General Discussion / Re: Lemmings Gamebooks

Do you aspire to make a website out of them with one section per webpage, possibly even with cookies tracking the statistics? If yes, turn to 372.

Text files or HTML are easier to read than a PDF. If you wish to scan the books, then of course release the images or a PDF as-is.

Replay for Rumble to the Bottom, this looks like a precision route and it spares one blocker skill. Proxima, is this intended?

Cunning, Every Which Way but Loose: The attached solution must build pixel-perfectly inside the small steel pit.

Thanks for the accolade, Akseli. :-)

namida: Thanks for the info, that makes it less daunting. The usual reminder: I use Allegro 4.4 which is getting old, I might port to SDL2 or Allegro 5 at some time, and sometimes I do strange things with the graphics.

cc: I have changed the jumper/tumbler code to fix a bug (jumping through thin platform from below), and your case is handled by this code. I forgot whether I made the ceiling check more lenient by 2 hi-res pixels, but I probably have.

I'll examine the replay later.

Forum Games / Re: Explosive mafia

NaOH was a walker. möbius has exploded legally.

After the explosion, the remaining town consists of 1 2. This gives the mafia complete information on who to lynch and therefore win, even if the blocker becomes mayor.

I suggest to end the game here and give the evildoers the win.

If the last good player would like to play on, NaOH shall immediately declare another player mayor. The player's vote, if there is one, will count as 1.5 today already.

The mafia has assassinated Giga, who was the miner.

Living players: geoo, möbius, NaOH, Ramon, RubiX
Living citizens: 1 1
Living evildoers: 2 1
Current mayor: NaOH
Dead players: Timballisto, Giga

It is now day. Public discussion and voting may begin once more!

Möbius, your vote would not have changed the game. :-)

The first day has ended, because there were no votes for 24 hours. Timballisto has been voted once (and once more belatedly) and there were no other votes. The town decides to lynch Timballisto, and discovers he was a walker.

Living players: geoo, Giga, möbius, NaOH, Ramon, RubiX
Living citizens: 1 1 1
Living evildoers: 2 1
Current mayor: NaOH
Dead players: Timballisto
  • The mafia may collaborate secretly, PM me and choose a player to assasinate.
  • The blocker may now PM me and choose a player to protect from the mafia.
  • The miner may now PM me and choose a player to investigate.
It is now night, please don't discuss in public.

Lix Main / Re: Preparing June 2014 release
« on: June 30, 2014, 08:18:26 AM »
Release will be done during [Wednesday, end of week[.
  • Palm tree will make it in named palmtree.png without spaces.
  • Amanda, what do you think about including the tar water object?
  • Clam's and Rubix's levels are updated to their current releases here. I will fiddle a little with Rubix's multiplayer dir structure.
  • Bug tracker: The current critical bug (Miner just stops) must be fixed. Already fixed bugs are listed at the bottom of the bug tracker. Everything that is not deemed critical will not get tackled before the release.
People have now been waiting on simple bug fixes for two months? NaOH's editor bugfix has been completely independent from the physics. This is ridiculous shipping time, even more so for open source. This must change in the future.

Maybe physics changes should not go in the main branch, instead they get merged when appropriate. UI bug fixes must be shippable immediately without forcing all users to update. Release early, release often.

Lix Levels / Re: Prob Lem's Lix Levels (Hrududu; Lab Lixes)
« on: June 30, 2014, 02:21:51 AM »
The user interface uses the plural "lix" throughout. This brings the game's title in accordance with Lemmings, Hamsters, Clones.

"Lixes" is colloquial. If there are other levels that use this plural, then it's fine. I use this word myself in IRC.

I will treat Ramon's post at 2014-06-29 09:46 UTC as an accusation against Timballisto. It is not mandatory to bold accusations, "I accuse X"/"I vote for X" without any conditions is okay, but bold accusations help me distinguish.

As a rules reminder, the day closes 24 hours after the last made/withdrawn accusation. Since Ramon's post was the only one so far, that's in about 10 hours.

Clarification in the original post: If there is a tie, the mayor must choose one of the tied players. (Previous wording: If there is a tie and the mayor has voted for a non-tied player, then bla bla; this assumed the mayor issued a vote.)

If you want something in this direction, make every hotkey freely remappable. >_>;; You never know the user's layout or physical location of special keys.

The miner has received his information.

The first day starts! The random first mayor is NaOH.

Open discussion and voting may begin.

The first night has started. PMs with your roles have been sent.

Living players: geoo, Giga, möbius, NaOH, Ramon, RubiX, Timballisto
Living citizens: 2 1 1
Living evildoers: 2 1
Current mayor: NaOH (this was chosen randomly after the miner has selected his target)

The miner may PM me back and ask about another player's alignment. The mafia does not assasinate in the first night, thus the blocker has no need to block.

When the day starts, I will make another post; this will be in 1-2 real-life days.

Right, I'll try to get all physics in order, and your proposed digger fix made it into my local code (delay the removal of a single pixel by 1 frame).

Everything else can go in non-physics version changes that do not demand the user to update. Non-physics releases can occur in quick succession.
