Fan Corner / Special Levels Music for String Quartet!
« on: February 29, 2016, 12:58:33 AM »
I am currently working on arranging music from the original Lemmings "special" levels (Beast, Menacing, Awesome, Beast II) for string quartet. Beast I is about wrapped up, and Menacing is currently in progress. There are, of course, multiple versions of these songs out there, and I am arranging by ear. So I was wondering what the consensus is on the most full-sounding, most interesting, coolest version of the Awesome and Beast II soundtracks. I am mainly using the Amiga track for Beast I, and I am using the Amiga track for Menacing now (although I will include a bit from the -I believe- SNES track, whichever one is in A-flat major, just to spice it up a bit). Open to opinions!
Thanks!

Help & Guides / Re: Holiday Lemmmings?

Ah yes indeed I found it on SuperLemmini, and then proceeded to plow through all of the holiday levels in one sitting. Not terribly difficult but a nice bit of seasonal fun if I do say so myself. Thanks as always for your help! :)

Just in the business of getting myself in the spirit of the season, I was wondering if there is a Lemmini-friendly version of the old Holiday Lemmings packs.

Thanks,

<strong>Coward 4 - Use Something to Turn!</strong>

<img src="http://geoo.digibase.ca/lemmings/DovelemsPictures/C4.png" alt="" class="bbc_img" />

<strong>Lemmings:</strong> 50
<strong>Save:</strong> 35 (70%)
<strong>Release rate:</strong> 1
<strong>Time:</strong> 2 minutes
<strong>Skills:</strong> 12 builders, 3 miners

<strong>Good:</strong> Simple but clever turnaround concept. Pretty design with great decorative touches.

<strong>Bad:</strong> In the Lemmini mechanics the miners always leave a ramp, making this significantly harder than it should be. Time limit and high lemming count mean you have to remember to change the release rate halfway through, which adds nothing to the puzzle.

Funny story: my closest fellow-lemmings-enthusiast, my mother, found a bit of a backroute to "Use Something to Turn." She figured out that instead of using your third pickaxe-guy at the bottom, you can just build stairs to the rock formation to the right, and, if you are vigilant and make the right lemmings build at the optimal times, you can barely make the required saving percentage. Sounds hard, and it was for me at least, but I'd say it's not as difficult as trying to mine out the perfect chunk at the bottom. (And oh yeah, thank heavens for 'replay.');)

I finally figured to look in the WinLemm folder instead of the Lemmini folder. Not sure if that's supposed to happen or if my stuff just went in the wrong spot somehow but I don't really care haha..I'm having tons of fun with it, on Devilish 25 now. (I almost tackled the legendary gravity zero in one pop, but even after getting all the floaters right it still took 20+ tries to bash in the optimal spot, truly a tough -and phenomenal- level.)

By 'the program,' are you referring to Lemmini itself or the DoveLems pack? I have Lemmini; I just cannot for the life of me figure out how to load dovelems onto it. If I just click on the Lemmini application, it is launching Lemmini with the standard starting screen. When I click to extract Lemmini, I find all of the folders I have previously mentioned, but not the 'Levels' folder. Sorry again for my lack of computer knowledge; I appreciate your patience.
Thanks,
Hyp

The only folders I am seeing in the 'Lemmini' folder are these: Extract, Game, GameUtil, GUI, javax, MEGA-INF, micromod, patch, and tools. After those, I have a bunch of '.PNG' and '.Class' items that my computer is unable to run. Is it one of those, or did I miss a step somewhere? (I extracted the data from Java Application 'Lemmini' into its own folder, but I cannot find a 'levels' folder.)

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "levels folder." On my computer, Lemmini just appears as a Java application.

Follow up question: once I have the file of his levels downloaded, how do I export, extract, or whatever I need to do to be able to open them in Lemmini?

Where can I download DoveLems? (for good ol' Lemmini) I have read people saying on DC's youtube channel, but I can't find it anywhere on there? Anyone able to give me a link?

Thanks,

When I try to open SuperLemmini my computer is giving me this message that says I can't open a "JAR" file. Is there a way around this? I tried extracting but it didn't seem to change anything. Also, I have Win95 Lemmings downloaded: how do I get SuperLemmini to recognize it? (Or does it automatically detect it?)

As far as the Windows 95 lemmings edition goes, are any of the supposedly downloadable versions of it legit? Or should I try to buy a disc copy of it on eBay or elsewhere? Also, does it need a copy of ONML of that edition to support those tilesets? Or does the one copy of original Lemmings do the trick? (And I am assuming Lemmings for Win95 is still supported by Win8, yes?) Huge lemming enthusiast but sadly also a bit of a computer noob. XD

Help & Guides / What needed to play (Neo)Lemmix, (Super)Lemmini?
« on: October 27, 2015, 04:22:57 AM »
I have read that Lemmini requires the Windows 95 edition of the original Lemmings to operate. Is this true? I have an HP windows 8 computer and own DOSBOX versions of both the original Lemmings and ONML. I have been interested for awhile in not only playing some of the fantastic level packs that the custom scene has to offer but perhaps even getting to work on creating a pack of my own. So here is my question: what is needed to download and operate Lemmini/Superlemmini and Lemmix/NeoLemmix? Can it even be done on my computer, or is it a compatibility issue?

Appreciate all of your help,

Hyp
