Okay, thank you for sharing your opinions!
I understand. It feels a bit odd, but that's probably just because it's new. I will continue playing the original games anyway, and this might come in handy when playing custom levels.
I've got the editor to work, and I'll say this: I forgot to eat, that's how much I was enjoying myself.
For some reason the play-test function doesn't work, but I can just open the CustLemmixNeo.exe (or whatever it's called) and select the level manually, if I want to test it.
I certainly like working with it more than LemEdit, and the new functions (I love the pickup-skill thing) are great, too.

NeoLemmix Main / My experience with NeoLemmix so far

Hi, it's me again!

The past hour I've been busy setting up NeoLemmix. And I can say, I quite like it so far.
I've been using neolemmix.com, and I can say the site is set up quite nicely, I got the tutorial pack to work without too much trouble.

Some new things added seem a bit cheaty to me, though. Especially the minus. Going frames backwards? Wouldn't that be cheaty? I mean, making a mistake is never a problem anymore... as if you will ever make a mistake, with the one frame at a time method. So, yeah, I'm wondering what your thoughts on abilities like those are.

Level Design / Re: A question to level designers
« on: April 19, 2015, 09:39:24 AM »
Another thing is that I am afraid I'll be using the same ideas as other people. I mean, it's a puzzle game, after all, and if I design a puzzle, there is a chance that somebody else has designed a puzzle that it very closely resembles. And I have the idea of "I shouldn't play too many levels, or else I will have seen every good level idea already, and I would be copying them, instead of having the same idea by accident."

Level Design / A question to level designers
« on: April 18, 2015, 06:03:34 PM »
Hi, it's me again!

When you get an idea for a level you want to make, how do you write it down?
Do you design levels on paper, in the editor or in a paint-like program?
Because I thought that when you first get an idea for a level, it'd be good to first quickly draw it out, without needing to design a fully working level including everything right away.

Also, do you think it'd be bad if I already start designing levels? I mean, I've only solved everything up to Taxing 16 from the original Lemmings, I haven't gotten very far in ONML and I've never played custom levels, so I don't have too much experience. I feel like I could already start to design Fun and Tricky-like levels, but I'd like your thoughts on it.

Thank you for your input! I hope my tilesets will be fine as it would be too bad to throw away all the work because of copyright issues. :(

Could you tell me the name of the Lemmings clone you're talking about on the App Store, please? I'm curious to see it :) Thanks!
It's titled Caveman. There's a Lite version which lets you play the first 10 levels of the original Fun. It's not exactly a clone, but very clearly inspired.

Nice!
I haven't played any custom levels at all yet, but I think Lemmings Plus is definitely going to be the first custom pack I'm going to be playing, and it's nice hearing there's going to be even more! :)

Lemmings Main / Re: How long does a level take you?

If you don't have directional select, a good method for "The ascending pillar scenario" is to leave the release rate untouched, then free the crowd with the last lemming out.
I used a digger to free the crowd, so not having directional select didn't matter one bit :P

Also, I played another level of the fire tileset today, and did it first try. Again. Doesn't anyone else think most levels using the fire tileset are much easier than most using other tilesets?

Where is everyone? We only have six people who've submitted answers so far... T_T
A reason for that might be that there are quite a few questions which require some research, instead of generic questions that anyone can answer. There's nothing wrong with that, of course, but to some people that might be a problem.

Yup, the ascending pillar scenario was what made me ask this.
I'm going to tell about my experience with it, using very minor spoilers.

With some levels I just thought entirely in the wrong direction, and it took me some time to realise that. Still though, the only level I've spent nearly an hour on as of yet is lend a helping hand. And that was due to extreme stupidity,

Oh, and also, what is this directional selection you speak of? Does the DOS version not have it?

I understand where you're coming from, but I honestly don't think changing the colour helps. I highly doubt you'd get any problems with it, as you created it from scratch. There is a Lemmings clone in the app store with exactly the same level design and inspired tilesets, and it hasn't got any problems.
I don't think they'd fight over such a thing.

Lemmings Main / How long does a level take you?
« on: April 14, 2015, 05:44:53 PM »
Hi, it's me again!

I'm currently playing the Taxing rating of the original Lemmings.
Completing a level takes me around 30 minutes, except for the fire tileset ones, those take me less than 10 minutes. I was wondering, is half an hour a bit long for solving a Taxing level?
So, my question is: approximately how long did solving a level take you when first playing the original Lemmings?
Also: how long does a Taxing-like-difficulty level you've never seen before take you nowadays? I assume they take less time than the Taxing rating when you originally played Lemmings, as you should've improved since then.

Could somebody tell me who did round 2 of this year's? I'd like to pm him for help, if he wants to help.
I'm learning Excel now, but I'm still having some problems with the robots python thing. (seems like many people on this forums are great with computers!)

Looks pretty neat, though I do have to say that having a different camera position for each shot is a bit bothersome...

What kind of device are you using to take the shots? Could you attach it to some kind of makeshift tripod?
I know, this was back when I took them with my Nokia, because my camera didn't support memory cards that I could store more than 80 pictures on.
If I'm going to get back into this again (I'm trying to, but having problems) I'm going to do it with a professional camera, and using some kind of tripod. I don't have one, though, so we're trying to make one with KNEX, but it hasn't really worked out yet.
