On trying to open the editor, I'm presented with this error message.

I didn't even have the editor open previously and I am unable to open it. Selecting Yes or No just closes the error message and does not open the editor.

I have tried redownloading the editor also and it does not solve this issue.

EDIT: attached the error log for more information on the issue.

EDIT2: Solved, see post below.

Since the overwhelming success of the session recorded by IchoTolot for his channel as well as being streamed by Simon, where we had so many players in the lobby (11 at one point!) and wound up playing for 5 hours in total (for those who were there since the start).

Also having appearances from the likes of NaOH and nin10doadict (first time playing) which was nice! :)

I'm proposing we arrange another session, I'm obviously avoiding the weekend following Thanksgiving and instead aiming for the following weekend.
And since Saturday evening seems to be a great hit with so many people on here, I don't intend on changing the time of the session of 6pm UTC

So Saturday 2nd December at 6pm UTC  and maybe another session on Saturday 9th December 6pm UTC

So who's in? :)

2nd Dec session: Flopsy, Arty, Yung Gotenks, Raymanni, IchoTolot, SQron (nin10doadict and Akseli later on?)

9th Dec session: Simon, Flopsy, Arty, Yung Gotenks, Raymanni, Mobius (?), nin10doadict (later on?)

Closed / [Bug] Graphics Tool saving issues
« on: November 19, 2017, 04:12:56 AM »
Very minor bug because there is a work around.

Whenever I'm saving styles in the new format GS Tool, it says in the save window on the filename line to select the styles folder.

I select the styles folder and press save while in the folder.

The following comes up
"The selected folder already contains files. Saving the file will resp. delete all of them. Continue?"
Yes or No

Selecting Yes brings up
"Could not save file, the directory is not empty"

Work around: I select the folder of the style I'm working with and this saves the "tileset" folder within the tileset's folder. I then cut and paste into the styles folder and it overwrites no problem.
This could cause problems with deleted elements though as they won't be deleted.

I'm not sure if I'm saving correctly but I tried for 10 mins to workout if I was doing the wrong thing.

Closed / [Fixed][Bug] Minim PS3 Factory oww error
« on: November 17, 2017, 06:23:07 AM »
While trying to convert SEB Lems, I managed to get everything converted except for the 2 levels I have which use the Minim PS3 factory tileset.

Firstly there's an error with the title of the translation file, NeoLemmix tries to open minimps3factory.nxtt when it is in fact called minimps3factorye.nxtt.
I'm not sure whether this error is unique to me but my minimps3factory tileset was never called minimps3factorye.dat

Renaming the translation file by removing the extra e on the end solves this issue.

However, if there are any One Way Walls from the PS3 Factory tileset in the level then it spits out this error when trying to load the old format file in the editor.

"Exception EAbort in module NeoLemmix.exe at 002794F2
Error loading the level: Could not find object piece: default:oww_left."

I amended this by removing the one way arrows and replacing them with One way arrows from an original lemmings tileset (Marble).

I have read the graphic set topic for Minim's tilesets and have understood that it's intentional that this tileset is supposed to now use One way arrows from default.

The 2 levels I have in this tileset are now running in new format but only after I removed the Yellow One way arrows that were in the original tileset.

This error may affect others who made levels in this tileset and used the Arrows provided in the tileset.

The saving grace now is at least I have finally been able to fully convert SEB Lems :)

NeoLemmix Styles / Rickroll custom tileset
« on: November 11, 2017, 01:10:06 PM »
This is namida's work, I take no credit for creating the original VGA spec. I've just made this into a usable tileset based on the original VGA images

Presenting the Rick Astley custom tileset, originally a couple of VGA specs created for the Lemmings Plus games by namida and made into an actual tileset by Flopsy :)

This tileset is what I used to make the following SEB Lems level.

Revolution 12 - Rick-afinity (from SEB Lems) created by Flopsy and Lucia

Everything you see in this level is in the tileset pretty much including the bricks which aren't in the picture.

I hope you go forth and Rickroll more people in your level packs!

Note: There are no objects in this tileset, just terrain pieces, you'll have to use objects from other tilesets using tileset mixing.

I'm not sure if this topic is in the right place, if it's not then please move it

I've decided to further pursue more Sonic Tilesets based on the initial success of my Scrap Brain tileset.

I'm sadly not as artistic as others in this community so I would benefit more from ripping video game sprites and terrain, hence why I'm focusing on projects like this as opposed to creating my own.

I'm now taking suggestions on what tilesets to do next.

