If I removed the stars, it would be valid code and would activate as a annoying yellow text. I might be able to rig something else...

Lemeri, I think you should have square brackets instead of diagonal ones. Like this: [blah]blah[/blah] instead of this: <blah>blah</blah>. It might work better.
