General Discussion / Birthdays
« on: September 26, 2009, 10:21:35 AM »
My birthday is on the 29th of March. When is yours? You don't have to give the year on this reply if you don't want to. I don't need to, because my age is on my profile already and from today you can figure out what year I was born.

On this poll you can only vote once, and you can't change it either.

Help & Guides / EGA Colour Palette Extraction
« on: September 25, 2009, 07:43:49 AM »
I was wondering, I have seen images of EGA lemmings levels converted from VGA graphics.

Fortunately, I know the colour codes for EGA Lemmings (I've posted it below) and I know a program called Adobe ImageReady; That was the helpful program that can convert VGA into EGA (Despite having to do a lot of hard work to get it done!).

The problem is, for each level set, I can't remember for each terrain piece, how the VGA colours of each piece were originally changed into EGA.

Firstly I must ask this question: Does anyone still have EGA DOS lemmings?

Other Projects / The Lemmins Fangame
« on: September 24, 2009, 03:10:45 PM »
Here's a fangame which was not posted on the archive, and here's the site where you can download it from.

http://games.softpedia.com/get/Freeware-Games/Lemmins.shtml

What do you think of this clone? Is it good enough to be downloaded on the Lemmings file archive?

Help & Guides / How to upload levelpacks on the archive.
« on: September 24, 2009, 02:25:55 PM »
Let's stick this topic up.

Here's how to do it: (If you logged in to the archive then avoid step 1)

1) Register, filling your details as you go along.
2) Log in unless you registered.
3) At the bottom of the "Level packs" page click the button "Upload a level pack"
4) Choose a name for your pack in the "pack name" box.
5) Describe the pack (If you want to, it's only optional)
6) Find the Common path for the level pack. In other words click "Browse" and find the level pack in your file.
7) Click "create" and there you have it! Your level pack is there at the top of the first page.

Level Design / Guides on designing harder levels
« on: September 19, 2009, 03:01:22 PM »
So then, while you're planning to design a bombers only level or wanting to stick with just builders, here are some tips on how to create the perfect "Mayhem" or "Sunsoft" level. This is generally based on skill facts, for example how wide does a digger dig; how big a bomber explosion is; but it can depend on other things like lemming distances.

* Lemmings can jump over a wall of 6 pixels or fewer.
* The bomber blast diameter is 21 pixels high and 16 pixels long. You can blast 8 pixels below ground, 12 pixels above ground, 8 to the right and 9 to the left.
* The right builder can stretch as far as 27 pixels long (26 per stair, as low as one can be used for the right ledge) and the left builder 26 pixels (24 per stair, as low as 2 can be used per left ledge).
* Lemmings splat at a drop of 64 pixels or more.
* Climbers can be held back by a wall after 2 stairs are built immediately at the top (This only works with left walls).

I'm only talking about Lemmix, I'm not talking about Lemmini or CustLemm here. The picture in the attachment shows what I mean by the final hint.

Forum Games / Countdown Numbers Game
« on: August 31, 2009, 12:55:37 PM »
By the way, guys, this is my second attempt of making a forum game. They show this on the TV show Countdown, the longest running game show in the world. OK: I have a selection of large numbers "25, 50, 75 and 100" and small numbers "1-10" and all you need to do is combine the numbers together to write a solution with the following numbers selected using the symbols +, -, * or / to reach the target number. Brackets are allowed as well.

I hope I explained clearly enough, if not here's an example:

Target number: 846
Selected numbers: 100, 50, 8, 4, 6, 10.

First you do 8*100 which is 800 then +50 which is 850 then -4 to the 850 which makes 846.

The solution can be written like this: 8*100+50-4

General Discussion / Where's the global moderator?
« on: August 29, 2009, 02:09:15 PM »
I've been concerned about where the moderator of the forums is. He hasn't been active since the 20th of August. I think he might be too busy focusing on something, or lost interest. What should we do if our threads get disturbed? Should we have a new moderator or should we close out the forums (Heck, this is my first forum, please don't tell me this is going to happen)

EDIT: I found the answer, he's (occasionally) in hospital! :o

Fan Corner / Blooper solutions!
« on: August 22, 2009, 04:54:07 PM »
Remember the famous Homer Simpson grunt? Well, that's the word we should be saying in this brand new topic! It's all about a simple little mistake in a solution which can ruin your entire attempt. For example here I have a lemmix replay showing the incorrect solution for Tricky 3 (Apparently you can't download this replay unless you've signed in, which is rather disappointing :(). I'll put up some more eventually.

