As a follow-up to my lemmings history post, this post will keep track of three separate level pack lists: packs I have beaten (green), packs I'm currently playing through (blue), and packs I haven't played yet (red). The number in parenthesis after the name of each list indicates the total number of packs I have listed. For the lists, I'm simply going through Wafflem's stickied list of level packs he made on the list of levels in the Neolemmix board. Obviously there's way more packs out there than just the ones on his list, but if I list every single one I'll never be done. I'm only going to be making lists for Lemmini, Superlemmini, Dos, and Neolemmix, as I have no intention to play any packs on any other platform. For each engine, the number in parenthesis after the name of the engine indicates the number of packs I have listed for the engine. Each engine first lists the author followed by the name of the pack. The number in parenthesis after the author's name indicates the number of packs by the author I have listed, not necessarily the total number of packs the author has released. The number of packs for each engine for each of the three lists is then added to get a total number for each list. Keeping lists is a personal thing of mine that I like to do, and I think this is also me, but I like seeing things crossed out on a list as they're completed. Given there's so many level packs, I think these lists are a great way for me to personally see how much overall progress I have made, as well as a great way for record bookkeeping and to keep organized. For packs I'm currently playing and eventually beat, I'll either strike them out or move them to the completed list. I haven't decided what I'll do with that yet.

edit: For now, for in-progress packs I complete, I'm going to do both a strikethrough of the level pack name in the in-progress list and move the beaten pack to the "completed" list.

Level Packs I Have 100% Completed (122)

Dos (5)

Mazu (1) - Mazulems

ssam1221 (3) - KillerMaster's ver. 1, KillerMaster's ver. 2, and ssam1221's Lemmings (although I recall one of the levels in I think ver. 2 freezing completely during play and so I haven't completed it, perhaps due to hidden steel around the marble exits

namida (1) - Lemmings Plus Dos (mostly completed, 148/150, only two levels I haven't solved, one of which was replaced by a different level in later versions because it was way too difficult to execute. I know the solutions to the two levels, just couldn't bother to execute them)

Lemmini (15)

Icho (1) - Lemmings Reunion

Dodochacalo (4) - Dovelems, Cachapack, Dodopack, and Franlems

Pieuw (1) - Pimolems

Mobius (1) - Mobilems

In short, I have pretty much completed all packs made for Superlemmini.

Deceit (1) - Deceit's Lemmings

exit (4) cLemmings, ONMcLemmings, Holiday cLemmings, and cLUE (cLemmings Ultimate Edition)

Minim (1) - Holiday Lemmings 1995

Neolemmix v1.43 (8)

Giga (4) - Resident Gigalems (came back to play on 11/15/20 to get replays since I didn't have any last time), Resident Gigalems 0 (came back to play on 11/18/20 for the same reason, for replays), Gigalems (came back to play on 11/21/20 for the same reason, for replays), and Holiday Gigalems 2015 (v1.43 started 12/10/20, completed and added to "completed" list 12/11/20, FlexiTool version started and completed 12/11/20, but I count both v1.43 and FlexiTool versions as just 1 pack since they're the exact same, just in different formats)

Essman (1) - Copycat (came back to this pack 11/13/20 to play it again so that I have my own set of replays which I didn't have the last time I played months ago due to not having the setting to automatically save successful replays enabled [complete replay set 11/14/20])

Strato (1) - Lemmicks

namida (1) - namida's Recycle Bin pack (started playing 11/27/20, finished 12/2/20 and added to "completed" list 12/2/20)

Neolemmix v10.12.12-C (1)

Gigalem (1) - Gigalem's Holiday 2016 (note this is for v10.12.12-C, thanks to eric who had this NL player. Pack loads fine in 10.13.18, but two levels crash due to complaining that it can't load kiwi.dat, which probably means the tileset wasn't updated to the latest Old Formats NL version; started 12/20/20, completed 12/21/20, added to "completed" list 12/21/20)

Neolemmix v10.13 (17)

Geoffster (1) - GeoffLems (just used my Old Formats replays and updated 7 of the replays that didn't work for New Formats - I might do brand new solutions down the road, but this is good enough for the time being)

Strato (1) - Lemmings World Tour

I'll probably eventually play the other packs not on Wafflem's list that are on the level boards that I didn't list, but the ones listed here are the ones that I'm certain that I will play.

