In Development / The Wonderful World of Shmoley!
« on: November 03, 2021, 08:06:26 AM »
Welcome one and all! I haven’t made levels in quite some time but I’ve been picking it up again and as many of you have stated on the Discord server I have been getting much better at level creation than I used to be. All the levels I’ve created more recently are being put into their own separate folder on my computer and I think I’m gonna give pack making another go now that I have more knowledge and experience and have an easy way of getting feedback (Via Discord).

So welcome, to The Wonderful World of Shmoley!

I’ll think I’ll take it slow with this pack and I do want to see this through, so it may take a long time but I’ll finish it! I promise! ;)

So, what will this pack include?

I assume this pack will be on the easier side, as I haven’t really made a level before that would be considered difficult. It will be split into four ranks, each with 20 levels:

Gentle
Pushy
Violent
Insanity

Though the rank names may sound scary, I doubt it’ll get THAT hard :crylaugh:

Now that I’m back into Lemmings as of late trying to take down Reunion, I’ve been given such a sudden burst of inspiration for level design, and I want to consider this my first real pack.

I’ll keep you guys updated, and I’ll be off to work!

The following will be used to track progress on the pack’s completion:

Gentle: 15/20
Pushy: 0/20
Violent: 0/20
Insanity: 0/20

Shmolem’s question of the day is.. How in the world do people get music to use in their level packs? I’m just curious because I might want to get some for my future level packs. I’m not exactly a computer expert I’m sure you’ll find that I will have plenty of questions down the line. Anyway, hopefully I’ll get to see some response.

NeoLemmix Levels / Shmolems: But with a little less then planned
« on: September 28, 2020, 11:44:07 PM »
So it is time, I'm finally releasing this pack.

The only levels in there now are the ones from Learning and Simple because those two ranks I actually like the levels of and honestly creating the pack a realized I'm probably striving for a bit too much for a first pack. But again, here are the levels that I really liked! I will continue to create levels, just probably not striving for something as high as I first wanted. I need to take smaller steps with it, pace myself. But with all that being said, here it (finally) is.

Lemmings Main / How difficult could Lemmings get?
« on: September 09, 2020, 11:01:42 PM »
A question I’ve wondered about especially recently after I’ve beaten Sublems which had some hard levels (At least for my skill level) made me wonder: How hard could lemmings get? Like.. let’s say if you made the hardest level ever. Is it possible that there could be creation of one even harder or is there a limit to how hard Lemmings can be? If so, I want to know where that limit is and if one day someone could actually reach it. There are factors to answering this question though. For example: Different people see levels in different ways. Some could see the solution quicker than others. It’s about every individual person’s perspective on how they see the level, and that would cause them to do things differently. Actually a good example of this is my experience with Sandopolis Act 2 from  Sublems it took me like a month to see the solution but that was only because my perspective was set on something, when the solution was something completely different. So, in short, perspective is probably one of the hardest factors to get around when it comes to answering the question.

Non-Lemmings Gaming / Sandbox Games
« on: June 26, 2020, 02:12:33 AM »
Sandbox games are one of my favourite genre of video game. I’ve played Minecraft, Terraria (My favourite), and a bit of Stardew Valley. (Not sure if that’s exactly and sandbox game but it has some elements of one) Terraria is my absolute favourite video game of all time and I’d thought I’d share it with everyone. While you can share your favourite sandbox games and why. The reason I love Terraria is just the sheer amount of stuff you can do. In my eyes it’s sort of a sandbox, boss rush kind of game which is an interesting combination of genres. I’m currently playing through the game with a mod called the calamity mod and I’m not the final boss Supreme Calamitas Who has a whopping 5 MILLION health on normal mode. That’s the easiest mode! Imagine her on the hardest mode. (Which is part of the calamity mod) death mode. I play Minecraft sometimes but I just don’t like how when you die you lose everything. Some people say if you were to not lose everything upon death there would be no challenge but that could be up for debate.

Level Design / How do you get level ideas?
« on: May 14, 2020, 06:33:01 AM »
So recently I’ve been struggling to get level ideas for my in development pack (Shmolems) and I’m curious to know how some people here get their ideas because some of you have created packs with hundreds of levels and my pack is only going to have 40 but I’m still struggling to find ideas. So how do you do it?

As I’m finally getting around to making my level pack, I’m curious to know what size I should make my rank graphic.

8
I’m wondering how people create graphics for the difficulty ranks on the title screen of their pack.

Lemmings Main / New to Lemmings Forums.
« on: May 02, 2019, 10:08:13 PM »
Hello I'm new to the Lemmings Forums but not lemmings itself I've been a fan of lemmings for a long time. I've been playing lots of different level packs on Neolemmix for a while and I thought well why not join the forums instead of browsing around it as a guest. I have made a few levels with the level editor and I'm thinking of making a level pack soon. So yeah just wanted to say that I've joined.
