Lemmings Main / Lemmings 30th Anniversary Documentary to be made by Exient
« on: September 12, 2021, 03:16:12 AM »
So, it turns out that Sony no longer owns the rights to Lemmings. They are now owned by Exient, who are the publishers of the Sad Puppy mobile title.

Exient are making a documentary about the history of the game, might be worth a watch!

Here's an article about the upcoming documentary.

When clicking the "unread posts since last visit" link, it lists each thread that has been updated accordingly. This is good.

However, the links always direct to the OP rather than the last unread post within the thread, meaning that you then have to find the unread posts manually.

This is not so much an issue for people that log in every day or even a few times a week, but it does start to become more inconvenient to use this feature after extended breaks from the forum, say of more than about 4-5 days.

If there's a way for these links to direct to the first unread post in each updated thread (i.e. anything posted after the user last interacted with the site), that would definitely be an improvement of the feature.

Site Discussion / [SUG][FORUM] Save draft posts
« on: August 23, 2021, 03:30:39 AM »
Apologies if this is already possible, but maybe the option to save a post/reply as a draft so that you can come back and edit it later before posting?

Perhaps not a bug as such, but when opening a level which contains a missing/corrupt file, the following dialog appears:

This is fine, but there is no way to exit past the dialog or close the Editor from its own instance; the Editor must be force-closed via Task Manager when this happens.

Suggestion: allow Editor to load placeholder graphic for missing files (similar to the Player's ability to do this) so that this dialog can be closed and the Editor can then either remain open or be closed/restarted from its own instance.

I'm wondering if there exists a way of creating a clickable link in a post containing a script/process which automatically scans the post for attachments, and downloads them if it finds them.

Reason:

I like being able to see how many people have downloaded a particular attachment, and I also like to keep everything together in one place as much as possible, so I'm put off the idea of providing fileshare links in posts.

However, I can also see the benefits of being able to place download links anywhere in a post.

EDIT: Apparently, according to phpbb.com, it is possible:

Lemmini / [BUG] Flappers both exit *and* explode
« on: June 05, 2021, 03:02:21 AM »

If close enough to the trigger, the lemming will exit before exploding. However, the explosion subsequently happens anyway and the lemming does not count as having been saved.

Expected behaviour: Flapper lemming has exited - the explosion should not happen, and the lemming should count towards the save requirement.

Lemmini / [SuperLemmini] Lemmings Plus I (150 Levels) [V1.2 Update]
« on: June 04, 2021, 05:27:57 AM »

This is an authorised conversion of namida's Lemmings Plus I from the most up-to-date copy of the pack in old-formats. Note that the official version of the pack is also currently available for NeoLemmix.

This is namida's first proper level pack and is a stunning set of puzzles and challenges which continue with the abstract style and familiar spirit of Lemmings and Oh No! More Lemmings. Its 150 levels are structured into 5 ranks of increasing difficulty from pleasantly easy to mind-bendingly difficult.

Set in the original 9 styles and featuring the classic 8 skills, this is a perfect pack to add to your SuperLemmini collection.

Original pack author: namida
Conversion by: WillLem
Additional testing & replays by: ericderkovits and kaywhyn

SuperLemmini users: download the attached zip and extract it to Resources/levels.

NeoLemmix users: the official new-formats NeoLemmix version of this pack can be downloaded here.

Lemmini / Level Editors for SuperLemmini
« on: May 27, 2021, 01:56:07 AM »
The following editors can be used to make SuperLemmini levels:

:lemming:
NeoLemmix Editor 1.43 (click to show/hide)
This is the most-used editor for SuperLemmini levels, capable of creating, converting and saving levels in both .lvl and .ini format.
Download link for NeoLemmix Editor 1.43.

:lemming:
NeoLemmix Editor 10.13.13 (click to show/hide)
A more updated version of the 1.43 editor, this is the last NeoLemmix editor to support saving to .lvl format. Although it cannot save levels to .ini format, levels created using this editor can be opened in SuperLemmini via External Levels, and thus converted to .ini.
Download link for NeoLemmix Editor 10.13.13.

:lemming:
jLevelBuilder (click to show/hide)
This powerful Java-based Editor features some great level creation tools (such as brush mode) as well as the ability to open, create and save .ini, .lvl and .xml level formats. It could do with being optimised for higher screen resolutions, the setup process can be a bit cumbersome and the UI isn't the most intuitive, but it's definitely worth a look if you're wanting a feature-rich, format-specific Editor that's still being currently maintained.

Here it is, the wonderful Nepsterlems by Nepster - 111 levels of pure intricacy, excruciating logic and baffling genius. The maps are what draw me to this pack personally; Escheresque in their painstaking blend of artistic beauty and mathematical precision. It's definitely one of my favourite custom level packs; I will even endeavour to complete it at some point! :lemcat:

You are heartily encouraged to enjoy this pack in SuperLemmini; it's a classic-8 skills pack, all levels are in the L1 tilesets, so it's ideal for inclusion in your collection.

So, finally managed to finish this conversion! For some days, 29 of these levels would not open in the 1.43 Editor, so I could find no way to convert them to .ini for inclusion in the pack.

Then, I discovered that the levels would open in SuperLemmini itself; from there Turrican thankfully enlightened me to the presence of the $external folder within Resources/levels, and - lo and behold - there were the levels as .ini files! :lemcat:

This essentially means that any level editor capable of creating .lvl files is compatible with SuperLemmini - but, that's a topic for another post! ;P

General Discussion / A pointless post
« on: May 18, 2021, 05:44:30 PM »
This is a pointless post

Or is it? :lem-mindblown:

164
SuperLemmini's External Files system appears to be more versatile than its internal .ini file system. That is, it is capable of loading .lvl files as well as .ini, even if these levels have been created and saved in later versions (than 1.43) of the NeoLemmix editor (such as 10.12).

Since SL generates a .ini file of the currently loaded data, effectively acting as a converter, the resulting level is saved as a .ini file in levels/$external. This means that any level in .lvl format can be converted to .ini via this process. Thanks to Turrican for supplying this information.

If SuperLemmini can in fact load these levels, then could it also generate a .ini file of the currently loaded data, effectively acting as a converter? It appears to do this anyway as part of the process of loading these levels, so can the resulting level be saved as a file?

This topic was originally a question topic which has now been modified to supply the info to others who may benefit from knowing about this feature.

When creating the attached level, I noticed that any Sliders that entered the water directly via sliding (as opposed to falling) would not trigger the "glug" sound.