Also, suggestions are welcome for how I could maybe make the lists better looking. I initially did the level packs in spoilers, with only the name of the engine visible, but I later discarded that, as I really want everyone here to be able to see the level pack names without them being hidden in spoiler tags. Especially with how I have plenty of engines listed it's annoying to click through all of them to reveal the level packs I have listed under each one. This is the best I've managed to come up with for the time being.

This is a great idea kaywhyn, I love lists and record-keeping as well.

If you're looking for a more presentable format, maybe a table would suit? Tables take a little bit of figuring out format-wise, but they do look great.

Here's an example table, feel free to copy and paste if you like the idea (for anyone: press "Quote" at the top right of this post and then copy the html if you want to use this):

Header AHeader BHeader CHeader D
Value A1Value B1Value C1Value D1
Value A2Value B2Value C2Value D2
Value A3Value B3Value C3Value D3

Re: Lemmings Stampede Finally Completed! Total of 50 Packs Beaten =)
I've done it. I've finally beaten Lemmings Stampede. Wow, what an excellent pack! bulletride did a really great job.  I must say, there is a huge jump in difficulty once you get to the Wild rating and it stays that way for the rest of the pack. Wild 1 immediately stumped me big time, but imo the solution is wonderful. I had no problems with Tame or Crazy.  Wild was difficult, but not as much as much as Wicked or Havoc. Surprisingly, Wicked 5 - No Bones was the major roadblock for me and remained unsolved for a little over a month. Interestingly enough, my solution is completely different from Icho's and another forum member, josh, where both of theirs are the same. I initially did think of taking the path they took, but I wasn't able to think through it correctly in my head. Now that I've watched their replays for the level, I feel very dumb for not seeing it! The path I took was through the huge mound of dirt instead of building twice across the water gap at the top. Mine involves interrupting a miner midstroke with a builder, and my solution would had failed had I not been able to seal off the path going back to the left on the bottom before the water gap. There is only one spot that works, and if that spot didn't work then I would had been stuck even longer. Once I finally solved Wicked 5, the remainder of the rating was actually easy. However, the entire Havoc rating was very difficult, as all the levels in there were really hard, except for Havoc 4 - Afterthought (part 2). I felt part 2 was much easier than the first Afterthought, which is Wild 10.

In any case, it felt very satisfying to beat all the really difficult levels in the Wild, Wicked, and Havoc ratings on my own, even if I ended up overcomplicating some of them compared to Icho's or vice versa. I have edited the OP to reflect the fact that I've now completed Lemmings Stampede. Now, back to either Casualemmings or Lemmings United for me to make further progress on!

I was just wondering, because I loosely remember from your introduction post that you enjoy the classic Lemmings experience: Are you aware of Cheapo lemmings?
It's a lemmings engine that was quite popular before the Lemmix times. It only features the classic 8 skills, and I think the only special object that behaves differently from traps is an antigravity object (and rarely any level ever uses it). There is support for custom styles, and there is a replay feature akin to WinLemm, but other than that I don't think it has many fancy features. The title screen might be a bit of a turn off at the beginning, but the gameplay feels very classic and a lot of excellent levels have been made for this engine.

The download is available in this post. The website only has a few levels, but if you're interested I can dig out a few nice level packs from my hard disk.

It also had teleporters, and (anti-)splat pads.

I'll also note, Cheapo runs very poorly on modern PCs (not just super-new, but pretty much anything that's made in the last 10-15 years). That's a big reason it fell out of use.

Hey geoo, yes, I have heard of Cheapo lemmings, but I have never tried it out. I don't know too much about it, but I believe I've already played a level pack that was originally for Cheapo that got converted over to Neolemmix by namida. It's only compatible with 1.43n. I think the only feature that I was aware when I was playing through the pack is the much larger splat distance, falls where the lemmings will definitely splat in Neolemmix but are survivable in Cheapo.

