100% solutions for Mayhem 1, 9 and 25 are now up.

I uploaded my 100% run for Taxing 4 - Lend a Helping Hand.... to the web portal. For some reason the water graphic doesn't show up in Lemmix, does anyone else have this problem?

There should be no water graphics on that level for DOS Lemmings, if I recall correctly.  DOS Lemmings is missing water or lava on many levels (as compared to the Amiga or Windows version, say), probably due to memory constraints etc.

You are right, I just checked. EDIT: Crap, I'm dumb. Didn't read your entire post.

Maybe we could start a database for keeping max lemmings saved solutions? I'd be more than willing to help out.

Or a file portal directory...

What does everyone think about adding a description field to the portal?

Yes, that would probably be a good idea...

Edit: The water tile isn't even being loaded in the level, so if a lemming enters that part of the level he falls off the screen instead of drowning.

Hmmm... it isn't showing up in the portal yet. Here's a sendspace link just in case: http://www.sendspace.com/file/57rc93

Cool, I didn't realize it was possible to clear the final gap from the pole with only one builder. Before coming up with my solution I had spent an entire afternoon trying to figure out how to 100% it but everything I tried came up one skill short.

Thanks for the help. I'm looking forward to seeing more of these. That Havoc 10 solution was pretty crazy! What exactly caused the first miner to stop mining? Also, as a request I'd like to see the 100% solution for Taxing 16 (Mary Poppins land).

Thanks for explaining the paths. I still get the "invalid stream format" error when I try to open an lrb file though, any help?.

56
When I try to open the LRB file I get an error message: Error during play: invalid stream format. Also for some reason the path for all my .dat files seems to be hard coded to C:/LemOrig, so I couldn't open them from their original locations. I moved the files to C:/LemOrig and now they work, but since the graphics files for the original lemmings and ONML have the same name I can't have them both in the same directory, so I have to keep moving files around if I want to view levels from the different games correctly. Any help?

Lemmings Main / New backroutes in the PSP version of lemmings
« on: August 18, 2006, 05:37:32 PM »
In Mayhem 7, Poles Apart, it is possible to dig and bash through the ground under the poles without falling through the floor. This allows you to complete it at 100% using just one climber, one digger, one basher, and five builders (maybe less?). Has anybody else found any new backroutes in the PSP version? If so, post them here!

The 2 other missing levels were All the 6's and the Fun version of We All Fall Down. They were also missing from the Windows 95 version.

Music seems the same as the windows 95 version

The controls are as follows: D-pad moves cursor, X assigns task to lemmings and can also be used to select a task/nuke/fast forward, L1/R1 scroll the level left/right, L2/R2 select previous/next skill, Start pauses. None of the other buttons are used.

You cannot select skills while the game is paused. Also while the game is paused the music stops playing. On the plus side it is the only version of the original Lemmings (other than the Windows 95 and recently released PSP version) and Oh No More Lemmings where you can actually save your progress.

All in all it is a pretty sloppy port, not worth checking out if you've played the other versions of Lemmings/ONML

Update:  I just managed to save 77/80 on Taxing 27 - Call in the Bomb Squad. The solution requires all ten bridges as well as a perfectly timed bomber.

It is therefore possible to lose a total of only 68 lemmings.

The Lose 3 solution is tricky to pull off (comparable in difficulty to the 100% solution on Taxing 16).  You need one blocker/bomber and 3 bridges to hold the crowd, a bomber to lower the start of the main bridge (so that the builder doesn't hit his head), and a blocker to turn the lemmings around toward the exit.

Here are a few hints (highlight them to read):

1.  Stack 3 bridges on one of the stairs to keep anybody from going right.
2.  In order to start the main bridge as low as possible, time a bomber so that he goes off right after he begins to fall off the left edge of the ground (This is by far the hardest part of the solution, as the bomber must be timed exactly right).
3.  From the bomber's hole, build 6 bridges left, then block (the builder cannot hit his head on the ceiling or the solution will likely fail).  Use the last bridge to reach the exit.

Actually you can just use two blockers to hold all the lemmings while one lemming builds left, if you build at the last possible pixel each time you can clear the left side of the platform with nine builders.  (Obviously he'll hit his head a few times.)  Then you just need to make the builder block at the top of his ninth staircase, blow up the left blocker and use your last builder to reach the top of the platform.  This worked for me in the Windows 95 version, but I haven't checked any other versions yet.