I'll take any suggestions from Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Sonic and Knuckles and Sonic CD as I have the resources to easily make any tilesets from those games.
The exceptions of course being Scrap Brain and Star Light from Sonic 1 since they already exist.

When making suggestions, please keep in mind that if a tileset which is already similar exists then please don't suggest it. Some examples include: Emerald Hill and Green Hill

I will also not accept Spring Yard Zone or Wing Fortress because I have levels for those in SEB Lems and I feel those tilesets are not a good fit for Lemmings.

I would also like it to be drawn to my attention the mistakes I made when making Scrap Brain and Star Light to avoid the same thing happening in future. I already am aware of the background sprites and objects being unpopular and confusing on those 2 tilesets.

Please address the issue of background sprites and how I could fix that issue in the current tilesets I have.

So Sonic fans, please send me your suggestions and I'll see what I can do :)

Lemmings Main / Top 10 hardest OH NO more Lemmings levels
« on: September 25, 2017, 03:12:20 AM »
I thought I'd revisit this question again but this time focusing on OH NO More Lemmings as I plan on making a YT video on the top 10 hardest levels in this game.

This is assuming you are playing the game on the original Amiga, PS1 or Windows 95 Lemmings (if this was where you played the game).

It doesn't have to be 10 levels, you can suggest more if necessary if you struggled with more than 10 of them.

This could be expanded to a Top 15 or Top 20 if necessary due to the vast amount of difficult levels.

A few things to be clear on:
"Introducing SUPERLEMMING" is allowed eventhough it is technically a sped up level.
The level can be hard for any reason, tight time limit, tough execution....things that wouldn't really be an issue in Neo Lemmix for example.

As with the previous topic, I will bring a short list of my own to the topic.
Please feel free to suggest levels not on this list, any level is fair game (except TAME levels! :P)

Crazy 3 - Many Lemming Make Level Work - the timed bombers make this level tedious
Crazy 7 - And Now The End is Near... - was hard on some engines due to sensitive steel mechanics.
Crazy 8 - KEEP ON TRUCKING - the skillset was rather tight in this level and the diamonds near the end were awkward.
Crazy 10 - ROCKY VI - required very precise builder placement and tight execution
Crazy 16 - Across The Gap - 100% requirement and hard to contain the lemmings.
Crazy 17 - Digging for Victory - Time Limit made this tough.
Crazy 20 - Ice Ice Lemming - can be scary for some players and is an execution nightmare.

Wild 2 - Lemming Hotel - Struggled with this one for some reason, it's hard to time everything right on this.
Wild 3 - Lemming Rhythms - Time Limit is tight on this and the solution is tricky.
Wild 4 - Meeting Adjourned - 100% requirement and hard to contain the Lemmings and then release them.
Wild 13 - ONWARD AND UPWARDS - Hardest time crunch in the game hands down!
Wild 16 - Take Care Sweetie - Hard to figure out

Wicked 2 - Introducing SuperLemming - yeah, just too fast!
Wicked 7 - Last Lemming To Lemming Central - tricky puzzle!
Wicked 10 - Temple of Love - so tight on builders!!!
Wicked 11 - ROCKY ROAD - similar to KEEP ON TRUCKING in difficulty
Wicked 16 - Five Alive - a nice level as well as being difficult.
Wicked 17 - Down The Tube - this one was tough and required out of the box thinking.
Wicked 18 - Lots More Where They Come From - the terrain in this level was an absolute nightmare
Wicked 19 - Up, Down or Round and Round - required very on the edge builder placement and the hidden trap was awful. Kind of like Livin on the Edge meets Compression Method.

Havoc 4 - The Race Against Cliches - very intimidating for less experienced players.
Havoc 5 - There's Madness in the Method - This one took me 50 tries to get right in PS1 version, it's a hell of a execution to pull off.
Havoc 8 - Lemming About Town - A tough to work out level as well as being a slight time crunch.
Havoc 11 - Welcome to the Party Pal - Time crunch and requires perfect execution nearly.
Havoc 12 - It's All A Matter of Timing - Interesting builder puzzle
Havoc 15 - Have an Ice Day - Very tight on skills and long!
Havoc 16 - Scaling the Heights - if you aren't familiar with using Miner tunnels to get up a level then this is a roadblock.
Havoc 17 - Where Lemmings Dare - the traps around the exit are hidden and very off putting
Havoc 18 - Lemmings in a Situation - very similar to Temple of Love
Havoc 19 - Looks A Bit Nippy Out There - similar to Scaling the Heights
Havoc 20 - Look Before you Leap - Very harsh bomber timing level.

