitted his I might as well submit mine.

So, I found two ways to get the bronze talisman on Last Lemming Standing: A "backroute" solution which takes about 24 minutes by consuming all the zombies, and a quicker method which also surprisingly beats the 5 minute gold talisman. Unfortunately I had no luck on Deep Freeze and Mind the Gap, although I was one away on the latter. And as you uploaded "Denial" again I've yet to have a look at that one.

And I can't wait to see Armani's sub 4-minute solution for LLS, especially for such a large level.

The use of a Floater rather than a Glider changes up solutions a bit, and the presence of Jumpers allows the saving of time, although a full minute is still impressive!  And hey, if you manage to beat the 5-minute limit while not using Walkers or Jumpers, more power to you!  True, I figured letting all the Zombies out was going to be one solution - I'll probably let it happen, unless you think I should put in a 15-minute time limit!

Does a Floater rather than a Glider make the level less annoying now?

I'm loving all these different solutions for Last Lemming Standing!

Hello Crane, I have solved your individual levels. Last Lemming Standing was pretty awesome! Mind the gap was the hardest one for me. Probably not intended, but I might had made it harder than I needed to. I also use an extremely fiddly trick here :P Finally, Denial might be a bad backroute

One more Crane. I forgot about the level of yours that I helped convert to New Formats NL. Here's my replay for it. I absolutely love it. Very ingenious solution ;)

@Swerdis I've finally gotten a chance to take a look at your levels. Here are my replays for them. That builderless brick level was quite nice. I can see that you got some inspiration from Psycho 28 from Lemmings Plus 1, as I can see elements of its design in there. The hardest one for me was the Fire level Too much Pills and Liquor. Heidewitzka! was my favorite one. Super clever trick in the solution there. Nice job! Can you tell me what the translation for that is in your German language?

@Swerdis Ok, resolved your first batch of levels that you ever posted. Somehow I missed them :crylaugh: My replays are attached. These are great attempts at your first levels. I was stumped on both Help Me! and Pet Sematary, although I completely overthought the former, while the latter seems completely patched up and definitely seems to have been inspired by Genius 18 of LPII, as you have to do the trick twice from that level. It also seems to be completely patched up, as I couldn't backroute it. Desparate Parenthood appears to be a very bad backroute. Overall, these seemed harder than your second batch of levels you posted that I recently solved and that you just now had a chance to look at, although I'm sure that will change since you mentioned that you have patched them up sometime ago. At the same time, it's only because I kept overthinking the two levels I mentioned :XD:

Nice job and looking forward to your pack when it's released ;)

Thanks to Proxima and kaywhyn for testing the level and making some suggestions here and there.  This level, named "Blockout", is designed to introduce different blocker tricks in a moderately difficult level!

I also fixed up Denial, hopefully also keeping the solution fair.

Found my own backroute in Blockout - I unfortunately have had to block Proxima's "save 28" solution to fix it.  Also trying to keep the level neat!

Also updated the music track to "genesis/orig_02" (the Genesis version of Canon, located in the genesis subdirectory) and made some terrain updates, with thanks to Proxima for input and advice on the aesthetics.

Terror temple
Difficulty: 7/10 (Very hard)

I'm wondering if I should keep the hard levels I come up with out of the pack, or just put them in an extra rank at the end.

I solved this level, i think that I found a backroute becuase i don't used the climber. But it still a very good level

I decided to update Blockout a little bit by making the platform near the start much thinner...

So I've been making subset levels for a while now.  This one isn't a subset per se, since one of the one-way walls has been reversed, but I figure it makes a great "part two" level.  Have fun!  It uses Genesis music, which it expects to find in the "genesis" subdirectory of "music".

Name: The gate trap Lemmings (part two)
Difficulty: Moderately Hard

Nice level @NieSch. Having now watched the intended replay, I can see how I was fairly close with my own solution; some of the assignments were exactly as intended, others transposed the solution enough for it to be a bit backroutey.

One thing that I noted in particular:

Spoiler

In my original attempts at solving this, I did try to jump>shimmy from the long diagonal pillar to get to the far right area of the level, but was unable to. It could be because the lem was already a Glider, buuuut I'm not sure if that is the reason. A touch less pixel precision here might have helped me to unlock that last part of the puzzle ;P

That's a good point WillLem. There's no pixel perfection needed there. I fixed it.

I absolutely love the cloud tileset, zanzindorf did a great job with it. I tried making a "sky/cloud"-based tileset myself a while ago and just found it so difficult to get it to look right.

That is a gorgeous tileset - I might even start using it myself!

@Armani Sorry for the double-post, but I've solved two more levels of yours, this time both Cloud levels, Cloud Kingdom and Can Clouds Float on Water? Replays attached. These are both great levels, with the former the harder one of the two. I guess I just wanted to be on a roll with solving your levels lately  Great levels here!

Cloud Kingdom

The hardest to see on this level was using the walkers to get up the chain. I remember it just suddenly dawned upon me that that's what the walkers are for, rather than using them to interrupt skills. Otherwise, I kept trying to go out the right side through the trap, but even if you manage to do that, then you have absolutely no way to turn everyone back towards the exit, as they'll just walk back and drop into the water and drown. Very nice level here!

Can Clouds Floater On Water?

This, on the other hand, was a much quicker solve. The hardest part was isolating the worker lemming while being able to release the crowd later on and not impede their forward progress by making a gap along the path. That part is great!

Nice job with zanzindorf's new Cloud tileset!

This might be it? I spared a climber but the trick I used looks intended

@Armani

Perfect solution!

And yes, the extra climber is superfluous. It seems I've missed the obvious once more! ;P

I've updated my previous post to remove that climber

Nicely done!

Here's a space level I just made. It's nothing too tricky but I think it's fun nonetheless.

That's a very elegant solution. Not a backroute, it's an open ended level. Well done. :)

QuoteHi Dexter,

I have solved your level "Cause and Infect." Replay attached. Very different from the intended solution, though :P Still, this is a pretty clever level! ;)

Woah, nice solution! I should've known better than to underestimate you!

Attached is the updated level, intended solution is the same.

Hi Dexter,

I have resolved your level Cause and Infect. I was able to do it with a much smaller chain, but I'm guessing it's still fine since the core idea of the intended solution is still there. Maybe that's why the timing in my solution is tighter than it needs to be ???

Hi Kaywhyn!

That is indeed a perfectly acceptable solution, great job!

Hello,

An attempt at my very first Fire level

What an AWESOME Fire Level!

Difficulty: Hard

edit: Sorry, the level had the wrong level title in the editor. I have reattached it with the correct title now.

This is a level that I had modified from the Lemmix version of Revenge of the Lemmings v1 , some years ago , and also , I had made a version of that , for Superlemmini . The level is "All that a Basher can Do" by Dodochacalo . The level was in the beta version , of the Lemmix version of RotL , but It was about to be replaced , because in order to be solved , it required a Lemmini-only glitch (unfortunately we never had a final version of RotL for Lemmix . It only remained in beta) .

My modifications here , is to make the level possible to be solved , without the use of that Lemmini-only glitch. It is a non-glitch level now , but also it's intended solution is close to the original one.

I have also attached the replay of the solution.

Link for the music track , that I use for the level : https://modarchive.org/index.php?request=view_by_moduleid&query=108047

For the music track , create a folder , called "Turrican projects" in your music folder , and put the music track  inside that folder.

Here is how the level looks  (for the ones , that haven't seen the previous versions of the level) :
