40 level per rank is a bit much.  How about 6X30 = 180. A bit lower than 20 and not too many levels per rank which could be annoying to scroll through.

I hear that you are thinking about doing a lemmings 2 the tribes playthrough Flopsy. I think the SNES one is not a bad choice if you were to choose that one.

The SNES version is maybe the worst port in my opinion. So many levels dumped down in difficulty. Whole traps are missing like the eyes in the cavelem tribe. Also the music is way worse for some tribes, again cavelem would be my example here: Some uncoordinated bongos instead of the awesome tune that most people are familiar with.

I actually managed to get my recording sofware (Open Broadcaster Software) working with the DOSBOX version of Lemmings 2 the tribes. It recognises the window and the sound is also working.

Warning! A bug in the current editor version V1.43n-B regarding the panels:

If you put a winow into the panels and try to edit a value like lvl size, skill ammount or even level name.....the input is ignored!

Numbers will go into the 6th bracket of the bottom of the window (beside items selected). Outside of the panels, inputs into the windows will work normal.

Results:

Reunion: 28 Failed   15 Undetermined   107 Passed -----  43 broken  ( nearly 1/3 )
Pimo:      21 Failed   12 Undetermined   112 Passed -----  33 broken  ( a bit more than 1/4 )

I did not go through my single levels, but I expect quite a few broken replays there, too.

So in total I would say ~ 100 broken replays overall for me.

As things like the miner/cloner behavior that glitches through terrain were not yet included, prob a few more will come to this.
If there is room for backwards-friendly improvement it would be in fixing that builder behavior.

Also what about the deadly left/right sides, or the possibility of assiging miners on wrong facing OWW's rather than treat it as steel?  Nobody posts in the dedicated discussions anymore and I would like to know what the final result is, so I/We can prepare.

This has to go, but I think it could be quite a replay breaker:

All bombers assigned on that climber animation frame will cause the replay to fail now. Bombing climbers is quite a standard process and I guess quite a few replays use this frame to assign the bomber. Maybe there is also another frame in the animation which is inconsistant, but I don't know.
A test version will be needed to estimate the damage.

EDIT: Or add special case for ground level: No bombing under ground level, just equal or above.

Would support that suggestion.

This new stacker check would mostly break just ~ <10 replays (if any at all) and it is a good step to more consistancy.  Rather change the stacker than the platformer + this way it makes more sense aswell :)

To leave my comment here: I do also experience this bug and it's quite annoying! :devil:

I try to resize the panels to the left/right and ... hotkeys are a gonner!

For people using the panels it's quite a nusense.