Download the v2.00 nxp at the bottom of this post :)

v2.00 of SEB Lems is now out, this is a very sharply updated version of the pack where a vast majority of levels have gone through backroute fixes, music track swaps and sweeping changes to prepare for the new format release (I made ceiling fixes for example).
I assume this pack has now been played by the majority of forum users so I have made fixes accordingly.

I worked on fixing this pack in the old formats while making preparations for the new format conversion so there will be features that are apparent of this like ceiling fixes. I felt it was easier to do it this way.

While I have tried very hard to make sure replays are preserved, there are a handful of levels where all of the replays will be broken so be sure to check your replays for solvability after upgrading!
Apologies for any inconvenience regarding broken replays, in the majority of cases it means your solution was a back route though.

This will be the LAST update made to the old format of SEB Lems in any case. I am now entirely moving over to the NeoLemmix new formats and I will no longer be supporting this pack in old format and will move to work on the New Format version of SEB Lems. Feel free to still report any functionality problems with the pack but it will be my decision whether I choose to fix them or not (most likely I will if it's something quick to fix though).

v2.00 changelog - this is a huge update so lots of information in here. Level swaps are further down in the spoiler tag.

Flopsy's Graphic Sets (from SEB Lems)

Scrap Brain Zone (flo_scrapbrain.dat)

Scrap Brain Lemmings (Paradise 8 - SEB Lems)

A zone based on the zone from Sonic The Hedgehog on Genesis/Mega Drive. It's been over 25 years since this game has been released and I'm happy to be bringing this graphic set to the Lemmings community.

Again, thanks to Gronkling for allowing me to use items from his cyber tileset in the Scrap Brain tileset!

Traps

Electric zapper trap (fire trap)

Flamethrower (fire trap)

Spinning Cog (fire trap)

Crusher Trap (trigger trap)

Other Notable Objects

Teleporter In/Teleporter Out

One Way Fields (left/right)

A different type of One Way Field - acts as a conveyor belt.

Star Light Zone (flo_starlight.dat)

Welcome To Star Light Zone (Bittersweet 13 - SEB Lems)

A second graphic set from Sonic The Hedgehog, this graphic set doesn't really introduce any new objects. With it being a very space based tileset, it borrows a lot of elements from the L2 Space tileset.

This zone is Sonic friendly but not Lemming friendly!

Sandopolis Zone (flo_sandopolis.dat)

Ghost Rider

Marble Garden Zone

Jardin de Flopsy

Casino Night Zone (NEW!)

Casino is the Night

Special Thanks to nin10doadict for donating the neon light trap to this tileset :)

Download Casino Night in the second post of this topic :)

Mystic Cave Zone - only available in New Formats!

Presenting the Mystic Cave Zone tileset also from Sonic 2

Emerald Excavation (upcoming level in MegSEGAbytes - Terrain by Flopsy, solution by Wafflem)

This tileset features a squish trap like the rock terrain which goes up and down in the actual Mystic Cave levels, it is pictured above the exit in the level picture, it will squash a lemming like the other crusher traps do. There is a terrain like this trap to make the trap solid also for those who prefer solid traps :)

There is also a No Effect object light to put on the hanging lanterns so they glow :)

This tileset natively uses the mineshaft trapdoor and exit from namida's LPV tileset.

A difficulty I had with this tileset was making the rock terrain pieces obviously and it was difficult to settle on a background colour but the background colour is slightly different to the rock terrain darker colours.

Enjoy the tileset, this tileset is only available for new formats (download in the v12 styles download in the NeoLemmix player topic)

These are preview images (for more info - please view this topic)

With permission from Flopsy I present to you this.
As of this post its in old format, so I give the rights to flopsy to convert this set. This is because I haven't touched the new format gstool
anyways this was a set me and flopsy collaborated on, flopsy got the parts and I did the rest resulting in this!

The attachment below includes the level, the .ogg for the level and the set itself. Have fun on burning depths

Download the Old Format tileset in the second post :)

Final Note on all tilesets

I'm not a perfect graphic set creator and the animations on some of the objects may not be as good as other tilesets. Please feel free to make any improvements to these tilesets if you feel like taking it on.
All I ask is if you wish to add tiles or objects, please add them to the end of the terrain/object lists so it doesn't interfere with existing levels in these tilesets.
I'm not planning any other updates to operations in this tilesets (apart from basic compatibility).

