Lemming Artwork

Being an avid doodler/paint/graffiti (facebook) -er, I've done a fair few doodles that involve lemmings... here's one of them :-P

Woah.  That's pretty awesome.  Ask Mr. K to post a picture of that lemmings mask he made.

I'm not doing it, though.  It's his mask, after all, so if he doesn't want it to be seen, so be it.  It does appear in one of his YouTube videos, though.

When I make the artwork for my freeware game, "Warrior Robot," I might hide a lemming in one of the pictures as an Easter egg.  Keyword being "might."  Even if I did, it would be a very small lemming.  An interesting idea might be making a picture of the Cyber Wastelands (where you end up after the bad guys put what is jokingly Windows, which will probably be revealed at a later point in the game).  The computer that runs the teleporter BSOD's!  There's a room there with a lot of computers, and I could make one that looks like someone's playing lemmings.  Could, anyways.  Now that I think of it, I'll probably make it without that, then post an edit of that here.  Could take a while to get around to, though.

Those are both pretty cool.  :D

Well, I draw a lot, so I'm not going to do too much of this at once (most of it is fairly old, anyhow). The old stuff is on my site, if you happen to be morbidly curious. I haven't updated my site in a long time, though, and it might not be working quite right.

First off there is what is in my avatar.

This, which is just a random Lemming.

This, which is Lem'ka.

Lem'ka again.

And again, though that didn't work so well.

And a failed and sucky site design.

I haven't done anything recently, so you might've already seen this stuff. I can't remember. XD

May as well post some stuff that's already up.

Ch'mera. Fairly recent.
Not so recent, but I like it anyway.
Ancient, but again I like it anyway.
Most recent full-colour picture.

The old stuff is on my site, if you happen to be morbidly curious. I haven't updated my site in a long time, though, and it might not be working quite right.

That's probably why most of Lem'ka's pictures are 404'd. =P

Yeah... we had to change things around with our internet recently, due to the ISP or the cable company mucking around (they blamed each other), and we had to switch to a different server. I still haven't got it quite all figured out yet. I'll just link to my DeviantArt page for now, I guess. I thought I had got stuff figured out, but guess not.  :-\

And I will humour you by underlining the links, I suppose, since it won't hurt me. (Although I think it looks quite odd.)

Random Lemming.
Lem'ka again.
Forgot this one, but it's quite old.

The last three in my other post were already linked there, so there shouldn't be a problem with those.

Your stuff is still really good, Ch'mera. Your shading has gotten a lot better, too. It's cool.  :D

Take those underlines off if you think they look odd. :P

Looks real good Lem'ka. If you're who I recall from the old forums, the magic hasn't been lost! If I'm imagining someone, or thinking of someone else ... then you're either as good as that person (what a stupid compliment) or as good as my imagination (I don't know who I'm complimenting this time ...) hehe. I'm sure it was you, can't mistake your drawings of your character!

*bump*

Quote from: Lem'ka
Those are all really cool. I like how you manage to make your Lemmings rodent-like and everything, Chmera.  laugh

I could've sworn I replied to this topic... but then I realized that was the topic a couple boards back.  Shocked  Well, time to fix that, since I just scanned stuff and I'm thinking of it.

Lemkoo, the evil demon guy. This one's really sketchy.

Some random Lemming.

Lemriesk, Lem'ka's half-brother who was captured and is part cyborg now.

Lemriesk again. I like the first one better.

Lemerek, Lem'ka's weapons instructor. I like his expression, and I guess I mostly like this, but I somehow forgot to include any way for the weapon to be secured to his belt... ah well.

Lem'ka, looking far less threatening than usual. The weird shading stuff is my attempt at making the face look more snout-like. Didn't work too great, but whatever.

Then of course there's the more pixel art stuff.

I got no clue why I did this any more. There it is, though.

Or this, really...

Lem'ka, I believe. I don't think I ever used this avatar.

I'm using this as my avatar right now, but that could change. Some random Lemming trapped in a dungeon.

Lem'ka again. I despise the armour on this. If I redid that it might be passable. It was going to be a layout thing (thus the writing), but I couldn't take the armour. Maybe I'll fix it up and add a background some day.

