I don't know a whole lot about this game; only that it's a multiplayer game something like the "Mafia" forum game we played years ago. It's only 5 dollars on steam.

Post here if you'd be interested in doing this sometime, probably on the weekend like we usually do Lix or UCH, before or after 18:00 UTC.

IchoTolot

I've watched quite a bit of this game on YT and it looks like quite a lot of fun. :)

If we have enough people for a lemmingsforums round, then you can count me in.

Shmoley

I just tried the game! It's SO much fun! I'd be totally down to try but is it okay if I play on mobile? Because I don't have it on steam..and how would we communicate with each other?

Dullstar

There's text chat in game or voice chat through discord. I haven't personally tested it, but my understanding is that there is crossplay between PC and mobile. If using Discord, stay on mute except during discussions or if you're dead.

I'd be interested in joining.

Shmoley

Something I'd like to point out if we do this: If you want to join the session but haven't played the game before, I highly suggest playing the game a bit before we do this. I think it would be more fun if everyone knew what the game was about and what you had to do.

mobius

I might have time to try this out this weekend? Likely on Sunday. I'm not sure how many people we need. I'd recommend using discord if we wanna voice chat. I'll familiarize myself with the game a bit before playing if we do. It seems fairly simple overall though (in rules anyway).

I'll think its best to cancel this for this weekend. My schedule's too uncertain and I haven't gotten time to play the game yet at all so I don't know how it works.

When I played Among Us, nobody told me how it worked... it took me an hour until I found out that there was a map on which you could see where each room was and where your tasks were. Until that, whenever I was a crewmate, the crewmates lost, and whenever I was an impostor, the crewmates won...:-\

Shmoley

Well.. to be fair being imposter is very difficult especially when you're new. I personally suck at imposter but I'm getting better at it. And you'll eventually memorize the maps and know where the tasks are without even looking at he map. It just takes practice. And that's why I said people should play it before we do a live event for it because it can be very confusing for new comers

mobius

I've been watching the game as well and I think I have an understanding of it; capable for playing. If I'm gonna play it for the first time with anybody it has to be you guys. I think if a number of people playing the first time are playing together that should work.

I'll likely be available this Saturday (for a change), but I'm also willing to play basically any weeknight around 12:00 AM UTC. On weekends I can do much earlier than that (our usual weekend multiplayer things are around 17-18:00 UTC

oh yeah I haven't even bought the game yet :D I will if enough people actually express interest. I'm gonna talk about it on discord as well.
It looks like you need around 6 people minimum for a good game? Idk. Also voice chatting would be advised. but not unnecessary; but unlike most games you have to agree upon voice chatting rules, which is okay.

I could play any weekday or weekend, it doesn't matter I think it's down to whatever you decide.
Edit: Question about discord because I literally just got it. As far as I know there are servers you have to join to talk to other people so does the Lemmings forums have its own server that I could join?

Dullstar

https://www.lemmingsforums.net/index.php?topic=3062.0 for discord link

It's worth noting, since it sounds like it would be a rather inexperienced group, that there is a free play mode that you can use to get familiarized with the maps, tasks, and controls; it's probably a good idea to give it a spin before playing for real - that way you won't be trying to figure out the controls on the fly and the imposters will have at least a basic familiarity with the crewmate tasks.

WillLem

I've played the mobile version of Among Us a fair few times, it's a decent game! I'd be up for joining :lemcat:

Pieuw

It's a very fun game I often play with friends! I would have joined you if my spoken english wasn't awful. :crylaugh:

QuoteIt looks like you need around 6 people minimum for a good game?
5 players is ok. It makes for shorter but also punchier games :)

Shmoley

So to clarify for everyone what time we are going to play. Will it be posted on the forums here or on the discord server? Or both?

mobius

Let's try to aim for this Saturday; some time in the afternoon [my time] that's 17-18:00 UTC? If this doesn't work feel free to suggest otherwise.

The Lemmings Discord server has a few voice channels; they're at the bottom under "radio colony"

I'm pretty tired this week (crappy work) so weekday's probably not good)

reminder we're planning on playing this today, and/or tomorrow; looking for at least a couple more players atm, if anyone's interested head over the to lemmings discord.

https://discord.gg/tMTte4BJ

If we get people together tomorrow it'll be around 2:00 PM Eastern Standard US time.

