Forum Games / Re: Mafia -- Lemmings Edition

The accusations have been random at best, without anyone outing himself as the miner yet.

You absolutely have to think through yourself today what geoo suggests. If there is a miner that knows a rogue lemming, he should declare openly his role and the rogue. He will be protected by the blocker.

If there are two rogues, this is the only chance to get them today. If we kill at random, the chance is 60 % to kill a good one, leading to a no-win voting tomorrow with 2 rogue vs. 1 good. (Slim chance of 2 rogue vs 2 good if the blocker has survived until the night AND picks the correct one at random out of 4.)

I do not have a special role, so please reveal! I believe that at least geoo is genuine (opening the discussion with correct strategy usually means genuine in these games).

Lix Levels / Re: Lix Community Level Set
« on: April 05, 2014, 09:38:23 PM »
I consider Lix Potion Number Nine very tricky for newer players, closer to 0.8 through 1.0 than the current 0.1. The compression trick is not obvious. The first solution I found was block, dig down the leftmost pillar, and bash underneath the lowermost traps, cancelling the basher mid-stroke.

Decompression method (make 9 blockers, then mine underneath them) may or may not be harder than it -- it doesn't allow such a backroute and forces you to see the main trick, but the skillset guides one to the trick unlike Potion's 1-of-each skillset. On Decompression method, I'd give 9 blockers instead of 10 to make this guide even stronger.

Lix Main / 2014-04-04 released
« on: April 05, 2014, 08:08:24 PM »
Hi folks,

Lix version 2014-04-04 is available. Download Lix or view the changelog.

If you've designed things for inclusion in the release, you might check if everything is where it should be.

There have been physics changes. The older versions can't be played on the central server anymore. If you would like to play online, the update is mandatory.

General Discussion / Re: Best quotes from IRC and Mumble
« on: April 05, 2014, 09:06:21 AM »
<NaOH> why do I remind you of peach?
<Rub> well the thing about peach is shes a girl
<Rub> the thing about you is, your a girl
<Clam> can't fault that logic
<NaOH> omg what!? I never would have thought of that connection!
<NaOH> you are truly a genius
<Rub> thanks!
* NaOH bows deeply
<NaOH> you've completely changed my entire life perspective
<Rub> Just another of those pro moments in IRC
<Rub> one for the history books
<Clam> this is going in the Best Of topic

Then today, after reading cc's post:

<SimonN> I want to post a quote to the 'best quotes' thread, what should I post
<Clam> I wonder if NaOH's client stopped updating again
<Clam> there was one yesterday, I even went so far as to say "this is going in the Best Of topic"
<SimonN> oh yes, Rubix needs a girlfriend
<NaOH> no
<NaOH> what
<NaOH> hi
<Clam> to RUB him up
<NaOH> that was at clam

Site Discussion / Re: Who actually runs the forum these days?

Migrate to something stable, without ads, and good customization (missing spoiler tags here, etc.) Ad-free is huge, you want to operate the forum yourself.

If someone is going to register new webspace/domains, I'll pitch in a one-time 10 euros for hosting costs. :-)

And give at least 3 people maximum rights for the board -- one will be AWOL and one will lose the password. >_>;;

Yep, everyone had this. Apparently Adam fixed it after a couple days, even though he didn't post here afterwards.

As a relic, the challenge board is now displayed at the top of the homepage. :-)

Lix Main / Re: Lovecraftian Tile-set
« on: March 28, 2014, 12:27:54 AM »
This is an amazing set, exploring a fresh theme.

The hatch is an amazing piece of animation, and the pixel art on the exit everything sets a new standard in the game.

<SimonN> the tentacles look very relieved to finally be able to fall through the hole in peace
<NaOH> awwe =D

You were a little concerned whether the limited palette fit into the game, whereas most tilesets don't limit their palette. Compability with existing tilesets is not a must-have. Some pieces from other sets will look fine with it, others will look strange, but that's normal for most sets.

We shall conduct both lists at the same time, since the first is getting a little dull.

Ballooner: 6 [-2]
Icarus Wings: 13 [+1]

I shall not include Lemmings titles that republish L1 levels for the n-th time (PSP, even though it has additional levels), and games must use the Lemmings franchise. Missing games shall be added by other people, who may, as a bonus, instantly select 3 different games from the list and deduct 1 point each.

Lemmings: 5
ONML: 5
Holiday: 5
Tribes: 5
Chronicles: 5
L3D: 5
Paintball: 5
Lomax: 5
Revolution: 5
Playstation: 5

Lix Levels / Re: Stuck in Rubix' levelpack, Sinister 12
« on: February 20, 2014, 05:25:27 PM »
I've recently found out about Lix and I was hooked by the game since I first tried it. It really gives a 100% Lemmings-feeling, despite the new custom graphics, style and interface. Really well done!

Thank you. :-) This is so nice to read.

If you can convert stuff to Lix it would be awsome.   Small community for the game currently, mainly because its still not officially released.

My standard disclaimer: The game doesn't run flawlessly on each system. The currently used graphics/etc. library is getting outdated, and I do strange things, like having all graphcis in RAM, almost nothing in video memory. The game's level and terrain formats are openly readable and documented though, and the game can read .LVL, .DAT, and Lemmini .ini files.
