Where are we all?
« on: May 29, 2009, 01:47:02 PM »
Solely out of curiosity, I've wanted to find out where we're all based for quite a while - I said in another thread that Lemmings seems to be mainly British, but I'd like to see if this is true.
If you want to vote anonymously, that's fine, but I'd appreciate it if I could hear where you're from if you do select 'Other'. =P

Well, where-ever you're from, you can't deny that Lemmings being a British creation made for some interesting ideas.

My favourite being the Highland tribe in Lemmings 2. Who else'd've thought of that one but an actual Scottish development team!? It's so charming. They're even gingas, and drunkenly fall into the a telephone box backwards.

Then again, I'd also like to have seen American Lemmings. Just think "My forefathers fought for this flag ... and now I have to twister through it!" O_o

You didn't notice the Shadow lemmings ducking into an old blue police box in L2, did you? =P

True.  I really want to know this one.  Why is it that us over here in the US got a Doke Doke Panic (or whatever it is) remake with Mario characters instead of the actual Mario 2?  Games made around here commercially almost always suck. :P

The real Super Mario Bros 2 (what we know as the Lost Levels or For Super Players) was sort of like what Oh No! More Lemmings is to Lemmings: an extension for players who need more of a challenge.

I'm also supposing the PAL/NTSC-US territories got the Doki Doki Panic remake because Miyamoto-san didn't like SMB2 (he wasn't part of its development, after all... and he was a part of DDP development ... and of course, they could have remade any game, but they remade one that he was a part of).

I rather like our DDP/SMB2 anyway. I love Shy Guys and Snifits. :P

That is a good part, I suppose.  At least there are ways to get to play Lost Levels.
Or, as I like to say, the REAL Mario 2!

Somehow, I never actually knew where Lemmings was created before. Anyhow, I'm from the US.

From Mike Dailly's history of lemmings? Something like five guys in an apartment somewhere in Kent, UK, I think.

Just out of curiosity, is there a way to get that level editor they used?

I doubt it, and Lemmix will probably be way better when it's finished, but, no point in not asking.

Mike used to frequent the previous forums and the LemmingsWelt forums before that. If anyone knows how to get a hold of him or to let him know about these forums, perhaps he's the person to ask.