[I am not using UTC anymore because of daylight savings and bullshit it's always changing and I have to use a converter anyway. people can just use a free easy time zone converter if you live in a different time zone. So today I had it wrong; what I meant was (apparently) 19:00 not 18:00 sorry.

any interest in a game Friday afternoon or evening (Us Eastern time)? Jan 22

It'd be nice if we can get at least 7 or 8 people this time and have two imposters

A tentative plan for a session about a week from now; On Sunday [FEB 7]; same time we did Jackbox?
[I say tentative only because I'm unsure how the weather's going to be again, which could be bad for me]

For those that are curious about the game; it's about 5$ on steam. Up to 10 people can play.

The rules are simple(?);
-you are randomly assigned crew mate or imposter at beginning of round.
-As crew mate your job is to walk around the ship and complete tasks. These are very simple puzzles; the game literally tells you where to go and what to do. If you find a dead body you report it (a button lights up). A meeting happens and every discussing who they think the imposter is/are. Talking is only allowed during meetings. If you are killed; you can not talk for the rest of the round but still play the game as a ghost.
You can also call a meeting once during a round without finding a body; by pressing the "button" in the meeting room.
-As imposter your job is to sabotage the ship (you get a separate button and diagram) and kill as many crew mates as you can. When meetings happen you try to pretend to be a crew mate and either avoid getting voted out or vote crew mates out.

You may also want to mention that the game is completely free on mobile. ;)

lets plan for another big game this coming Sunday; Feb 21, usual time?

for when we have a smaller group; I know you guys already said you weren't keen on this but there's another game mode I've played now with another group a few times and it's fun imo and much better suited for a smaller group (less than 6 or 7 people) [or even 5 or 4 which is near impossible not much fun under regular rules].

"Death by Daylight" mode
-Imposter has minimal vision, crew has best vision
-Imposter announces their self at start and must sabotage comms, (from then on forward cannot sabotage anything, or close doors. Imposter must also mute and *deafen* himself.
-Crew waits until the comms have been sabotaged to go find/complete tasks. Also crew generally gathered around an area somewhat separated from imposter to give them a bit of a head start (so the imposter isn't able to immediately kill someone.
-Crew can speak to each other for entire round, until one dies. Cannot talk after you die.

-No emergency meetings allowed. Only report a body if somebody calls out that they're being chased/about to die. During a meeting; must skip. So no one votes out imposter (since everyone knows who it is anyway)

Point is the goal is to finish tasks before the imposter kills everybody, not vote them out. This makes for almost a different game entirely; but still fun imo.

This sounds like an interesting version of the game, I'm up for trying that out.

Dullstar

Seems this weekend didn't work out too well for anyone, so perhaps March 6 or March 7 at 19 UTC? I'm offering both days as suggestions, but likely we'd only do one of them, based on which day works the best for most people, so if you're interested, please specify which day(s) work for you!

Flopsy

Annoying as it sounds, I'm actually working both of those days.

It sucks because I was available for the session just gone. Hope you manage to get enough players.

On the subject of times though which you brought up last night in the discord chat room, if you were to arrange sessions after 8pm EST in the future then I would be able to play no matter what day it is because it is after 1am my time. Since someone said that this game has more US players than European.

mobius

Right now I've been away pretty much every single Saturday; but this is about to change; I would guess within about a month at the most. After that I'll be available either day. But for now I'd prefer Sunday.

Who'd be up for a game on Sunday the April 4th at our usual time (18:00 UTC or 6:00 PM).
Up to 10 players can play.  This game is completely free on mobile for any unaware. It is also available on steam and Nintendo Switch for very cheap (it's 5$ on steam which is peanuts compared to most games)

By this time the new map will be released so would be interesting to try out.

Also just to note; I'm down for any impromptu sessions in the meantime, basically any day really in US Eastern evening time.

Since the new update the menu screen has changed to where in order to change your name (I think) you have to log into the game's website to change your name?? I accidentally did that but don't actually have an account and I think I might have broken my ability to use a decent name in the game. Anybody know anything about this?

some of us are still having fun with this game but a lot of interest has waned, clearly. It's difficult to get enough people to play a game. But I'd like to know if there are any other still wanting to play. I'm open to scheduling games in advance and times other than the Friday night which is very late for Europeans. Like maybe two or three weeks from now; a Sunday around 6:00 UTC?
