Try the information on the "I can't play Lemmings 2" thread and see if anything helps.

I read it but that just gets it started. It doesn't seem to fix the mouse problem.

Hey,

what operating system do you use?
What version of Dosbox do you use?
Have you made any changes to dosbox.conf?
Do other mouse-heavy games work properly in Dosbox?

If unsure with the config, does a fresh install/unpacking of both Dosbox and L2 remedy the problem?

I use windows vista and the newest version of Dosbox. I have not made any changes to dosbox.conf either. I have not tried any other mouse heavy games. Reinstalling didn't do anything.

Dosbox should work under Vista with no problems, I think ccexplore uses the exact same setup.

A different game to try may be Lemmings 1 or also their download of L2 in case you got your version of L2 from somewhere else. I'm out of ideas right now besides that :/

Thats where I got it from. Also I already have lemmings 1 and a level editor.

(This sort of stuff always happens to me  :P )

Ah, does L1 work inside Dosbox with proper mouse handling then?

When you run Lemmings 2 using the abandonia download, did you run the game via "L2-fix.com"?  Otherwise you aren't running the patched version.  The unpatched version has a variety of problems (though I don't remember your mouse problem being one of them), you need to run the patched version by running L2-fix instead of L2.

If that isn't it then I'm out of ideas, here are a random list of things you can try:

1) if you have any other input devices (eg. joystick) connected to your computer besides the keyboard and the mouse, unplug all of them, so you're left with just the keyboard and the mouse.

2) Try running DOSBox in windowed mode and see if there's any difference.  Toggle between full-screen and windowed via Alt+Enter (ie. hold down ALT key and press ENTER).

3) I haven't actually upgraded to v0.74 of DOSBox, so perhaps you can try DOSBox v0.73 and see if it fixes the problem, though I'd be surprised if it does.

4) Maybe try a different mouse? :-\ :P

L2-fix is the one I'm using.

Also other games with mouse control work perfectly.

EDIT: It's just started working randomly and I didn't even do anything!!!!  ??? :D
