More screenshots.
« on: November 28, 2011, 09:39:12 PM »
Some of you may remember that Japanese Lemmings site I found, which had all the screenshots of the levels of the snes version put together in one file.

Well, I've just redone it for the DOS version, since that's more familiar to us. (It can now be fairly easily converted to the Amiga version by adding water and the 2-player levels)

Here you go (warning, the file is several megabytes!):

and compare with the "original" snes one, which I'm mirroring here:

and the Genesis version, which I did a few months ago:

EDIT:
here is the Amiga version!

(note that it is made from screenshots taken in Lemmix from the Amiga's LVL files, and not from within the game itself.)

That picture is nice, except most of the levels is missing the water. How were those pictures that shows the whole length of a level made?

Screenshots in Lemmix (because the ones I have downloaded from the internet tend to resize the larger ones) – and yeah, the DOS version is missing water from most levels. It kinda sucks really.

EDIT:
I've added the Amiga version, which I've just finished preparing. Have a look. Again, large file!

It's taken from screenshots in Lemmix too, so in-game the levels may look slightly different (I think the background is a bit blue rather than black, for instance). But this'll do – it can show you nicely the differences between the different versions, as well as having the 2-player levels.

Would be interesting to have a web tool that allows direct comparison of the levels. I might try to whip that up after finals season if nobody else does it.

Also, the SNES link 404s for me.

Wow, these must have taken quite some time to put together :o. Great work!

I wonder if it would be a good idea to add labels to these pictures - rating names along the top and bottom, numbers down the sides, and a title. It's not really necessary, but it might make the images into useful diagrams for reference.

A project for another day, perhaps. I was also thinking of getting some screenshots of the Genesis 2-player levels. Most of them are squeezed versions of the Amiga's 2-player levels, but there are 3 entirely new ones. And I did get some screenshots of the new ones when I played through the 2-player levels (alone with my emulator, so not actually playing them properly), but I missed out a tiny bit of one because I misjudged how much of the screen I was showing. It takes ages to do, though, because you can't skip the level or increase the release rate; you must simply wait for the lemmings to empty out. Several times I just had to multiply the emulation rate, so that the lemmings would empty out quicker. And if you end up with a blocker out and no bomber to get rid of it, well, that sucks.

Screenshots of the Genesis 2-player levels have been added (filesize is up to 5 MB)

And isolating just the two player levels so that they can be compared more directly.

(Damn, that took ages. But not as long as I had anticipated, I guess. Problem is it's now half 2 and I have to get up tomorrow to get a vaccination. Argh, injections...)