In any case, I think I won't really be giving Cheapo a try anytime soon. I always have lemmini, superlemmini, and lemmix if I want to go back to the classical style of playing lemmings. I stayed with these 3 for at least 5 years before I finally took a dip and gave Neolemmix a try last year. Thanks for telling me about Cheapo, though! ;)

Re: MegSEBytes (Old Formats) Completed!
« Reply #6 on: June 10, 2020, 08:26:10 PM »
Another update to the OP. Having completed MegSEBytes for Old Formats, i.e, v10.13 or earlier, but not entirely completed (see 3rd paragraph below) in New Formats, I have reached the milestone of completing 50 packs! Halfway to 100! :)

Another change is in the third list of packs that I'm thinking of playing, I corrected the misspelling of Flopsy's and Wafflem's 2nd collab pack from "MegSEBytes" to MegSEGAbytes. The former is a collab pack by Flopsy and Wafflem and is now part of Flopsy's SEB Lem pack as a rank, which features 18 of the 30 levels, while the other 12 are in the main ranks. Although it's mostly obselete, it's a 30 level pack still available for download and playable for Old Formats Neolemmix. The latter is also a Flopsy and Wafflem collab pack and is the sequel to the former pack. So, while the packs are related in a way due to being a series made by the same two authors, the packs are not the same. I'm not sure if I'm the only one who consistently gets the two confused, as the level pack names differ only by two letters!

So, why mostly completed? Because there's two levels in the New Formats version of the MegSEBytes rank in SEB Lems that weren't part of the original MegSEBytes pack in Old Formats. However, it's going to be a while before I get to those two levels of the MegSEBytes rank of SEB Lems, since I don't like skipping around in level packs and prefer to play levels in order. Not to mention that I haven't started playing SEB Lems yet! So, while I have beaten the MegSEBytes pack completely for Old Formats, the rank itself in SEB Lems is not entirely completed in New Formats because of those two exclusive levels. In addition, there might had been some backroute fixes in the meantime, so the levels might be slightly different in New Formats.

Finally, I have added three packs to the third list: Flopsy's and Wafflem's MegSEBytes for v10.13 (probably should had been part of the list originally, but at the time of the OP I thought I would just play it when I get to Seblems, and so wasn't in the list).  and Wafflem's packs Lemmingbytes and Wafflems. The v10.13 MegSEBytes pack was added 6/10/20, and I started playing it 6/6/20, but it has now been struck out and added to the packs completed list. The reason for the question mark for Wafflems is because I'm not sure if the pack is available anywhere. Flopsy has some videos of a playthrough of the pack on Youtube, but I understand that I would have to contact Wafflem to ask for the pack. Only problem is that he hasn't been on the forums since late 2018!

Re: Lemmingbytes Completed! Total of 51 Packs Completed
« Reply #7 on: June 23, 2020, 08:45:29 AM »
Another pack completed: Lemmingbytes. This total is now 51 packs I have completed. I like how the ranks are units of measure that refer to computer data and ranked in the correct order, starting with the smallest unit of byte, then kilobyte, then megabyte, then gigabyte, and finally terabyte, the largest unit out of all of them. Bits are a similar unit that also measure computer data transmission, except it's expressed in binary, i.e, 0's and 1's. Now, 1 byte = 8 bits, and notice that 8 = 23. Even the total number of levels in the pack, 128, is a number you often see when dealing with computers, as in 128-bit encryption, and also notice that 128 = 27. Thus, the number of bits you often find can always be expressed as powers of 2. We most commonly see 32-bit (25) and 64-bit (26), both which refer to the architecture of the computer hardware. Most computer machines are 64-bit these days. I think the very first laptop I ever owned was 32-bit, but it was 64-bit capable, as the system information in the control panel verified.

As a whole, this was a great pack which is much easier than some of the packs I recently completed. I breezed through the first 3 ranks with little difficulty, but the difficulty started picking up a lot starting with the penultimate rank, the Gigabyte rank. The last two ranks had some really great challenges that managed to stump me for some time, but I ultimately was able to conquer all of them and thus finish the pack. As a matter of fact, I haven't completed a pack of over 100 levels that is more on the easy side in a really long time, not since I completed Sublems on Superlemmini a few years ago.  For the Gigabyte rank, my favorites were Level 11 - Circular Circus, Level 19 - Splash Mountain, and the rank finisher, Level 26 - Culture Shock. The hardest one for me in that rank was Level 16 - Tightbeam Ship. I struggled with finding a way to build up and get to the ship, but after a time I realized that the thrusters had solid terrain that I could build to. Then the rest was easy. I always thought that terrain where traps are were non-solid, just like the traps themselves are, but now I know.

