NeoLemmix Levels / Re: OddLems
« on: July 05, 2023, 08:37:18 PM »
Hi, LemFan!

I made a logo for your pack.

124
I would like to suggest the ability to give bombers and freezers their own sound effects.
I like to use an alternate "bang!" sound for the bomber, but prefer the standard blip sound for a freezer.
Could we change the default for both to use the default sound? But allow each to have their own sound effect?

This way we can change one, or both to another sound, but the defaults would be the same for anyone who prefers
the default.

I also feel that the spearer should have some type of "thud" sound when the spear hits its target. This would really
make the effect realistic.

This is a great post for finding all the slowfreeze/radiation levels.

126
There's alot about these features that I like.
I like how this adds mechanics to the game without adding more skills to click. I like how it makes more
use of both the freezer block and the disarmer.

I definitely agree, slowfreeze should result in a freezer. Even if the stoner makes a comeback someday.
The fact you can rescue a freezer definitely adds to all this too. I can imagine many slowfreezers all piling
up after a trap and getting saved by a thrown grenade.

Maybe we could tweak the radiation/slowfreeze trap colors to make them available for more styles by
color-matching them to other terrain or objects?

A variable countdown for them is interesting. It might be nice to put the countdown number right on the trap?
Or only above their heads? You could go all out and give the radiation lemming radioactive white skin and the
slowfreezer a slightly bluish skin.

Strato's skill shadow idea is interesting too. I like it.

Without getting into conversions too much, would it be possible to update just the editor to open lvl files and save
as nxlv? It does look like some level-makers want to bring their slowfreeze/radiation levels into SLX... which would
be brand new to alot of us.

I don't know how difficult this would be, but I think the best method would be for the "Tink!" to appear at the far left if the builder is
left and off the screen. And far right if he's off to the right. This would take care of the location for most of these. Anything else would
appear above the affected skill. Same with "Let's go!" It could be centered above the hatch. They might all be good to
be slightly above whatever is making the noise.

Center-screen seems okay too and should be easier to implement. Could start here and see how it goes.

P.S. In the screenshot above, the text appears to begin perfectly above the lemming and looks great. I think
off-screen sounds would look better at the edge though.

Here's one more utility I made. This is just a basic tool I made to list the contents of a directory/folder and output it to a text file.
Just put this in any folder and run it to create a list of everything in that folder. Saves time when you need it.

I want to use this, but it stops with an error.

I saw it needs bass.dll and tried placing it in the SLX folder. But then it stops and asks for the next missing file.

Above is a link to the original Commodore Amiga soundtrack for Lemmings.
This is a capture from emulation I did myself. (music.nxmi included)

I decided to do this after a talk with Willlem about how much better the true Amiga tracks sound over Dat files in NeoLemmix.

P.S. This is a new upload, full tracks now in stereo!

Here's a link to the music tracks from Lemmings 2, Chronicles, 3D and Paintball all edited to loop and using the Soundfont to create OGG files.

I noticed while listening through these that many level packs make use of most of these, but we've never had a set of all these tunes in such a high quality before so I felt this project was necessary.

Use any or all of these however you wish.

NeoLemmix Main / Amiga, Win95 and more Music tracks

This is a link to download the audio tracks for the Windows 95 version of Lemmings.

I Loaded the soundfont for the Midi files, converted the audio to MP3 format and trimmed the files so they will loop properly.

Why did I bother doing this? Well, I was playing around with the Win95 version of Lemmings and I noticed many of the music tracks
really have a deep groovy Bass that works my computer's subwoofer more than any other version. And I wanted to hear more of it.
So here it is for anyone else that wants to groove out.

*Edit This whole pack has been re-made and replaced today in Ogg format. I have also added the DosCD version of the two omitted songs, Doggie and Forest Green.
Music.nxmi file is included to drop in your level folder. Just put the audio tracks in your main music folder.

SuperLemmix Bugs & Suggestions / Re: [SUG] Return of the Stoner...

I think we've found quite a few ways to duplicate this now. And I'm adding a couple more here.
The grenader leaves almost nothing left.
I wouldn't recommend changing the fencer angle. (I like making the fenced area shimmyable though)

And here is yet another one-way step made with two freezers and a fencer...

Here's a similar one-way step made with a jumper/bomber interaction...
I couldn't do this in the same spot near the top of the level. Nowhere to jump from. This is harder to master, but makes a good step if you have the space to do it.