So there you have it. I think that's about where I left off last topic, but if not... oh well.  Tongue

(Assuming Lem'ka on the old forums is Lemika on these)
Come on, where are those pictures?  I especially want to see Lemriesk!

In the early part of The Lonely Soda Bottle, a few episodes contain Lemmings.

http://www.lonely-soda.com/?id=009

Note:  It being lemmings isn't obvious until a few episodes later, but if you look you can tell the game Violet's holding is Lemmings, but I'm not going to find where the lemmings part ended; you'll have to find that on your own.
NOTE:  This comic is appropriate for most, if not all ages.

I'm pretty sure it's appropriate for all ages, Star. The guy that runs it is a fundie. I used to know him. Gave him the idea for that story arc, in fact.
Incidentally, the hand-drawn backgrounds in the first few were mine. I never got much credit for them though. Despite probably doing more work on those than he did on the comics themselves...

And 1 is coming right up, Giga. And possibly 4. That would actually be rather amusing.

I think the picture is awesome. :) The minimap in particular is really good. It's accurate, and I like the seemingly random pixel made by an earlier builder (just like in the game).

The pixels on the minimap show the location of the lemmings. The two isolated pixels correspond to the two lemmings visible on screen. (Incidentally, the level looks like Taxing 7, but the skills are wrong :P )

Anyway, since minimac posted an actual Lemmings level as an example of his artwork, I thought I'd repost one of mine from the old forums. This is the template for three of my levels (Goblin City, Twenty Second Teaser, Surely You're Joking Mr Lemming) and it takes advantage of Cheapo's vertical resize feature.

Nooo, i'm not talking about the green dots. I'm referring to the brown dot between the the terrains to the left of the view area, which is likely to have been caused by an earlier builder. Sorry, I wasn't clear. :P

Those levels are quite cool-looking. :D

(Assuming Lem'ka on the old forums is Lemika on these)
Come on, where are those pictures?  I especially want to see Lemriesk!

Yeah, that's me. The ' won't go in the username here, so I just went with how it sounds like.  :P

A bunch of things changed with my website (not least of which was deleting all the old stuff and completely re-doing it), so all my old links don't work any longer. I'll see if I can find those things again...

Lemerek
Lem'ka, sketch with poor snout-shading
Lem'ka, old avatar I think
Lem'ka, layout
Lemmy
Lem'ka
It's like Lem'ka

The last two black-and-white ones are the only ones I actually really like any longer. -Sigh- I need to do more Lemming art.

Apparently I didn't keep any of the others when I re-did my website. I did find a few more on my computer, though (Lemriesk, Lemkoo, Lemmy with bomb, Lem'ka - relatively new), so I guess I'll do the attachment thing.

So yeah. Cool stuff here as usual, guys.

I was drawing sprites today, and made this as a side product.
Even though the game will be completely free of graphics from
Lemmings, it remains good to know your roots.

There's a bunch of similar small pictures and avatars, I should
post them all at some time...

Edit in July 2011: Haha, at least the WIP made it out with free-only stuff in spring. Also, check out the following, made by geoo:

yeah, unless i'm mistaken he used to be called Nuntar, and he also used to be a member of a language nerd board that Nortaneous and I are members of. fortunately I do have other ways of contacting him if I want to, although it's still a bit like he's dropped off the face of the earth and I'm not entirely sure whether he'd reply... anyway we've met several times IRL via that other board and I think he showed me that level when I stayed at his house one time. back when Cheapo was still in fashion, lol.

I think we kinda messaged on facebook last year saying "yeah, we should totally meet up again" but it never came to fruition - I'm a bit rubbish at things like that (social arrangements and stuff). And now I'm not nearby anymore - we used to be in neighbouring cities.

Here's some lemming artwork... a few years ago some of my friends made this: http://www.tomscott.com/lemmings/

Didn't work out too well and I think it was more of an excuse to use green-screen technology (which then of course didn't work with Lemmings), but have a look anyway. I'm not in it, btw.

Haha. Did they switch the colors around after doing everything with a green screen? Level 3 is especially interesting, it has great and surprisingly simple 3D effects with the floor and the side column. And Microsoft Hearts :D