Even the 26 terabyte levels weren't a huge struggle at all. I really liked a lot of the levels in that rank. In particular, my most favorite one of the rank was 17 - Storming the Drains. It's an excellent puzzle that really had me thinking but I really loved how the solution all came together in the end. Other favorites of mine from the rank were Level 1 - With Your Nose So Bright, Level 2 - Sea Stacks, Level 11 - Doorway to Nowhere, and Level 22 - Seeing Red. The hardest one for me in that rank was probably 21 - T=0K, which I noticed that Icho was listed as a collaborator on the preview screen, the same one who made Reunion and United, and so I expected the level to be difficult, and indeed it was. The main challenge was finding a path through all the obstacles and seeing where I could conserve the destructive and constructive skills whenever possible. Level 12 - Do you Like Wafflems? I say was probably a second close in difficulty, but as it turns out I took a completely different route than Icho did in his video solution of the level, one which I self-inflicted way too much precision. Even the rank finisher managed to stump me for a time, but it's a really nice puzzle for the final level of the pack.

Overall, I really enjoyed the pack. Great job, Wafflem! I played this pack in the hopes of possibly finding the "certain trick" that I need that Icho told me for the level I'm currently stuck on in United, but I don't think I have hit upon it in any of the levels of the final rank of Wafflem's pack. Perhaps it's in another pack of his. In any case, I have updated the OP accordingly and added Lemmingbytes to the completion list. A few days ago, I was going to announce that I started playing Lemmingbytes, but I decided to wait until I had finished the pack. Instead, I edited the OP and moved Lemmingbytes from the list of packs I'm thinking of playing to the currently playing list. Now it's been struck through and also added to the completed list.

Congratulations on beating Lemmingbytes! I just wanted to provide a quick correction to your starting post:

Quote
Strato (4) - Paralems, Pitlems, and Lemmings World Tour (old and new formats)

You've listed all of these under "NeoLemmix v12.9.2". Just note that from these, only Lemmings World Tour is available for both Old and New Formats thus far.

Pit Lems I am still in the process of converting - this takes longer because I add in a select few levels from Paralems and Pit Lems to replace the radiation- and slowfreeze levels in Pit Lems. Beyond that, the ranks in the New-Formats version are going to have 30 levels each instead of 20 like in Old-Formats, so that "Pit Lems Remastered" will be longer overall, serving sort-of like a best-of of my first three packs.

As a consequence, however, Paralems will not be converted to New Formats. If you want to take a look at it, feel free to do so, of course! ;) Just don't expect too much in terms of fair and purely mechanical challenges, and be aware that it only exists in Old Formats.
My packs so far:
Lemmings World Tour (New & Old Formats), my music-themed flagship pack, 320 levels - Let's Played by Colorful Arty
Lemmings Open Air, my newest release and follow-up to World Tour, 120 levels
Paralems (Old Formats), a more flavour-driven one, 150 levels
Pit Lems (Old Formats), a more puzzly one, 100 levels - Let's Played by nin10doadict
Lemmicks, a pack for (very old) NeoLemmix 1.43 full of gimmicks, 170 levels

Thanks for pointing this out. Indeed, I think I have realized this error at some point and had been meaning to correct this, but I keep forgetting to. Not sure why it has taken this long for me to. Thanks for reminding me.

edit: done!

I'll mention that while LemmingBytes may stop there, units don't. 1024 TB makes a PB (petabyte). 1024 of those is an exabyte, 1024 of those a zettabyte, and 1024 of those a yottabyte. I beleive that's as high as prefixes exist for, unless there's some rule for combining prefixes to make even bigger ones (which wouldn't actually surprise me).

