Clones Tournament
« on: May 05, 2011, 05:27:14 PM »

For anyone interested in competitive multiplayer Lemmings-like gameplay there will be the first ever Clones Tournament next weekend! (May 13th - 15th 2011)  We are still uncertain if remote entries will be accepted but if they are then you will receive a free copy of Clones when you enter the tournament, in addition to the glory and cash prizes to be won.  We are estimating remote-player entry fee to be $5 CND or less.  Please let me know if you are interested and we can pressure the event coordinators.  ;P

If you've never witnessed a multiplayer Clones match then check out this battle between myself and ttk, the programmers of Clones - http://youtu.be/x1aHWleETXE

Here are some other exciting annotated multiplayer matches:

For those of you not familiar with Clones, it was inspired by the 2-player mode of Lemmings for SNES and fine tuned by the feedback of some members of this forum

To be fair, Adam, the tournament was part of a larger annual event covering a number of very different multiplayer computer and console games, physically held in Winnipeg, Canada.  rt has no say in the actual dates of the event.

But why always busy on 2nd weekend of May?  College final exams?

Sorry :(  As CCX said we ain't calling the shots this time around.  However i would like to have future Clones-only online tournaments, with prizes, although i fear Simon will crush all opposition.  Handicapping might need to come into play.

Got word back from the event coordinators, remote play will not be enabled for this tournament.   :(   I tried to sway them, but in the end the focus is on LAN gaming.