Hint: Press the "F" key when you get the replay for a fast forwarded version of the solution. This takes away the 10-second skip bit but still, you won't be too impatient. Anyway, have a good laugh! :D

Help & Guides / I've already figured out this one.
« on: August 16, 2009, 06:55:48 PM »
A few days ago I was trying to find a way to play my levels on my lemmix clone. I have finally succeeded but the way to do it is very difficult I don't have the time to write a walkthrough. I felt exhausted after I've done my hard work. My previous help topic has definitely helped in this situation. :)

Help & Guides / Graphics set swap issues.
« on: August 14, 2009, 09:25:15 AM »
I am trying to swap a graphics set from Snow to Christmas for one of my saved levels using Lemmix Level Editor. I don't have lemedit. Lemmini doesn't accept Christmas levels. The problem is as soon as I change the configuration settings the sign comes up as: "Can't find Graphics set 7". I can't figure it out. :'( Although it does seem to work when I do it the other way round.

This challenge was intended as the sequel to the 99 release rate challenge thread.

So, out of all the levels which are unsolvable with a 99 release rate, what's the maximum release rate used to solve these levels? I originally intented this for Lemmini as I claimed it had "a more accurate release rate than the DOS version and the Lemmix clone".

Anyway, these are the following levels which can't be solved with a 99 release rate, updated with new records.

Tricky 18: 87
Taxing 23: 91 (89 for 100%)
Taxing 28: 63 (3 for 87%)
Mayhem 10: 89 (97% result unconfirmed)
Wild 8: 89
Wicked 15: 77 (5 for 96%)
Havoc 5: 29
Havoc 9: 35
Havoc 12: 69
Frost 14: 53 (7 for 90%)
Hail 5: 91
Blitz 2: 97

Site Discussion / Postal news
« on: July 30, 2009, 07:12:59 PM »
25/12/14 (12/25/14)
We created 1,000 topics! Now that's what I call a milestone, especially considering the timing of the post and the fact that the server may be moving soon. Thanks, and Merry Christmas to everyone!

15/7/14 (7/15/14)
We have now hit 20,000 (legitimate) posts! Further (positive) details in my post. Congratulations!

14/03/13 (03/14/13)
It's been a long time since I updated this, but I've noticed that all of our contributors have hit the 15,000 post mark! A user called 'The Lemmings Encyclopedia' triggered this postal milestone.

26/06/11 (06/26/11)
As Clam Spammer said in his last post, the forum is popular enough to hit the 10000 post mark!! It took over 2 years to do that since the forum started, but what an outstanding achievement that we have made to keep the forum running! Fantastic!

14/10/09 (10/14/09)
We have overtaken the 5858 mark from the '06-'09 lemmings forum! Now I know why this forum is more popular than any other lemmings forums that were there.

11/10/09 (10/11/09)
I would have reached 600 posts if these never-ending forum game posts would not count. Anyway, I have something to show you on the last post.

24/9/09 (9/24/09)
Big news, We are at 5000! We have your winner at the last page.

11/9/09 (9/11/09)
There are 2000 posts on the Lemmings Discussion forums!

6/9/09 (9/6/09)
I've hit 4000!  That is amazing that we've hit 2000 on the 30th of July compared to nothing on the 24th of May when the forums have started. The Lemmings forum is getting more popular now!

5/9/09 (9/5/09)
Clam Spammer turns into SUPERLEMMING! Fantastic!

2/9/09 (9/2/09)
I've turned into SUPERLEMMING! Although this could be my breaking point. See "The Fast" to explain why.

31/8/09 (8/31/09 ET or 8/30/09)
The number of posts have reached the 3500 mark. I'll tell you who the winner is at the bottom of the page. Mind you, he started a new topic in the Lemmings discussion sub-forum.

27/8/09 (8/27/09)
When I just turned up, 1500 posts were made in the the Lemmings Discussion Sub-forums!

21/8/09 (8/21/09)
I've posted the 750th post on the Games sub-forum! Even though I am starting to turn away from the forum games, I especially wanted to do it. 250 posts in 12 days. Incredible!

17/8/09 (8/17/09)
I've posted the 400th post on the level designing discussion, and the postal mark is almost hitting 3000!

13/8/09 (8/13/09)
There are 120 topics now with 4 of them locked, one by me and three by Adam, making a total of 116 unlocked topics. And I've posted my 250th post on the lemmings forums, even though I am the latest member to enter!

11/8/09 (8/11/09)
An addictive brand new forum game is increasing the number of posts very quickly! Me, namida and sometimes Yawg were currently playing "Single letter word game" which already has got a lot of posts. namida is on Mayhem as he has posted over 250! (First time I looked he was on tricky with less than 100 posts). I've made a table of user postal milestones for each level.

31/7/09 (7/31/09)
The 1000 mark on the number of Lemmings Discussion posts has been hit! The user who triggered the 1000th Lemmings Discussion post was...

30/7/09 (7/30/09)
I've been through the statistics page and now, the number of posts have reached the 2000 mark by all users (Including me) over the past two months (To be precise, the first post started on 24th May 2009). Luckily, I was anticipated enough to post the 2000th post of this lemmings forum.