Special thanks to soniczone0.com for providing the source images for me to be able to make these graphic sets! I highly recommend using this site if you wish to create Sonic tilesets

Of course as always, suggestions and feedback is always welcome.

I just made a level using the Genesis Fire tileset, well rather I modified an existing level from the 2P levels from the Extra levels nxp

I just tested the level in Neo Lemmix Editor, 1 lemming spawns no problem.

For each lemming that spawns after that, I get this error message (cross symbol)

"Preassigned skill called for object not a hatch or a preplaced lemming (C:\Users\Namida\Games\Lemmings\LemmixSource\NeoLemmixSource\LemObjects.pas, line 350)"

On clicking "ok" the lemming dies and gets removed from the Lemming count without spawning.

EDIT: Occurs in both Player and Editor test mode on v10.13.18

I replaced the hatch with an identical hatch then no lemmings spawned and the error message came up on the very first lemming.

Changing the main tileset or using a hatch from a different tileset doesn't solve this issue.

EDIT 2: I remade the level from scratch using the Original Fire tileset and the problem does not occur so it must be a bug with the level being taken from the Extra Levels nxp via dumping them or a bug with the Genesis tilesets themselves.

EDIT 3: Realised what has gone wrong myself, it turns out I had a trapdoor outside of the level boundary so if this error ever occurs for anyone, that's what's wrong!

Edit by Nepster: Changed title to reflect the actual bug.

Non-Lemmings Gaming / Sonic's 25th Anniversary - Sonic Mania!
« on: August 15, 2017, 12:05:02 PM »
I know technically his 25th birthday was in June but to celebrate, I've shifted my channel's focus to playing games from his franchise for the time being.
I haven't had any Lemmings videos to upload for a while anyway.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0JAwKyW340QFfSzdmv8Ljg

I've had a playthrough up of Sonic the Hedgehog 1 (genesis) on my channel for a while now.

I've started uploading videos for Sonic 2 just recently.

But the reason I'm posting this topic is mainly because of Sonic Mania which comes out at last later today and I intend on recording a full playthrough where I haven't seen any spoilers beforehand (as hard as it is because the internet has been rife with spoilers for the past 24 hours at time of posting).
This playthrough will be uploaded to my channel as soon as possible.

I'm also curious if anyone else on here is intending on picking up the game at some point.

Other games I plan on playing and recording playthroughs after Sonic Mania.

Sonic Heroes (PS2 version)
Sonic Unleashed (Xbox 360)
Sonic 3 and Knuckles (Xbox 360)
Sonic Generations (Xbox 360)
Sonic CD (Xbox 360)
Sonic Forces (on release)

If there are any other suggestions I'm open to hear them, although I'm leaving Sonic Adventure DX and 2 Battle because Colorful Arty has started a playthrough on 2 Battle already. I'm also not great at Sonic Adventure overall.

Other games I have available for definite but not sure if people want to see playthroughs

Sonic The Hedgehog 4 (both episodes) - excluding because if has bad physics
Sonic All Stars Racing (both games) - it's Mario Kart style racing and based on luck so not sure if it makes good viewing.
Sonic The Hedgehog (2006) - excluding because it is widely regarded as the worst Sonic game of all time

Lemmings Main / New Lemmings game?
« on: July 07, 2017, 01:11:27 AM »
Does anyone think we're overdue for another Lemmings game from Sony?

It's been 3 years since Lemmings Touch came out on the Vita now, and that has been a PS Plus game in the last year.

I felt they actually got the graphics right in Lemmings Touch, the Lemmings actually looked really good on that rather than the PSP ones which had limbs separated from their bodies.

I feel that the PS4 is ripe for a new Lemmings game to come out, I don't expect it to be anything spectacular but it would be nice to keep the franchise alive at least and not let it fizzle out slowly.
The PS3 Lemmings came out in 2007 which was not long into the PS3 cycle and Touch came out not long into the Vita cycle either.
I don't think we'll see a sequel to Touch since Sony seems to have washed their hands of the PS Vita now.

If anything everytime a new Lemmings game comes out, it could get people suddenly interested in the game again and it could mean new members flocking to this forum.

Sony has been sitting on Oh No More Lemmings and not even done anything with those levels, not that I'd want a remake if it's going to be anything like the PSP remake of the Original game.

I have no idea if Lemmings has been selling well on the PSP/PS2/PS3/Vita, it doesn't seem to be publicly viewable anywhere so I'm not sure if Sony would even want to waste anymore time making games with the license.
