The Adventures of Lomax - Linux?
« on: October 14, 2007, 08:26:53 PM »
Hi there, wondering if one of our very few Linux users knows of a way to run Adventures of Lomax in Linux. Wine doesn't work, because it can't force Lomax to accept the colour depth and just play. I don't wanna install Qemu or VMWare just to play the game, and I don't wanna dual boot either. Too much space wasted on a Windows installation...

Anyone? =)

(PS: If a solution exists, the game may become playable under Mac OS X too)

Can't you just change the color depth of the X server to whatever the game's asking for?

I just spent a week in Linux Land and had to do this for some games in WINE.

Legend has it that if you change your screen depth in xorg.conf to 8-bit, then 256 colour titles magically start working under Wine. Not sure if it's true, but I'll try it out soon enough with some stubborn Sierra titles.

Of course, the other way to get around this is to just grab a PSX ISO of Lomax, and a recent PlayStation emulator (don't forget the BIOS image!), then play it like that.
