They all look very neat! I like the builder and the floater especially. I wonder what materials you used to make these models?

The white ones are done in what shapeways call "White Strong and Flexible" and the other ones arent done yet, but to be done in color they have to be done in "Full Color Sandstone". I havent done them yet in Color myself.

This is the kind of detail that material has:

Hey, I know your work - nice to see you posting here!

I bought one of the Blocker lemmings in Strong, White, and Flexible some time ago. He quite often lives with my other unpainted miniatures in my dice and miniatures bag.

I'll be interested in seeing how they come out in Full Colour Sandstone.

I hope you don't mind my asking, but how did you make the 3D models for these? Did you extract them from a game, or make them by eye?

The first one was based on this image:

And the rest came after that. I used the Lemmings 2 design because they are the ones I always felt were more endearing. I dont think any 3D game used that design after that.

About the Colored versions, as soon as I can Ill order some and Ill post pictures here.

Ah, wow, that is cool!

A Floater model that looks identical to yours was posted under a different Shapeways username some time ago, so I was never 100% sure as to where the models came from. I mentioned it here back when I found it, and Mikex62 suggested the model came from a couple of games circa 2000 or so.

Ahh, ok. Haha, I wasn't sure if someone had somehow falsely posted your work under another name. :D

My Lemming arrived this morning!

It's brilliant. mel_miniatures did a great job designing it.

The material and colors look a bit like fondant or marzipan but I'm glad I don't have to eat the thing. The miniature feels very fragile so I'll keep it safe in my showcase. But first I did a small photoshoot:

WOW! Thank you very much! Do you think I should tone down the colors?

No not at all, they could be a bit stronger/darker even, but I don't think the material is suited for that.

Edit: Or is that what you mean by tone down?

I like these a lot! I like the appearance of these better than the appearance of the PSP lemmings/whatever the lemmings are at the top of our forum.

How did you get the climber to stick to the wall? Or the floater to float...

Wow, the full-colour models look absolutely gorgeous!

Definitely going to have to get one when I can.

The ones in the forum banner are the PSP ones, yep. I always thought that they looked a bit bird-like, myself, given the structure of their heads and the feather-ish design of their odd-looking separated chunks of hair. :P

Well, the image with the Coke can is a 3D render so its not real. In real life I have my floater with a fishing line andvthe climber glued on the wall. The rest stand on their own.

I just noticed that Shapeways is (finally!) trialling Full Colour Plastic as an option now. Will the Lemmings models become available in this at some point?

I'd absolutely love to be able to get another of the smaller ones in this stuff, as they make great RPG miniatures and desk decor, but I have no painting skills. :D

These are incredibly cool. I probably won't be able to afford one, though. But good job on them!

Those are some fantastic photos, there - looking good!

Have Shapeways made any progress with their full-colour plastic, yet?