These same prefixes also apply to any other unit that uses the "kilo", "mega", "giga" etc prefixes, too, although in those cases it's usually 1000 rather than 1024. (If you want to get really technical - 1024 rather than 1000, for bytes, is denoted by a slightly different prefix. In practice, most people use them interchangeably.)
My Lemmings projects
2D Lemmings: NeoLemmix (engine) | Lemmings Plus Series (level packs) | Doomsday Lemmings (level pack)
3D Lemmings: Loap (engine) | L3DEdit (level / graphics editor) | L3DUtils (replay / etc utility) | Lemmings Plus 3D (level pack)

Yes, you're absolutely right about there being bigger units than the terabyte, namida. It just so happens that Wafflem started with the base unit of byte and ordered the ranks correctly from smallest to largest, where he stopped at terabyte. All the ones you mentioned after the terabyte are ones I never heard of, so this is informative. Thanks for this. Quite honestly, even if computer manufacturers ever release bigger hard drives than the terabyte, I don't think anyone would ever be able to fill up a 1 petabyte hard drive in a lifetime. This is just way too much space. Not to mention what I imagine would be an extremely hefty cost, which I'm thinking several tens of thousands of dollars, especially if it's an SSD! Heck, other than my dad I don't even know anyone who has a 2 terabyte hard drive or bigger, and currently his is not even half full!

The second paragraph is also correct. That's because the other units that use the same kilo, mega, giga, etc. prefixes are metric units, which is based on powers of 10, which is why 1000 is used, while the units that use the byte and bit are usually expressed in binary, or powers of 2, which is what computers use, and that's where 1024 comes in, and it so happens that 1024 = 210.

I'm almost certain that there are prefixes beyond yotta. Even if there isn't currently, these units will eventually get names. In the meantime, one can have fun and come up with interesting unofficial names bigger than the yottabyte.

Mega- and giga- come from words meaning "large" and "giant", but from tera- upwards the prefixes are based on Greek numerical prefixes (tetra, penta, hexa, hepta, octa) with fudges to distance themselves from their numerical origin, make them snappier to pronounce, and give each one a unique starting letter that can be used as the abbreviation. The next prefix up, then, should fudge "ennea" and should start with X. "xena-" comes to mind, or perhaps "xenna-" to prevent confusion with the prefix "xeno-".

That's great analysis there, Proxima. I certainly didn't notice the connections of the prefixes of the units to the numerical prefixes before, but that's because anything past terabyte I have never heard of and therefore am completely unfamiliar with them. Haha the last two units namida mentioned happen to be Z and Y, and so it makes sense to have the next official name be one that starts with X. Of course, it doesn't have to. At the same time, starting with terabyte the first letters of the bigger units have been going backwards: From T to P, then E, then Z, then Y. Z and Y happen to be consecutive letters in the alphabet, but the rest before them aren't, and so the next one after the Y unit doesn't have to be X. Still, I like your idea of a name. The best I can probably think of is superxenabyte. Yea, I know, I'm not so good when it comes to making up names of my own. Can't blame me for trying, though lol.

200/205 Lemmings United Levels Beaten! 5 Main Levels Remaining
« Reply #14 on: August 12, 2020, 08:02:21 AM »
Well, it's been a while since I have updated my progress on various level packs here. However, if you been following along with my posts the last several months on the forum, you'll know that I've been and am currently playing through the pack Lemmings United. It's been nearly a year after I started playing the pack, but as of now I have officially beaten 200 levels, all in order, in the main pack! Thus, I'm down to the final 5 levels of the Genocide rank. There's still a bonus rank of 30 levels afterwards, but right now I'm extremely close to the end of the main pack.

There's 41 levels in each main rank, which means I'm currently at Genocide 37, supposedly the hardest level in all of the pack based on discussions I read all over the forums. That worries me greatly, but let's see how long it manages to stump me once I start my attempts.

Truthfully, I thought I never get this far in the pack. As good as I am and can be when it comes to solving levels in Lemmings, it was definitely a huge and long struggle to have beaten 200 levels. This pack is touted as a very hard pack, but save for a few levels that really stumped me good, a lot of them I didn't find so bad. In fact, when I finally reached the Genocide rank last month, around the second week of July, I constantly had fears that the rank would be too hard for me and hence the pack would finally beat me. Indeed, the first level of the rank managed to amplify that fear, as it was still a no solve after a couple of hours that evening. Nevertheless, I kept coming back and managed to finally get past it. There were other levels in the rank I struggled greatly with, but not as many as I thought there would be.

With this, with only 5 main levels remaining, since I'm so close to the very end, I definitely plan to get through the rest of the pack. It may have taken me 11 months to get this far in the pack, but I've come too far to possibly stop now. For comparison, in 2017 Reunion took me 3 months to beat, and that was on Lemmini! Wish me luck!
